Witness To -3

Short section!

Yay!

......... that\'s all I have to say.

-Witness To-

The house was silent. It was one of those unnerving silences, where everyone was thinking exactly the same thing, and yet no one had the courage or want to speak up. The adults were scattered over the room; Bitti was seated on the armrest of the chair Raban occupied, Suhayl and Gehlmen sat together on a short couch, and three other men from Fordwych occupied the other couch and chair. There had been mutters of making Kyin leave, but no one seemed to enforce them, nor did they protest when she took a seat on the floor - after all, they were only mutters.

“What,” croaked Bitti, startling everyone so bad the room itself seemed to gasp for air, “were we just witness to?”

“They child simply had a reaction to the lunfish scales, that’s all.” Answered one of the three Nanion quickly, trying to wave the tension from the air absently with his right hand. “I’ve heard that something in the scales can irritate the eyes and skin - that’s all it was.”

“Hawkshit!” Barked Gehlmen, pointing angrily across the room. “That’s hawkshit and you know it!”

“There is no need to raise our voices!” Raban hissed, leaning forward to scan the room.

“We all know exactly what we just saw,” growled Suhayl, making Kyin look up, “And you all can tell yourselves whatever you want, whatever helps you sleep at night, but I’m going to believe in the truth - We just witnessed the Boy of-”

“Suhayl!” Bitti started, standing as if she’d just realized Kyin was in the room. Suhayl, however, would not be silenced.

“We just witnessed the Boy being possessed by the Goddess! The prophecy reads that on the night of the first full moon after the attack he will be called. He will greet the Goddess through eyes that only he possesses, and then she will summon forth her powers unto him.”

“Well, it appears as if the old map-maker can do something else.” Snarled one of the other men.

“What was that?” Suhayl growled, standing.

“Suhayl, sit down!” Raban barked.

“You- you think…” The whole room fell into silence again as Kyin spoke, and all eyes were on her as if they, like Bitti moments ago, had just remembered she was there. “You think Rhin is- is the Boy of Prophecy?” She breathed, as if she were frightened of opening her mouth.

The room was silent for a few moments more before Raban sighed and nodded.

“Yes -at least, it’s certainly a possibility.”

“Oh,” Kyin said, fingering the edge of her skirt. “I’ve thought it for a long time now..” She whispered, turning her gaze towards the only window in the room, raising her eyebrows slowly as she watched a tuft of untamed red hair vanish towards the roof.
