Does She Need Me?

(SD92:. Moving right along.)

.....................................................
One

Christina walked out to her car, Frank was off today and would probably be asleep until she came home and started dinner. She got in and fixed her make up, when she was done she pulled out of the driveway and drove off. Elmer walked out of her house, he had had the greatest luck by one day being left alone with her purse. No one should have been in the room but then again he had been waiting for the chance so it was more like patience. He made a copy of her key and as if nothing happened gave them to a student who could give them to Miss. Lizzie and had been sneaking into her house ever since.

No one at work knew about his mental issues so he appeared to be trustworthy, a hard worker, someone who deserved rewards. That was why he had different days off than both her and her husband. He didn’t always stay the night but last night had been special it was his birthday and he wanted to be near her.

“See you at work love.” he said softly.

...........

Christina walked up the steps and saw Diamond talking to her friends, she waved, all week she had been trying to act like she didn’t have a problem with the group. Diamond grinned.

“Morning Christina, I love that shade of red on your lips.” she called.

She hurried inside and didn’t say a word, Freddie put an arm around Diamond.

“Why is it that the two of you are so friendly when she obviously doesn’t like any of the students here?”

“She likes a lot of students, maybe it’s just you she doesn’t like.”

He scoffed.

“Oh please baby doll everyone likes me.”

She rolled her eyes.

“Whatever you say.”

...................................

After handing back the quizzes Christina started a movie it was a reward for everyone keeping their grades up. she looked down as her phone vibrated. Glancing at the screen she didn’t know who the number belonged to.

--You look a little down--

Glancing around she saw Diamond waving at her.

--How did you get my personal number?--

--Do you really need to ask?--

She sighed.

‘Lizzie.’ she thought.

--You shouldn’t be texting in class.--

--But if you answer me I’ll stop and you said if we were quiet we could do anything we wanted--

She rolled her eyes she didn’t know why she felt the need to humor her.

--I’m just tired--

--Why don’t you sleep? :D--

She held back a small giggle.

--You want to talk about it?--

She almost answered her before her phone rang and the students looked at her.

“I’ll be right outside.” she said as she walked outside.

“Now if that had been one of us she would have confiscated our cell phone.” Kasey said.

“Oh come on Kasey, you know teachers have ‘emergencies’ and students are ‘disruptive’.” Megan said.

“What were you two talking about?” Lucas asked.

Diamond shrugged.

“Who knows I don’t remember.” she said with a grin.

“Oh come on tell me.”

“Who were you texting?” Julia asked.

Lucas nodded toward the door.

“You two are like really close then?”

“Not exactly, I was just making conversation.”

Her friends didn’t buy it but they also didn’t pester her anymore she looked up at the little window and saw Christina walking away.

........

Christina hurried to the front of the school her heels clicked louder and louder as she turned corners and went down steps. She opened the door and a punch to the face sent her to ground just as the double doors closed behind her. She spit out some blood and looked up at the red face of her husband. He bent down and nodded toward the camera that was well in sight, he had thrown a rock at it, what the kids said was true the security guards really didn’t watch that part of the building during the day.

“What’s the matter Frank?” she asked quietly

“I just have a question no reason to get so bent out of shape over it, oh does it hurt? Cry and really will have problems.”

She nodded as she chewed on her lip, her cheek was throbbing.

“Why didn’t you iron my suit this morning?”

“I was sure I did.” she said quickly.

“I’m going to need a better answer than that babe.” he said

“M.....master forgive me....this slave is an idiot she ought to know better but it’s difficult.....”

“Aww do I have to retrain you?” he asked.

“No master.....punish me as you wish.”

“Well since you were such a good girl I suppose I can over look it, stand up, I’m going out so I won’t be home for dinner but you’ll be getting up earlier to make me breakfast, understand?”

“Yes master I’ll set my alarm for 3.” she said as she stand up.

“Excellent, go fix your make up.”

She bowed as he walked away when he drove away she took out her compact that she carried for just this reason. Despite his looks he wasn’t someone to just over look he hit hard, and had been trained for more than just self defense. She was terrified of him and so far she was stuck where she was. She looked up as Tyson, the large security guard that doubled as an assistant coach walked outside. He was pale, bald, and had a thick mustache.

“Chris?”

She turned around.

“What happened? Who attacked you?”

She sniffed and shook her head, she rushed past him and into the closest ladies room she didn’t want to go back to class and she didn’t want to talk about what happened. She cursed at herself as she sat on a toilet and locked herself in a stall.

“You would think I would have stopped crying over this by now....” she muttered to herself.

She glanced at her phone, wishing Diamond would text or call her.
.................................................

“Maybe it really was an emergency she never just leaves like that.” Kasey said

“Maybe, why don’t you tell us later Di?” Julia said.

She shook her head as they got in their cars and drove off, Aaron nudged her.

“Need a ride?”

“No my dad is coming I don’t mind waiting.”

“See you tomorrow then.”

“Bye Aaron.”

He drove off and she went to sit on a park bench, she rubbed the back of her neck she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being watched. She looked up and saw the school janitor walking over to her.

“Yes?” she asked.

“Hi, I saw you talking to Christina are you a friend of hers?” Elmer asked.

“Yeah I suppose, why?”

“Well I’m her friend too and I noticed she was all upset and ran into the ladies room earlier but I don’t think she came out yet.”

“You want me to go check on her?”

“If you would, I can’t go in there.”

She got up and pulled her bag on to follow him inside he pointed out which one he saw her go in and she walked in. She took a glance under the stall doors and saw Christina’s favorite black pumps. She knocked on the door.

“Christina are you okay?”

She jumped as if startled.

“Huh?”

“Were you asleep in there?”

“....I think I dozed off....how did you know where I was?”

“The janitor told me he saw you go in here.”

“He went in the classroom?”

“No, school is over he saw me outside.”

She got up and opened the door.

“What? Over....”

“Yeah.”

“Crap.”

She walked over to the sink to fix her hair, she was glad she had bought waterproof make up she was sure her eye liner would have been all over her face by now if she hadn’t. She turned around

“Are you okay?” Diamond asked softly.

“I’m fine.”

“Whatever you say Christina.”

She crossed her arms.

“You know you really shouldn’t call me by my first name.”

“Do you not want me to?”

Christina looked down.

“I guess it doesn’t matter, I need to get my things I’ll see you tomorrow.”

She left and Diamond followed soon after.

...................................

“We talked to your teacher you’re doing well in school.”

Diamond looked up, she was eating another bland dinner with her parents, her mother was attempting small talk once again.

“Yeah, the work is pretty easy.”

“Have you thought about what college you’re going to?”

She shook her head her father flipped through his newspaper.

“Don’t pester her Lydia with grades like that she can go to anyone she wants and succeed in life.”

“I’m just asking Richard.” she said with a huff.

Diamond tuned them out as they went back and forth she didn’t know why they bothered acting like their life was normal anymore. They weren’t her real parents she knew that and was much closer to her real parents. She lived with the Phillips because everyone of her birth in her kind needed to learn the importance of equality and peace between humans and their own race. She also had to learn to control herself, as well as her abilities even around people she couldn’t stand. She visited her family over Summer vacation, her birthday, and holidays. She was suppose to complete her “training” at twenty-one but her stay was extended because of the accident. She supposed it was better that way she had a short temper and knew she wouldn’t do any good if she didn’t finish she would be useless when she returned to her parents.

Still she wasn’t so sure she wanted to go to a human college, her mind shifted to Christina she had been a little annoyed that one of the women she could mate with was already taken. Everyone like her really only had one mate and they only got one clue on who it could be. If that mate was taken when they were found they could find one other person that was similar. However she knew Christina was hiding something and decided not to give up on her just yet. She wondered how she could really befriend the other, after all just having polite conversation didn’t meant they were friends.

The following day Christina decided bribing her students with baked goods was better than telling them where she went. She brought large home made cinnamon rolls and coffee, for the most part they were more than satisfied. She let them work on any homework they hadn’t finished last night. School seemed to drag on she didn’t want to go home. Frank was moody again and he would most likely go off again his ties were going missing and she didn’t know how but that answer wasn’t good enough for him. She ran her hands through her hair and looked up as her phone vibrated.

--You look miserable, want to talk about it?--

She glanced up and saw Diamond watching her, she thought about it then sighed.

--Sure...why not?--
