It's Just a Dream
This is a dream chapter so everything is in italics. But this means a thought
Chapter One: It's Just a Dream
"Night, you know I don't have that much time left-""Stop saying that. You're going to make it...I know you will"
"I can't believe you're still denying this and yet...I'm the one leaving this Earth and I've already accepted the facts. Listen...there's something I want to give you-"
"Not a chance. You're not giving me a gift and you're on your death bed."
"I knew you would say that. But, you don't have a choice. I had Aiden make this just for you." 'Aiden...so...I really don't have a choice' "Damn it. Fine, where is it?"
"In the same area where your mother and I always hide surprises. In the closet"
I couldn't help but smile at those words while I got up from my chair "You know, you and mom should really get a new hiding spot." I told my father. He just sent a shrug in my direction while I turned my back on him and headed to the white painted doors of my parents bedroom closet. My father was dying and all he could think of was giving me this gift. I don't know how he could accept it so easily, but I guess...when you're a scientist, you learn that you could die at any moment. Weather it be from an experiment gone wrong, or some kind of acid spill. However...I didn't know what my father had that was slowly killing him. He didn't want me to know and neither did my mother. They just figured that it would worry me even more. That thought sucked so much! But I guess they were right to not tell me because I was already breaking down inside.
"Night?"
My father's voice bought me back to the real world and away from my thoughts as I realized that I had stopped moving the moment I was in front of the doors. My hand was hovering over one of the handles of the sliding door and I was shaking just a little. I must've worried my father that way...and he didn't need anymore stress. Not in the position he was in. Mentally sighing, I glanced back at him, giving him a small smile "Sorry. I was thinking about what your gift could be" I lied with a nervous laugh. It was obvious that he could see through my lie as he released a sigh before returning a small smile of his own. At least he hadn't questioned me about it. I guess that was a good thing. I didn't want him to know that I was still curious as to what was destroying him. I quickly turned my attention by to the closet doors, and grasped the handle tightly, pulling backwards so that the sliding door would move aside. I quickly took note of the object that was wrapped in shiny purple foil with a white Christmas bow on top. I could tell that mom wrapped it because...well...dad was never good at wrapping gifts. Mom would always wrap mine and my brother's gifts while I helped mom with wrapping father's gifts. When I was still just a kid I would promise my dad that I would teach him how to wrap presents one day...but I guess it's too late to do that now. Letting out a sigh of my own, I kneeled down to pick the object up, only to find out that it was way too heavy for me to even get up off the ground. I groaned in aggrivation, which earned laughter from my father as I dragged the gift out of the dark corner of the closet and into the dim light of my parents room. It was then that I realized that not only did this thing feel like it weighed a ton, but it was oddly...crescent shaped.
'Alright, it's official. I have no clue what the hell this thing is. But, Aiden made it. So I have a clue' I thought. One thing was obvious though...seeing the shape of this present...it was painfully obvious that mom wrapped it. Finally done with taking it back to where I was sitting, I was panting quietly at all the energy I just used to drag this cursed item. Why were Aiden's gifts always so heavy? I wonder if dad even mentioned that it was for me and not for some random guy. "Whatever it is, I'm sure I won't be able to use it until I'm thirty" I mused. Father overheard my words and laughed lightly as he shook his head "I find it sad that you have everything from your mother's side of the family and yet you're still so fragile" he replied. Giving him a shrug I started to work on taking the wrapping off the object "It takes time to develop these skills that we are...supposidly born with. I'm just a late bloomer is all" was my reply. I was going to say something else, but the moment all that shiny foil was removed from the present, all coherent thoughts flew out the window. I turned my gaze to look up at my father in surprise, but his kind smile did nothing to answer the question that ran through my head at super sonic speed "Dad...why? It's still...too early, right?" A nod was the only answered I recieved as I looked back down at the crescent shaped object in my lap. "I know it's early. I was going to wait til your birthday, but as you can see...I am running out of time" he replied, but my gaze stayed fixated on the thing that was starting to cut the blood flow to my legs causing them to go numb. What was under all that foil and that little bow? Well...it was...a blade. A blade in the shape of a Crescent moon. To say it was huge was an understatement. It surely was heavy, but I would have to carry this thing around for the rest of my life. The steel shone brightly in the dim light as I lightly traced my fingers over the harmless metal where four perfectly placed holes were set. I easily slipped my fingers through them before trying to pick it up...I failed. The thing nearly broke my arm off. Either way, seeing this weapon placed on my hand...it was almost like I was carrying a huge and lethal brass knuckle. Although, brass was nothing compared to this thing. Oh, I could just imagine how much blood could be spilled with just a swipe.
"You should start training soon. Try to build up the strength to carry it around first before you try to weild it" My dad suddenly said. I rolled my eyes, but nodded nonetheless. He was right. If I was ever going to use this thing, I needed to be able to carry it without nearly killing myself. "Next time, tell Aiden that you're making it for a girl"
"I did. He still made it as though he were creating it for a male. I think that's a good thing. Now you can build up your strength faster" He replied with a playful smirk, but that soon melted into a smile and then a quiet laugh echoed through the room. I huffed at my father's childish-ness as I looked back down at the weapon after I slipped my hand out. "So, what are you going to name it?"
"Damn it. I do need to give it a name don't I?" I thought with a pout. What would be a good name for such a unique weapon? When my brother recieved his duel blades for his sixteenth birthday, he instantly knew what to name them. Why was it so difficult for me to come up with one? That's when it hit me. Brother named his weapons after his favorite thing, which were Eclipse's. I thought it was strange because, well...Eclipse is my brother's name. But, he named his blades Lunar and Solar Eclipse. So, I'll name this weapon after my favorite thing. "X I V"
"Hm? What about XIV?" Laughing quietly at my father's clueless-ness, I looked back up at him "Big brother named his swords after his favorite things. A Lunar Eclipse and a Solar Eclipse. I'm naming my Crescent blade after my favorite number. X I V" I declared. My father gave me a warm smile and nodded in agreement "I think that's a perfect name" he responded while I set the weapon onto the floor. "You know...normal parents would get their twenty year old daughter a car so she would have to use public transportation anymore. I was almost molested on the bus last time" I told him with a pout. My father just laughed in response and I rolled my eyes. Dad was a strange one , indeed. Normal fathers would've just went into protective mode, ready to kill the one who attempted to try and bed their daughter, but he just laughed. I didn't mind. Not at all. It's been this way ever since I turned eighteen.
"What do you mean 'almost' molested?" he suddenly asked after his laughter had calmed down. Shrugging my shoulders, I glanced over to the side "Let's just say, the guy almost lost his hand and I was almost kicked off the bus" hearing that just made him laugh even more. I groaned in response while crossing my arms "Why is everything I do suddenly funny?" I asked.
"I'm sorry. But you're the one making my last moments on Earth hilarious" he answered between laughter before calming down once more and becoming serious, but giving me a fatherly smile. "Night, I know that now you have X I V with you...once I'm gone, you're going to go search for Eclipse. You should at least know where he went" he said. I looked at him surprised. Eclipse decided to leave home nearly five years ago. I promised my parents that I would find him once I was given my weapon. I didn't know where he went, but I knew I would need something to defend myself. I was surprised...shocked to know that my father knew where he was. "So, where is he?" I asked, tilted my head to the side in curiousity.
"Germany. Bavaria, Munich. Remember that. It shouldn't be too hard to find him" The answer surprised me more than the fact that dad knew where he was. "Germany...why is Eclipse all the way out there?" I questioned in my mind. Letting out a quiet sigh, I nodded in a way of thanking him before leaning over to give him a tight hug that he gladly returned. After that, mom came home from work and she talked to dad without me around. Mom never liked being away from father for too long, but she had to keep her job, right? That same night...father was right. He didn't have long and...he passed away when he and mom were holding hands for the last time. The funeral was quick and I felt like me and mom were the only ones crying. Although, I was crying a little harder than my mother. I thanked Aiden for the weapon and a month after that, I left for Bavaria, Munich in Germany to find Eclipse. That was three years ago. "Night, wake up. We're here"
Is it getting good yet? I hope so ^^ Tell me what you think so rate and review :3
