A Demon's Fall to Grace
Second Encounter
Second Encounter
Salazar was grumbling while walking down the street in his human form (which unimaginatively just looked like him, but without a tail) He deepened his voice to imitate the angel, "You suck as a demon," then in his normal voice he yelled, "Oh yeah? Well your face sucks!"
While shaking his fist at the sky in hopes that the know-it-all snob would see it, he wasn't paying attention and walked out into the road. He heard a loud honk, and looked down in time to see a large truck coming at him. There was a screeching of tires on the road, and the smell of burning rubber, but when the demon remained unharmed he opened his eyes to see the truck's bumper inches from his face.
His head whipped around at the sound of loud honks coming from behind him, and watched a bus full of children run through a red light at the exact time the truck would have gone through.
He watched as a flock of angels appeared to collect the souls of the children that, thanks to him, had lived.
He groaned, "This can't be happening!"
A handful of demons appeared across the street to poach any souls the angels might miss, but were as confused as their angelic counterparts. The angel from before looked over at Salazar and smirked when he saw him in front of the truck that would have killed all of the children on that bus.
The demons approached Salazar, and a tall one with similar looks began yelling at him.
"Dammit, Salazar, can't you do anything right? We're all going to starve with you around!"
The angels laughed at the little demon that was shrinking in on himself as the yelling continued, and once the other demons left in a puff of smoke, Salazar's previous angel walked over to him.
"So, Salazar, are you just having a bad day or something, small fry?" The demon looked up in fury. True, he only came to the angel's chest, but maybe the angel was just freakishly tall? "Name's Malachi, by the way. You really do suck as a demon." He patted the smaller man on the head and laughed when the demon growled and tried to bite him. His tail was back, and it was twitching in rage.
Authors' notes: Still in the short chapters. These are meant to show little snippets of Sal's failure at being evil. They start getting longer about ch 7 or so. Please leave us feedback, and tell us what you think.
