Chapter 20

Chapter 20

“I’m home!” Minako saw her mom rushing from a hidden room behind the stairwell and knew it was coming before her palm struck home. Minako could only brace herself as the quick sting struck her face and left her cheek hot.

“Where the Hell have you been?” Akane Aino nearly screeched in her daughter’s face. “You’ve had Daisuke and I very worried. We’ve been up all night searching for you. I nearly called the police today.”

“Nearly,” Minako muttered, but Akane was not finished berating the younger woman.

“Where have you been and with whom?” Her nostrils flared as her anger surfaced more poignantly. “Who was the man who came here to ‘rescue’ you like some knight in shining armor when in fact he has only managed to get you in a heap more trouble. You are selfish.”

“I’m selfish!” Minako guffawed in her mother’s face so loudly that Akane was temporarily thrown off her tantrum. “I’m the one who is selfish because I didn’t want to be home and be raped by my-” The sharp sting returned before Minako could finish her sentence.

“How dare you say such slanderous words in my household!” Akane snapped. She stepped closer to her daughter and hissed in her face. “If he was raping you I would not hear cries of pleasure from you, and I do, every time. You are his whore and enjoying it, now face it.”

“I will not be his whore any longer,” Minako snapped. “I’ve set my sights on someone better.”

Akane sneered at her daughter. “Who? Nemesis Rose?”

“No, of course not.” Minako took on the haughty laughter of a rich woman happy in her marriage to a rich man, the laughter of a woman talking to a lesser being. The pun was not lost on Akane. “I have my sights set on Bartholomew Rose.”

“What?”

“What?” Daisuke’s outrage was repeated from the same doorway that Akane had emerged from. Akane quickly coiffed her hair and arranged herself, though her daughter’s cheeks were swollen she did not want her husband to know the damage she had incurred on the younger blonde.

“I’m done with you,” Minako snapped. “I’m moving on. Okay?”

“Stop acting so insolent,” Akane demanded once she had recovered what little dignity was remaining to her. “You will not be going after Bartholomew Rose and that is final.”

Minako cocked an eyebrow skyward and prayed that her assumption was correct. “Are you upset because he turned you down? Haven’t you ever heard the saying ‘gentlemen prefer blondes’, Mother?”

Minako dodged the sting to her cheek by stepping back. Akane’s eyes were furious and her words were as biting as the sting of her hand. “Bartholomew Rose is a rotten lay and would prefer to watch than do anything.” She stepped back and shrugged her shoulders callously. “Do as you wish, you can try to nab him, but you will not succeed.”

“I have not agreed to this, yet,” Daisuke flared into life. “She belongs to me.”

If Akane had not been raging with jealousy of her daughter Minako might have forgiven her all slights after the next words came out of her mouth. “Haven’t you had enough of abusing my daughter?” Akane ruined the heroic words in an instant. “Besides, she’s being soiled by those other men, and if she does lie with Bartholomew Rose, only to discover what a disappointment it will be, she will be even more worthless.”

“You chose Daisuke, Mom,” Minako snapped at her mother. “I’m beginning to think you chose Daisuke because you did not want to share me with the coveted Mr. Rose. You overestimate your feminine wiles.”

“Get back down here!” screeched Akane’s high pitched voice, Minako treading up the stairs happily. Minako ignored the screams of her mother, the argument that would ensue between Daisuke and Akane, Minako ignored it all for only one thought mattered: the seed had been planted. Now for Akane and Daisuke to bring it to fruition.
