Chapter Two:

Silas sat in a chair waiting for Amano to return, his mind running wild with thoughts of the many gruesome deaths awaiting him and his remaining crew. He pictured the giants tying him and his crew up on a giant branch the length of his ship, and roasting them over a huge fire pit. That image quickly left his mind only to be replaced with another image of him and his crew being torn in half like a piece of cloth. Silas shivered at that idea. He pulled himself out of his thoughts when he heard the cabin door open. A man Silas guessed to be in his mid-twenties entered with a scowl on his face. He started putting up a hammock in the corner of the room, ignoring Silas completely. As soon as the man was done with his task he left. Silas went back to his thoughts, but this time his mind went to his dad and how furious his dad would be once he learned that not only had Silas disobeyed his dad, but that he also got himself captured. Yup, his dad was going to kill him, that is if the giants didn't eat him first.

Silas pulled himself out of his thoughts once more when the cabin door opened. The giant he had been waiting for entered wearing a white shirt unbuttoned to the waist and black trousers. Silas also noticed a sword on Amano’s side. The sword was not the only thing he noticed. The iron shackles in the giant’s hands were the first thing to catch his eyes. Remembering his dad’s words about not showing fear to his enemies, Silas put on a calm face and asked.  “Are you going to use those on me?”

“Yes, I want you to get up and walk yourself over to the bed.”

Silas would have rather have told the giant to drop dead, but he was a man of his word. He had given the giant his word that he would obey his orders, and even if it killed him he would do it. Silas got up from his chair and marched himself over to the bed. He sat his butt down at the edge of the bed and waited.

Amano walked over and bent down on one knee. Silas watched as the giant removed his boots and socks, putting them aside before snapping the cold metal around his ankle and the other end to the big ring attached to the cabin wall.

“Where did you get this?” Amano demanded, eyes on the birthmark on the sole of Silas’ feet.

Oh-crap. He forgot about that. He was supposed to keep it hidden. His dad gave him strict orders to never let anyone see it. “ It’s a bloody birthmark. Now stop staring at my foot!” he snapped.

Silas’s eyes widened. He was a little weirded out when Amano caressed the birthmark like it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. But that was nothing compared to what happened next. He almost jumped out of his skin when Amano without warning kissed his birthmark.

“What did you do that for!?” he said out loud. “Don't just kiss someone’s foot.”

Amano laughed, then he stood up. “Are you hungry?”

“Yes,” Silas answered right away.

Amano walked over to the cabin door. He opened it and whistled. Right away a man came in with trays of food. After setting the food on the table, the man left just as quickly as he came. Amano sat down and waved for Silas to join him.

Silas got up and went to join Amano at the table. He ignored the sound that the shackles made with every step he took. He sat down opposite Amano and started eating right away. After awhile, he looked up and saw Amano watching him intently with a look of amusement on his face. He reached for the mug of water and took a long drink from it.

“Who’s your father little pirate?”

Silas choked on his water, shocked by the sudden question. “Whoever my father is, is none of your concern. Giant.”

“Very well.” Amano leaned forward, an unreadable expression gracing his face. “I'll know sooner or later little pirate, and when I do.....” Amano smiled, making Silas nervous as terrible thoughts ran through his head of what the giant would do to him.

Silas waited for the giant to continue, but instead Amano stood up and stretched. He then made his way over to the hammock. He watched the giant get into the hammock and rest his head on his arms, staring at the ceiling.

“Good night little Pirate.” A second later a light snore filled the cabin.

Silas highly doubted that his night would be a good one. He dragged his body over to the bed and sat down. He swung his legs onto the mattress and pulled the thin cover over himself. Silas stared at the ceiling and wondered what the giant was up to. There was no doubt in his mind that the giant was up to something, he really wished he knew what it was. With a sigh he rolled to his side and faced the wall. And right before he fell asleep, he hoped beyond hopes that he would dream of nothing but murdering the giant that slept in the room with him.

Silas woke the next morning to find himself alone in the cabin. He glanced at the cold metal attached to his ankle and wanted nothing more than to rip it off. The cabin door flew open and the same man from last night entered with the same scowl on his face. The man set the tray of food in his hands down and stared at Silas in disgust.

“Don't get too comfy human. You’re nothing more than a means to an end,” the man snickered and left.

Silas was quite puzzled. What the hell did that bastard mean? Silas shook off the man’s words and got up. There was a basin filled with water sitting on the table as well. Silas quickly washed his face with it. After he was done with that task, he started eating the food on the table. A few moments later the cabin door flew open again. Amano entered and shut the door. Silas noticed the books in his hand and gave Amano a questioning look.

“I thought you might want something to do, other than staring at the ceiling all day little pirate.” Amano put the books down. “We should reach Ardoillis in four days. These books should keep you occupied till then.”

“It’s your destination, giant, not mine.” Silas corrected as he picked up a book and flipped through it. Ardoillis, why did the name sound so familiar. He was sure as hell that he had never set foot in Ardoillis. He had spent most his life on the island or out at sea with his dad. So why was it that it sounded so very familiar to him? Silas shook the thought away, refusing to think about it farther. He looked up. Amano was watching him again, but this time instead of watching him with amusement like last night, the giant was looking at him in a completely different way. It was a look he couldn't describe, and it was making him feel a bit uncomfortable. Silas decided to ignore the giant. He returned his attention to the book and started reading. He was immediately sucked into the story. He didn't even notice when Amano left.

Silas had no idea how long he had been reading. When he finally closed the book and looked out the small window he saw that the sun had already set. The cabin door opened and two men came in carrying a wooden tub, followed by six more men carrying buckets of water filled to the top. Silas watched as they set it down and started emptying the water into the tub. Another man entered the cabin, carrying a neatly folded towel and clean clothes. The man set them on the bed and turned toward him.

“The captain wishes for you to bathe human. Get on with it, we don't have all day.”

“Bloody hell! No way! You’ve got to be out of your mind if you think for a minute that I am going to bathe with you crazy lot in the room!”

The man rolled his eyes at Silas then ordered everyone out. “I wonder what in God’s name the commander was thinking,” the man muttered. After giving Silas a look of hatred, the man left.

Silas glanced at his ankle and wondered how the hell he was supposed to bathe when the damn shackle was still attached to him. He got his answer right away. The cabin door opened once more and Amano entered.

Amano leaned against he door with his arms crossed over his chest and smirked. "Need some help?”

“Yes...” Silas hissed. “Get rid of this thing so I can take my goddamn bath! You want me to bathe don't you!?”

"Has anyone ever told you how gorgeous you are when you’re angry?”

"No! Now can you get this thing off? I want to bathe before the water gets cold."

Amano moved away from the door and came over to Silas. He bent down and removed the shackles. “You have ten minutes.” With that said, Amano turned and left Silas to his bath.

Silas quickly stripped out of his clothes and stepped into the warm water. He scrubbed and washed his hair as quickly as possible. Once done, he got out and dried himself as fast as possible. Silas noticed that the shirt and trousers were a bit too big for him. They must belong to the giant, Silas thought as he put them on.

“Damn, you look good in my clothes.”

Silas’s heart almost jumped out of his chest when he heard Amano’s voice. He spun around to see Amano leaning against the door frame, watching him with a big grin. “How long have you been standing there?"

Amano let out a small chuckle. “No need to worry your little head off. I just got here.”

“That better be truth giant,” Silas said sharply.

Amano moved away from the door, heading forward towards Silas. Once he reached Silas, he bent down to put the shackles back on Silas. When done he stood up and smiled. With a clap of his hands three men entered the cabin and carried the tub away.

"Tonight a few of my crew will be joining us for supper. While they are here I don't want to hear a word from you. Got it?”

Silas reluctantly nodded his head.

It was not until two hours later that the giant crew arrived. They were huge men,  Silas couldn't help but feel like an ant about to be crushed. They smiled at him as they sat themselves down around the table, making themselves right at home.

“Amano. You never said that he was this gorgeous. Hi there little guy. My name is Arun. Amano is my brother. If he orders you around too much, come and tell me and I'll be more than happy to punch him for you.”

Silas noticed that the man looked nothing like Amano. His hair and eyes were a different color. Instead of gold, this man had dark green eyes and red hair. Since he was ordered earlier by Amano not to say a word, he faked a smile instead for the man who offered to punch the giant sitting next to him.

“Don't flirt with what is mine Arun. Brother or not I'll throw you to the sharks.” Amano warned his brother.

“Heard you loud and clear brother. Never knew you were such a possessive person.”

“Neither did I,” said a man with light brown hair and grey eyes that shone in amusement. The man turned those grey eyes to Silas. “When Amano told us about you, I didn't believe him. Now that I see you up close, I can now see the resemblance.”

Resemblance to what? Silas wondered quietly. He glanced up at Amano with a questioning look in his eyes. Amano leaned down and whispered, “You will know soon enough.”

Silas felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned his head and found himself staring into a pair of sharp silver eyes. "Are you as stubborn as him?”

As stubborn as who? Silas found himself wondering again. He was confused way beyond words. What in the world were these giants talking about? Didn’t they have any idea that they were giving him a huge headache with all these questions and statements that he couldn’t understand in the slightest?

“That is enough! I didn't invite you all here to make him uncomfortable.” Amano gave everyone a stern look.

“Amano's right. You three are confusing the poor boy,” said the man sitting across from Silas, wearing the meanest frown he had ever seen.

The food arrived. And Silas was thankful for it. Everyone was quiet as they dug into the food. Silas ate quietly, his eyes shifting from one giant to the others as he ate. When Amano put his arm around him, pulling him closer, Silas glared up at him. Amano merely smiled.

After everyone had eaten and the empty plate were cleared out, conversation started up among the giants. Silas couldn't understand a word. He wished he did. Silas covered his mouth when he felt a yawn coming.  God, he was tired. He wanted to lie down and rest his eyes, but every time he tried to get up, Amano would order him to stay put. With no other choice and since he was feeling really sleepy, Silas rested his head on Amano’s shoulder and let sleep overtake him.

"That bastard isn't going to like it. Amano. He doesn't like to lose.”

"I know." Amano glanced at Silas, he smiled and caressed Silas’s face.

"Do you think he'll believe us if we told him about... you know...?”

Amano glanced up at his brother. "No one, and I mean no one is to breath a word to him,” he warned.

"He is not going to like it.”

“I'll deal with it when it comes.”

“We should get going, Amano needs to put Silas to bed.” said the giant with the beard.

The four got up and left. Amano carefully lifted Silas into his arms, not wanting to wake his little pirate up. He carefully put Silas down in bed, pulling the covers over him. He kissed Silas’s brow. “Sweet dreams little pirate.”

---------------------------

A man with cuts and bruises on his face ran as fast as his legs could take him. He had to get away. Get away fast. Once they found him there would be no mercy for him. The man tightened his arms around the bundles of gold and gems that would make him richer than a king. That is if he could manage to escape. He turned left then right into a dark alley, then right again. He kept on running, knowing beyond a doubt that the crew was right on his heels. He came to a stop when he saw the tall dark shadow before him.

“Oh God! No!” the man shook his head as he backed away from the shadow. He heard it before he could see it or feel it. A leather whip wrapped strongly around his throat. He couldn’t breathe. The man dropped the bundles and clawed at his throat, trying free himself. The more he struggle and tred to free himself, the tighter the whip got.

The man opened his mouth and managed to cry out, asking for forgiveness.

A tall man dressed in black, wearing a long coat that reached his knees stepped out from the shadows. The man had long hair mixed with silver and black. Despite spending most his time at sea, the man’s skin was as white as snow. The man’s expression was cold and unreadable. The man tightened the whip, his cold eyes showing no mercy.

“P-please… Cap…” the man eyes rolled back and he collapsed to the ground.

Raiden Lore stepped on the unconscious man as he put his whip away.

“Captain!”

Raiden looked up and saw his crew. “Just in time.” He kicked the traitor, sending the bastard towards them. “Tie him up. Death is too easy for the bastard. I have plans for him. When I'm done he is going to wish that he never crossed me.” His crew immediately went to work tying the traitor up.

Raiden entered his cabin and immediately headed over to his desk. He removed his black gloves and set them aside. He then poured himself a glass of wine. He sipped it as he let his eyes scan the map laid out before him on his desk. A knock came on his door. Without looking up, he gave his permission for them to enter.

“Captain, the messenger birds arrived a second ago with a message from your brother.”

Raiden put his drink down and frowned deeply. A message from his brother could only mean one thing. His idiot son had gotten himself into trouble again. “What sort of trouble has my idiot son gotten himself into this time?” he sighed out.

“Your son stole one of your ships and set off to sea with a bunch of men eager to make legends of themselves, Captain.”

“That idiot!” Raiden slammed his fist down hard on the table, knocking the glass of wine down.

“Captain, I hate to bring this up now. But. I told you so. I told you it was a bad idea to let the boy believe that he had conquered those ships.”

“Shut up Jess! Fuck!” Raiden paced across the room with one hand on his hip and the other running through his hair. “Did my brother mention which direction my son sailed off to?"

“North Captain.”

“Inform Hayden right away that we’re heading north.”

“Got it Captain.” Jess said and left.

Raiden sat in his chair and rubbed his temple. When he found his son, the first thing he was going to do was lock his son up and throw away the key. North! Out of all the goddamn seas, his idiot son had to head north. Raiden could only pray that his son would not run into the last person he wanted his son to meet up with.
