Memory

Rocking back and forth

Please take away the pain

Help me to forget

The person I wont name

Hold me tight against your chest

Help me to feel safe

Don’t be scared to place your hand

To the bruised side of my face

My cuts don’t hurt me anymore

The blood has all but fried from it

Just hold me safely in your arms

If only for a little bit

My memories they haunt me now

As the years fly past

The ones that I want gone for good

Only seem to last

Remember me as I was then

 And Not as I am now

And when the curtain finally falls

I’ll take my only bow

Then raising slowly to my feet

I’ll stand there on my own

Remembering the times gone past

And everything I’ve done

Then basking in that memory

My heart will split in two

when everything is said and done

I did what I had to do
