Mine
Chapter 2.
My heart jumped into my throat. Why was Damien here? Who was he trying to kill? Me? Synyster? The owner of the club? Who was the woman beside him? Was she his girlfriend? Or was she part of the act?
Wait... Why was I jealous?
I looked at Synyster from the corner of my eye. He was watching the show. He didn't even notice Damien sitting there. Usually Synyster noticed everything. I was confused.
I looked back at Damien. He was still watching me with amused eyes while the thoughts ran through my head. The suit alone had to have cost him thousands upon thousands. It definitely looked designer and tailor-made. He looked like some rich boy who was out for a night on the town. And the people he was with looked like they all came from money as well. Especially the blonde he had his arm around.
I looked up to meet his eyes again and our gazes locked. The woman beside him was talking to him but he wasn't paying one bit of attention. Instead, he was staring at me with a predatory look in his eyes. Part of me wanted to march over to his table and demand to know why he was here, but another part of me was afraid to find out.
It was the first time I had seen him in a while. He was never at the Academy now, he was always away doing his own thing, ignoring everyone, becoming more and more distant since I finished my training.
I felt Synyster's hand lightly touch mine. "Sweet?" He asked softly. I jerked my eyes away from Damien and over to him. "Your heart has quickened, sweet. Is something wrong?"
Shit. To tell or not to tell? Synyster isn't stupid and if I covered up the Damien situation, then he'd find out sooner or later. If I told him Damien was sitting across from them, then Synyster would get suspicious. I decided to find out what he wanted on my own.
"N-no, I'm fine." I lied. He looked doubtful but returned to watching the show.
"I'm going to the bathroom." I muttered under my breath as I stood from the table. At that moment I was really wishing I had found a place to put the gun.
I moved through the grinding bodies and I finally moved to stand in front of his table. All six people sitting at it looked up to watch me. I had eyes only for Damien. "I need to talk to you." I said softly, but firmly.
The blonde beside him frowned. "Who is this Teddy?" She snuggled into him like she felt intimidated by me. Maybe she was like Donna, Damien's ex, and thought I had it in for little old Teddy.
Damien ignored her and smirked at me. "Yes, River?"
"In private." I insisted.
He slid away from the blonde and stood up from the table. He gestured with his hand, indicating that I should lead the way.
"Teddy, where are you going?" The blonde whined. I didn't even know her, but she was really beginning to get on my last nerve.
He turned and gave her a look. "To speak with a friend of mine."
She pouted. "You're leaving me for him?"
I caught a slight roll of his eyes when he turned back around. I wished I had a camera to snap a picture of it. I moved toward a hallway near us. It was dark and empty. I suspected it led to the bathrooms, but no one was going in or out.
Once we were both safely enclosed in the shadows of the hall I stopped. "What are you doing here?" I demanded.
"Hunting you." He replied simply, as his lips quirked into a slight smirk.
