After lunch Daisuke disappeared into his room, Cyan had gone outside to collect firewood from the pile next to the cabin, and Flare disappeared after eating. Zev and Akira sat at the table; one was reading a book and the other looking through his phone. “So how long do you think it will take this time around?”
Akira looked at him and shrugged, his eyes went back to reading. “I think I’ll miss it.”
“Miss what?”
“Doing all this.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.” His phone rang and he answered it. “Hello.”
“Akira!”
“What is it Marianela?”
It grew quiet and then, “Happy Birthday!” His phone snapped shut. Zev looked at him; he had heard it, sounded like a group of people had shouted over the phone. That same phone rang and Akira glared at it.
“You going to answer it?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because it’s pointless there is nothing happy about a birthday.”
“Yes it is.”
He looked at him, “Okay then tell me what is so happy about celebrating one year closer to your death.”
“Before Paranormals came out we would celebrate our birthdays as one more year we’ve out done death. Some still do.” His sky blue eye grew soft and he smiled. “One more year to hope you don’t lose your life, one more year to spend with you and family.”
Akira looked at him, “Acting wise is not your forte.”
He frowned and let his head lay on the table, “Well I hope you live for a long time.”
Storm gray eyes looked at him and he shook his head. “Fine you can say it.”
“Yay, happy birthday Akira!”
Just then Daisuke walked out and slid the box across the table to Akira, “It’s a little late to give you this but I still hope you like it.”
The brunette looked at the box, “Mitch did tell you right?”
“Yeah, is it wrong for a father to give his son a gift?”
“No.” He pulled the box closer and Daisuke nodded.
“Well I’m going to talk to Falcon, Hawk should be here soon.” He quickly left through the front door.
Akira looked at the box; it wasn’t wrapped up just a brown box. It wasn’t big either; it fit in the palm of his hand. He pulled the cover off and looked inside. It was a necklace with an arrow head, the chain was silver and when he looked at the arrow head it had a symbol on it. Pulling that out something fell out of the box onto the table. Zev picked it up and looked at it.
“Hey Akira I think you should look at this.”
He handed him a folded piece of paper and Akira took it from him. Unfolding it he stared at it. There was a woman holding onto a small child. She had reddish brown hair and gray eyes; the small child in her arms was trying to reach for the same necklace that Akira was holding out to. The smile on her face was one that only a mother would give her child.
“She and you have the same eye color.” He looked at Zev as he folded the picture and looked at the necklace. “Akira.”
“I…”
Zev placed his hand on his shoulder. “Your phone is ringing.” He looked at it and sighed.
“Hello.”
“Well geez you didn’t have to hang up.”
“Sorry Marianela.”
“I know you don’t like it but would you at least let us tell you happy birthday.”
“Yeah sure.”
“I mean you don’t…… what?”
“Sure do whatever you want.”
“Can I get you something then?”
“Fine.”
“Are you even listening to me?”
“Yes.”
“So, are you and Zev together and doing unspeakable things…”
“Maria.”
“Just checking to see if you’re listening.”
“Sorry, I’m just off today.”
“Oh, well we all wish you a happy birthday and I hope you and Zev are together and that way we know your safe and not with some…”
“Maria.”
“What! We worry when you come home at five in the morning hung-over and muttering death threats.”
“Yes, we are.”
“Really? Guys they finely got together Mitch was right!”
“Son of a… Maria!”
She giggled and quickly called out, “Have fun, don’t stay up late, bye.” Maria hung up and Akira glared at his phone.
“What was that about?”
“Nothing.” Zev scooted his chair closer and pulled Akira close to him. “Zev…”
He slipped his arm around his waist and pulled him close, “What?”
“Nothing.” His head rested on Zev’s shoulder and he smiled. “Mmmm, can you tone down the emotion?”
“Sorry.” Akira was still looking at the arrow head necklace when the door opened.
“Akira, I want you to come met someone.” It was Daisuke and he was back outside.
The two looked at each other.
The person wasn’t what Akira thought he was. When they walked out he saw Daisuke talking to someone but he couldn't see them, but when he got closer. He saw a small person sitting on his shoulder. “Huh?”
“Falcon this is Akira.” The small person was a foot tall and he floated over to Akira.
“Hello Akira, it’s nice to finally see you again. You were so small at the time; don’t bother with remembering me it was so long ago.”
“Um… okay…” The person was floating in mid air. He had short messy red bed head hair and piercing orange eyes. His skin was slightly tan and the build of his body, even if he was small, was well. Falcon had on a black and blue vest and blue jean pants. On his feet were black and red shoes and around his neck was a sliver and orange pendent.
“That daughter of mine should be here soon.” He floated over to Daisuke and stood back on his shoulder, and then he pulled out a pair of gloves and goggles.
“You going to give those to her?”
“Yes, been in the family for ages.” He pulled out another pair and pulled them on. “If she’s not here soon I’ll never be able to hand them to her myself.”
“Don’t worry she should be here soon.”
Just at that moment there was a loud shout and two people came floating over. “Sorry mother wanted to come along too.”
The small female was the same height as Falcon. She had shoulder length red and orange hair and bright orange eyes. She had a blue swim top and blue girl athletic shorts, over the swim top was a green net shirt, and the boots she had on stop mid calf and was tan. She had the same necklace as Falcon. The female hugged Falcon. “Hi daddy!”
“Hello Hawk.”
There was a cough and they looked at the other woman who was there. She had long orange hair and orange eyes, was a foot tall and very shapely for her size. The woman had on a white thin strapped shirt and blue capri jeans, on her feet were white strapped sandals. She also had on a pair of goggles and a silver and gold pendent on a chain around her waist. “Hi Falcon.”
“Hi Dove.”
Dove floated over to Daisuke, “And how are you doing, you’re staying out of trouble right?”
“Yes. Trouble free.”
“You had better be. Now where is he?” He pointed at Akira and she looked at him, she squealed and moved over to him. “You're so cute!” Zev clapped a hand over his mouth. “He’s just as cute as he was when he was little. He has her eyes, and her hair color, too bad he looks like you.”
“Hey!” She stuck her tongue out at Daisuke when he shouted. “That is not cool!”
Akira was still glaring at her, “Akira, let it go.” His stormy gray eyes looked at Zev, you could hear him sigh and he moved his hand.
Hawk floated over and looked at him. “Hi I’m Hawk. I’ll be staying with you from now on. I can deliver letters, gifts, packages, and memos to anyone you know. Well I have to know what they look like first. I can also do schedules and help carry things for you.”
Daisuke looked at Akira. “Before you say no, at least let her stay with you for two weeks.”
“Fine.”
“Yay!”
“That’s Zev.” Hawk flew over to him and looked at Zev.
“Hello, nice to meet you.” She bowed her head. “It’s nice to meet an upcoming Alpha or a werewolf. It’s my first time meeting one.”
“How?”
“Don’t ask, Zev, even I don’t know.” Zev was still confused even when Daisuke said that. “It’s one of the many secrets that they will never tell.”
“Oh.”
Akira looked at her; she had a grin on her face. “Two weeks.”
“Okay!”
Falcon floated over and placed a pair of fingerless gloves and goggles in her hands. “Take care of them; pass them on to your kids to.”
“Okay! Thanks daddy!” Hawk hugged her father and Akira looked away.
“Akira?” Zev was looking at him.
Daisuke was watching Akira and he smiled. “Hey Akira.”
Looking over he saw Daisuke waving him over. He walked over to him and he found Daisuke’s arm draped over his shoulders, “What are you do?”
“Did you open it?”
“Yes.”
“She wanted to give it to you when you were ten but…”
“Your still kicking yourself aren’t you?”
“Yes because as a father I failed to protect my only child, and I broke a promise to your mother.” He looked at him. “She warned me and I didn’t listen, I figured you’d be safe with my sister and you weren’t. If you ever need any help just ask and I’ll be there.”
“Hopefully it never comes to that.”
“Ouch, my own son is harsh to me.”
“Grow up, old man.”
“I’m not that old. Shit father was twice my age when I was born.”
Akira looked at him. “How long do we live?”
“The oldest case was three centuries.”
He hung his head, “Damn.”
“It’s not so bad. Just be glad you’re still alive.”
“Woohoo…” He started to walk off and he stopped. “Thanks for the picture.” Daisuke’s back was to him but the older male waved his hand to let him now he heard. He pulled the bill of his cap lower and smirked.
Falcon floated over and he saw his face, he sat on his shoulder. “Got to love it when they do something like that.”
“Yeah…”
The male on his shoulder looked behind him and watched as Akira walked into the Cabin. Hawk flew after him and Zev followed him into the cabin, “They grow up so fast, you wish you could be there all the time.”
“Yeah…” He pat him on the shoulder.
“Well me and Dove are going to head out. You take care now; I’ll be back later with the reply.”
“Thanks.”
Falcon and Dove left and Daisuke stood there. The sun was slowly making its way down when Flare walked over and placed her hand on his shoulder, “I’m going to start on the food.”
He nodded and she smiled.
“The sun will be going down soon.”
“Is Cyan back?”
“Yeah, he slipped into the cabin awhile ago.”
“Okay, I’ll be inside soon.”
She left his side and he couldn’t help but smile. His hand slipped into his pocket and he smile, “That’s right I gave him my only copy. I hope that picture brings him a lot of luck.”
^^^
Zev muttered as he rolled over, Akira was looking at him and then he smirked as he slipped under the cover. He shivered and started to pant. His fingers curled into the sheet as he moaned.
“Holy fuck!” He sat up and looked under the covers. Akira was smirking as he looked up, “What are you doing?”
“What does it look like?” He couldn’t help the smirk on his face as he saw the red blush on Zev’s face.
There was banging on the door. “Akira, get up!”
He pulled away and glared at the door, Zev was looking between him and the door. “Akira…?”
The brunette looked at him, “Damn.”
The banging started again, it was Daisuke this time, “Akira you have a lot to do today. Stop playing and get out here!”
“Damn it!”
“Glad you’re doing this willingly.”
“And if I don’t!”
“Zev will sleep outside; I know he can keep himself warm.”
“You had to ask!” Zev muttered as he lay back down, Akira climbed over him and looked at his face. “What?”
“I’ll do more tonight.”
“Okay.” He kissed him and then Akira was out of the room. “Damn it.”
Akira glared at Daisuke as he pointed to Davion, “He will help you with you psychic powers.” Davion was grinning as he quickly crossed the room.
“Hi Akira.”
He went to hug Akira but the male growled. “Don’t touch. I’m going back to bed!” Daisuke was leaning in the hall way, he had that look in his eyes and Akira sighed. “Fine!” He looked at Davion. “No touching.”
“But…”
The brunette was out of the cabin, he appeared in the door way, “Move it!”
The blonde looked at Daisuke and he waved him out. He followed after Akira out the door. Hawk floated over to Daisuke, “Is he always like that?”
“From what I head, yeah.”
Davion had five rocks floating around him and Akira was standing there panting, he was having a hard time getting past those rocks. When one was knocked away another replaced it. It didn’t help that he somehow was reading his mind. His eyes moved from rock to rock and then to Davion. How?
“You’re supposed to show him not kick his ass.” Daisuke was sitting on the pouch and soon Zev was standing there. The floating female was next to Daisuke.
“Just wanted to see how good he was.”
“Now that you saw show him how!”
“Fine, your no fun Daisuke!” The rocks dropped and he picked one up. “Catch.” He tossed it to Akira and he caught it.
“What do I do with this?”
“Make it float.”
“How?”
“Think, use your brain!”
Akira growled and chucked it at him. It stopped an inch from his face and he sighed. “You think I haven’t tried that before!”
Daisuke was standing up, “What do you mean?”
“I can’t make anything float or move.” He was standing there, “All I can do is see and feel what every Paranormal has going through their minds!”
Zev sighed as he sat down on the edge of the porch. “Maybe he can only do a certain thing. Like read minds or see something.” He sat up and then quickly ran into the cabin. When he came out he had something in his hand, he threw it and Akira’s hand shot out and caught it. Daisuke stood up when he saw the item; his eyes following the familiar object.
He looked at it and then he looked at Zev. It was the small clear spear, “What? How did you know I had this?”
“I saw you looking at it. Maybe it’s a clue to what you can do?”
Akira looked down at it and he got a weird feeling, an image flashed across the surface. He dropped it and stared at it. “Akira, can you bring that to me?”
Bending over he scooped it up and walked over to Daisuke. He handed it to him, “What is it?”
“Where did you get this?”
“Dunno. I woke up with it in my hand.”
“That was when Diter tried to kill him.” Zev growled out when he remembered. “I should of used that sledge on him.”
Hawk was looking at Akira, “Really someone tried to kill you?”
“Calm down Zev and yes.” He was right it was when he hung from the window by his neck. His hand rubbed his neck and he swallowed. “I don’t remember how, I just woke up.”
The snow was thick under his feet. He liked winter, there were never any storms. His body stiffened when someone hugged him. It wasn’t Zev that was for sure, his elbow slammed into Davion’s gut and he coughed as he stumbled back. “Damn…”
“Don’t fucking touch me!”
“Okay! I get it.” He held onto his stomach.
Daisuke sighed and shook his head, “Okay, now I know what you can do.” He nudged Davion and they made their way into the cabin. “Sit Akira.” The brunette flopped into a chair and Zev made sure to sit in the only one next to him. Davion sat in the one across from him, there was the sounds of rummaging as Daisuke went through drawer after drawer. He made a sound and walked over, placing a pencil and paper in front of Akira, he made Davion scoot over and then sat down. In his other hand were cards, “Okay, have you done this before?” Hawk had settled herself on Daisuke shoulder and watched.
“No.”
“Good, so I’m going to have Davion shuffle them.” He handed them to him and he shuffled them, then he handed them back. Akira watched as Daisuke sat the deck in front of him, “I want you to draw what I’m going to get from off the top of the cards.”
