Manifestations

She woke to a destroyed room. Everything was thrown around. Her pillow was on the ceiling fan? But she didn’t care. Her face was stiff from the salt of all the tears she cried. I’m done crying, she thought to herself.

She walked into the bathroom and washed her face… and fell back after seeing her reflection. Her chestnut hair was gone, replaced with silver. Her eyes were still hazel, but they held a spark. A spark. Shit. She felt the humming under her skin. It was always there, but this was different. It was alive. She focused on the feeling and felt the heat of an embrace wash over her. Magic. She didn’t know how she knew, but she knew what it was.

She pulled on a pair of black faded jeans and a red boat neck t-shirt. She packed a duffel bag with a long sleeve shirt, her jacket, and some basic necessities. Then she left. She didn’t want anyone to see her this way. After all, a Gypsy Witch hadn’t manifested in over a hundred years. She was not about to be some science experiment. She left, not knowing where she was going, not telling anyone where she was headed. She just knew she had to leave.

Myrina traveled this way for a year, not getting close to anyone. She was a shadow, a stranger, another face in the crowd. She wasn’t noticed… until he saw her. She watched the green and black energy flow off him and felt nauseous. This would be bad.

She felt the energy rolling before he grabbed her, but she wasn’t strong enough. She couldn’t fight back and it was the worst feeling in the world. She only had her magic at her disposal, but it wasn’t enough. She wasn’t in control yet.

He pushed her into an alley where she landed hard on her hands and knees. She knew she couldn’t control her magic, but she could control some parts of the situation. She felt his hand life her by the hair as his other went across her face. She didn’t make a sound. “I have no money” she mumbled.

“I’ll take something else then” he rasped.

When she felt him on top of her, his hands moving over her body, she lifted a hand slowly. She placed it on his chest and pressed in. He looked stunned for a minute, but when he finally looked in her eyes, stun turned to fear.

“Let. Me. Go.” She growled at him. She felt a slight burning in her eyes and wondered what he saw. She saw his hand moving to pull her hand away, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you. I you do that, you may lose an important organ.” He paled. She pulled her hand out slowly, wondering how it was that there was no damage to his skin or chest. Then she pulled all her magic into her palms and forced him off of her.

He hit the wall with a crack and slumped to the ground.

“Fuck that was close” she mumbled, getting up gingerly. She took inventory of her injuries. Her jeans were ripped, showing bloody knees. “Damn, my only pair of jeans. You stupid, dirty, nasty, son of a bitch bastard.” She seethed, her jaw aching. “Fucking shit!” She raged. She made sure the guy was breathing and walked out of the alley slowly. She caught her reflection as she passed a store window and froze. Her hair, now braided after her shower, had a slight glow to it, but her eyes… her eyes were no longer hazel. A pure green was reflected in the glass. She felt the magic swirling inside her, like a fire trying to break free.

“Yeah I’m not obvious, huh?” she grumbled to herself. She ducked her head and ran into a nearby alley, peeking around the corner to make sure she would be alone.

She caught her breath and started breathing exercises, calming herself and the energy around her.

As she calmed, she felt an different energy coming closer to her. The power of the signature was amazing and powerful. She didn’t want to be on the receiving end of it.  She grabbed the woman by the throat and pinned her to the wall. “What do you want?” she growled out.

Then she noticed the silver hair.
