Part 20
Author's Note: hmmm, mom had a one sided argument with me as I was writing this rather short chapter... something about not being about to wake up on time because I go to sleep at after four in the morning, though I personally don't see the problem seeing as I don't have anywhere to go... Meh.
Hope you guys like it...

~Amanda's perspective~
I lifted her gently off the floor and carried her to the bed carefully resting her down and sighed. Her face was so peaceful and without care right now it had me smiling. A knock came at the door followed by Ms. Thornrush’s voice. I got off the bed quickly and unlocked the door to let her inside.
“Saige is taking a nap right now.” I said quickly, hoping she hadn’t heard anything and coloring slightly at the thought.
“That’s alright. I wanted to have a word with you if that’s okay.” she said smiling. I never could get over the fact that it was our principal Saige was living with, far less how pretty she was. I nodded feeling more than a little nervous.
We went downstairs to the kitchen where I was smelling pizza baking, and it smelled good. She smiled again at my look of appreciation before starting.
“I know what you did to my cousin in her room and I’m not going to reprimand you.” my heart stopped and my jaw dropped. My mind was officially blank as she continued. “Since I have your attention, I also want to point out that Saige is still a very fragile girl despite her best effort to appear otherwise.” I blinked once, twice, three times before I was able to close my mouth and nod my head, looking away from her in embarrassment. “I also know that she wouldn’t allow you so very deeply into her personal space if she didn’t trust you…” she added something else, but I didn’t quite catch it.
“How long have you known?” I whispered finally finding my voice, but still too nervous to look at her. She took a breath and was silent for a while. I chanced a glance at her to see she looked like she was calculating the days or months.
“I figured something was up the day she came in school with you for the first time… she just seemed… at peace.” I felt the heat raise to my cheeks as I remembered that day. Her dad had beaten her, she snuck out of her house and came to mine. I remember feeling the unexplainable stabbing in my chest when I saw her like that, and I just wanted to take the pain away… “So I want to tell you… take care of her… stay by her side.”
“I will, if that’s what she wants…” I kept my eyes trained downward as I felt her move towards me. She murmured something and placed a gentle kiss on my forehead before going to the counter where I just noticed and assortment of ingredients lined up. “What’s that for?” I asked moving to get a better view of what she was doing.
“Dessert.” she glanced back at me. “You finally seem to trust me as a person I see.” I froze then blushed. Was I really giving off a distrustful aura?
“I guess I just feel a little weird being in the same house as my principal.” I said, causing her to laugh…
~Saige’s perspective~
I wasn’t sure how long I was out for but I came to at the insistence of my stomach and groaned. After a quick once over of my room and noticing that Amanda was no where to be found, I slowly got to my feet and stretched. The door was slightly open and the scent of pizza and apple pie was wafting up from downstairs. I closed my eyes, enjoying the scent for a moment when I heard the door connect with the wall and my eyes flew open in time to see Amanda’s smiling face inches from mine. I took a step back involuntarily and I felt her hand in mine.
“Dinner’s ready.” she said smiling, her eyes were bright and I couldn’t help but look away for a few moments to get my thoughts back in order.
“I’ll come down in a bit…” I whispered. Her eyes seemed to get imperceptivity darker as she leaned in to give me a light kiss that quickly got deeper, before she came back to herself and pulled away.
“Hurry up okay?” I nodded as she turned and walked back out. I was left more than a little breathless and I tried to figure out just how I was going to ask her what was on my mind…
