Nickolai couldn’t help the urge to look towards the direction of everyone’s attention. Indeed, it was Mikhail who had entered the room, with a young woman on his arm. It was Jasmine, Horace’s daughter, who had done a fine job in her debut. Her black hair was tied up in a tight bun atop her head; her leotard was a beautiful pastel blue with the white skirt. She looked a bit flustered as cameras were pushed into her face, and turned back to Mikhail for direction. He put one leg before her, and began speaking to reports, efficiently blocking the poor girl from view. It was a gesture of kindness, something Mikhail never seemed to lack in the public eye. Nickolai almost wanted to laugh. If only they knew how he tried seducing a sixteen year old boy, if only they knew how Mikhail had debauched him in the most sensual of ways one dark night, he wondered what that would do to his image.
But it was a different time now, a different place. He and his family were no longer vacationing in Romania; he was no longer that wild child he had been so long ago. No one would even dare to think anymore that he might do illicit things for large sums of cash. No, he was now so tightly contained in an image of repentance, or change, he had become the poster child for reformed boys. He gave a grimace of distaste, wishing he could just go home now to sooth himself with more wine. The stuff he had sipped in his box had been lacking the heady fulfillment of a ‘buzz’ that he so needed right now. Nickolai turned away from the two dancers who were no completely obscured from view, he had already risked too much tonight just by being here. However, as he started to make his way through the overwhelming crowd, he was almost surprised to see Horace pushing his way through.
“Ah, Nickolai, there you are! I had hoped you hadn’t left yet. I want to introduce you to Jasmine, my niece, before you go.”
“I’m afraid I can’t, Mr. Horace. I have to find my cousin Elizabeth and get her home early,” Nickolai explained, not in the least bit interested to get any closer to Mikhail. The man’s face seemed to fall but he seemed unable to take no for an answer. Instead, he grasped his arm and pulled him through the crowds, yelling back,
“I saw Elizabeth and her date over in the corner. They are speaking to Mr. and Mrs. Bishop, and you know how that woman likes to talk. You should have a few moments at the least to meet my dearest Jasmine.” Nickolai tried to pull away, frustrated that the man would dare grab him in such a manner. Who did he think he was, his Father? But there was no use arguing his point over the roar of the crowd, as Horace was already forcing his way through the people up ahead. He dragged Nickolai along at such a rate that he jostled into people standing at his sides. There were a few angry cries, and Nickolai wanted to curse his head off. He knew this whole damned thing had been a bad idea. He heard the man call out to Jasmine, say the girls head pop up immediately. Nickolai was almost amused by the way she rolled her eyes before walking across the three feet that separated them.
“Uncle Mathew how good to see you for the eighth time today,” Her tone dripped with sarcasm, “And I see you’ve brought a friend.”
“This is Nickolai Mi’Carde, a dear friend of mine, Jasmine. I wanted the two of you to meet tonight. Nickolai is a generous supporter of the arts; in fact his name was just added to the wall of Patrons. You two have much in common.”
Jasmine gave him a scathing once over, black eyes scanning him up and down, before she added, “I already know who he is Uncle Mathew. I just really don’t care.” Her voice was low enough that the last part was lost on Horace, though not on Nickolai. He merely smiled in her snarling face, so quickly transformed from its mask of cool serenity. He could have said a thing or two about her fumbles on stage, but chose not to. He would be dignified tonight…and place a call to the papers in the morning.
He watched as the girl turned away, positioning her body so she only spoke to her Uncle. Nickolai resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Did she actually think her indifference meant anything to him? After the things he had done when he was a teenager he had been ignored and blocked out by almost every family member. He still was, even if they came begging for money at times. A mirthless chuckle died on his lips. After his Father’s passing, when the man had left everything he owned to his only son, every family member came to him, asking and pleading and begging for a mere thousand dollars here or the less than mere million that they had been expecting in inheritance.
‘And I sent them packing like the fools they were. How dare they try to ask for what my Father earned by himself, what he struggled for his entire life, when they chose less then honorable routes? It’s disgusting. And here is a girl who thinks I am one to trifle with....well we will see if she feels that way in the morning. He turned away from them, far from interested in seeing the obvious disdain the girl had for her fame hungry Uncle, only to let out a small gasp as he realized exactly how close he was to Mikhail himself. They stood only three feet apart, give or take several inches, with his focus taken up by the microphones and recorders pressed into his face. The man’s face was plastered in a bright smile, eyes shining bright with mirth, and his cheeks still flushed from the dance. Against his will, Nickolai found himself starring at the man, unable to avert his gaze if his life had depended on it.
Mikhail was certainly a stunning man; there was no doubt about it. In fact his beauty managed to cast a spell over his audience and admirers, men and women alike. He was the image of passion, grace, and masculine beauty, and that was exactly why Nickolai kept away. A person could not walk away from a man like that, he would consume his lover, leave them as nothing but a quaking mess when he was done. Nickolai could hear it in the messages the man left for him, see it in the gifts that were sent to him, and could feel it in the way the man went about his game of seduction.
A lush, curly, thick mass of chocolate strands tumbled down a perfectly straight back, shining under the dim lights of the reception area. Nickolai noticed that he looked tanner than usual, likely from his two week vacation in Romania, and his perfectly straight white teeth gleamed against the darker skin. He stood tall and straight, his posture always as impeccable as anything else about him, his sculpted limbs flexing for anyone who looked. One elegant hand rose to card through the curls atop his head, pushing them off his forehead, as he animatedly answered questions for the reporters. Nickolai let his eyes scan over the muscles in his arms, in his shoulders, down his chest, to the massive thighs made of pure muscle and sinew. His eyes scanned lower, over the length of his toned legs, even pausing to admire the black satin and leather ballet slippers, before sweeping upwards. He stopped as he realized Mikhail had turned just slightly, and his gaze stopped momentarily upon the mans obvious......endowment. Gods, he was one of those gawkers who giggled and spoke in hushed voices as they starred wide eyed at the almost lewd show of male anatomy always on display at the performances. He grudgingly had to admit though, that he had never seen another man as impressive as Mikhail. Even confined by the dancer's belt his masculinity could not be concealed.
Nickolai finished his sweep upwards, admiring the way that the red silk tunic clung to Mikhail's broad chest, and how the gold edging set off the richness of his hair. His eyes touched upon the long, graceful throat, up to the strong jaw and chin, over the plush lips, high cheek bones, and pert nose. He let out a startled gasp however, as his eyes connected with deep emerald orbs, and he realized that he had been caught starring by Mikhail Oblivos'e himself. Already one expressive brow was arched in question, those plush lips twisting with amusement. Nickolai felt his face go beet red as embarrassment filled him, hardly noticing as several flashbulbs went off to his left, wishing he could melt into the floor.
**
Nickolai thanked any God who was listening for the reprieve that they had granted since the embarrassing ordeal. For the past ten minutes since Mikhail had caught him so openly admiring his body, the man had been swept up by every news station reporter; every photographer working for some high profile blog or magazine and Nickolai could mingle about until Elizabeth was ready to leave. ‘Hopefully soon', he prayed to some unseen God, casting a quick look in Mikhail's direction. At the moment he was chatting with Aretha Madden, the editor of Virtuoso Magazine, for some photo-op or another.
He gave a sigh of relief and turned his attention to finding Elizabeth, his troublesome cousin, who had disappeared into the crowds a while ago. He thought he spotted her head of red hair above the towering people, but it was fleeting, and a moment later it was gone. He let out another groan as he politely made his way in between people, occasionally having to apologize for bumping into someone, trying once more to locate that signature red head. There! He spotted her leaning against a banister, talking to a handsome young man with floppy black hair, smiling and laughing at whatever he was saying.
“Elizabeth!" She looked up at his call and scowled, shaking her head at him. Nickolai frowned, realizing he was not wanted at the moment. He wanted to leave! He needed to get out of this damned place before Mikhail freed himself from those reporters and decided to confront him. He tapped the face of his watch at her, and then pointed to the exit, but she shook her head violently and held up both hands. 10 minutes. Ten minutes? He couldn't wait-
“Nickolai, how very lovely to see you."
Crap.
*************
Nickolai turned at the sound of the thick Romanian accent, and Mikhail's smiling visage filled his line of sight. He didn't know how the man had made it to him so quickly, or how he hadn't heard his approach with all his fans shouting his name even in this refined establishment.
“Mikhail, great performance tonight. Certainly the best I've seen of Avids Night. I'm afraid I can't stay too much longer however, as Elizabeth really needs to be getting home and straight to bed." He was rushing but he didn't care, however when Mikhail raised his brow once again, his gaze pointedly going over his shoulder, Nickolai turned to find Elizabeth leading the handsome young man down a back hallway. He cursed silently, realizing his fate had been sealed. He would have to stand and talk with Mikhail Oblivos’e a while longer.
“Thank you for your compliments, I'm very happy to know that you enjoyed my performance. I hadn't even realized you had come, otherwise I would have sent one of my men to bring you to my private seats. It wasn't until I felt your admiring gaze, and spotted you standing by yourself, that I delightfully noticed my Sweet Prince."
Nickolai turned scarlet at the mention. Gods, of course Mikhail would cut straight to the case. Now he had to think up some reason why he would be caught starring so openly.
“Well you see.....I was admiring your costume. It looks like something my aunt would have designed when she was still with us." He was glad that he could get the words out of his suddenly too dry mouth. Mikhail had a strange twist to his lips, those eyes sparkling with humor and something much darker.
“So you were admiring my tights when you were starring at my cock? I did not realize there were such people who admired the hosiery technique so much. I would of course be most delighted to show you them far closer my darling. Perhaps you and I could slip into my dressing room, and study each other’s bottom halves even closer”
If he had thought he turned scarlet before, Nickolai was sure he looked like a full on blood clot now. How could such an elegant man say such things? It was almost unbelievable; surely no one would believe the great Oblivos’e could have ever stated such things to anyone, especially not in such a place. ‘Come on Nickolai,' He told himself, ' Think of something witty!'
“I was merely admiring the fact that the things do not burst at the seams with such.....obscene display. One would think you were overly excited. In fact I am certain most of your fans would very much appreciate that ' closer view' sometime or another, however I will have to decline." He felt proud of himself; however the smile did not leave Mikhail's lips at all. In fact it grew much larger in response.
“I’m afraid you may have caught me, Nickolai, for every time I see you I cannot help but become so overly excited. It is a curse in the dancing world, with this awful Dancer's belt and the tights that constrict as my cock grows, but one I am fully willing to bear as long as I can gaze upon your fair face."
“And you wonder why I don't answer yes to your invitations for lunch or dinner? I would fear ravishment throughout the entire meal if you become so excited with no further encouragement then seeing me."
Mikhail let out a peal of laughter that rang throughout the room, causing people to pause and stare at the man in wide eyes wonder. Whispers started immediately about who he was talking to and why, and Nickolai was made more agitated by them. Finally one delicate hand rose to cover the sound, but those bright eyes did not stop twinkling in delight.
“My dearest Nickolai," Mikhail stated once he had gotten control of himself, “You think that just because we are surrounded by countless people that I would not ravish you here and now if it were my desire? You are foolish to think so, for my desire for you Knows no bounds, and certainly not proper decorum. No, you are no safer surrounded by a million people, then you are alone with me.”
Nickolai glared at the man, but couldn’t help the frisson of excitement that went through him. He remembered back to that trip to Romania, where he and Mikhail had met so long ago. He had been trying to tease the man, wanted to watch that self control break, wanted the beautiful man to pull him down to the floor and fuck him. But things had changed the night Mikhail had come to his bedroom, had held him down and tortured him in the most sensual of ways. He had orgasmed so many times that night that he cried when he needed to relieve himself, so sensitive was his flesh the next morning. But he wasn’t that wild child; he was no longer sure what he desired in the way of sex. What Mikhail had shown him that night, what he had done to him, he wasn’t so sure he could handle such a thing again.
“The past certainly proves that true Mikhail, but even you must have your limits. I myself have my own limits now as well.”
He watched as the man’s smile grew wider. “You are still ever the tease my Sweet Prince.”
Nickolai huffed at that, crossing his arms, cheeks growing warm. “I am no such thing. I have done nothing to tease you in so many years.”
“Surely you must realize that your very presence is a tease to me, when you deny me lunches and dinners, and so many innocent ventures. And yet you come here, of all places, and stare so openly at my body, and then deny me even more. What a fate I must endure just for the sake of your company.”
Nickolai could take the man no longer. He turned on his heel, and purposely strode in the direction where Elizabeth and her date had gone. It was time to leave. He wouldn’t stay a moment longer when he knew that relief came in the form of drink at his home. He heard Mikhail’s chuckle at his show, but he didn’t care. He stormed through the empty corridor and found a broom closet the only other door available. Angry, he ripped it open with no proper introduction.
After all, what was proper when interrupting a tryst?
A gasp sounded, and Elizabeth and Jimmy both fell into view, his cousins dress pulled down to lay bear her breasts, while her skirt was shoved up further to reveal her milky white thighs.
“Nickolai! Really, can’t we have some privacy?” Elizabeth demanded as she struggled to pull up her top. Jimmy was quickly fixing his pants, rebuttoning them, and then wincing as he caught himself in the zipper.
“You were supposed to find Jimmy and come right back Elizabeth. I wanted to get home,” he looked down at his watch, “Thirty minutes ago. Now come on, or you’ll need to hail a cab.” He grabbed Jimmy by the arm, dragging him out into the hallway. The man stumbled but Nickolai couldn’t care less. He averted his gaze from Elizabeth while she pulled her skirt down and rearranged her hair. When she finally stood up, Nickolai helped her out, and put her hand into the crook of his arm. She smiled and leaned her head against his shoulder, after giving a sharp look to Jimmy to follow. How fickle women were, to be entranced by a man in one moment, and completely cold the next. He would never figure them out.
They made their way back into the lobby, Nickolai focused on getting to the exit. He noticed that Mikhail was once again surrounded by photographers; no doubt he would be on ever newspaper come morning. Elizabeth broke off from Nickolai to skip over to the man, and push her way through just as Horace had done earlier.
“Mikhail,” She squealed, wrapping her arms around his shoulders as best she could at her lesser stature. Mikhail graced her with a beaming smile, and Nickolai caught his quick gaze upwards at him, and a friendly embrace.
“You did so well tonight, as always it was such a pleasure. No doubt you will still be dancing well into your eighties. You are just so absolutely wonderful!”
Mikhail chuckled and several more flashbulbs went off in his face. He brushed a quick kiss across her forehead, even ruffled her hair a touch. “You are so kind Elizabeth, and especially lovely tonight. Always flattering me with such praises that I humbly accept. I hope to perhaps see you again, perhaps another visit to the ballet?”
“Of course! I would be most delighted to come see you again. I would stay longer of course tonight, but I fear my ever annoying cousin is forcing me away,” She gave a dramatic sigh, “And I must miss out of the after party. I will ensure I come for the last night so that I can celebrate with you.”
Again Mikhail looked up at Nickolai, before adding, “That would be most delightful Elizabeth, and I will be expecting you. The managers’ box is always open for you and a date if you should so enjoy.” One more kiss to her forehead and Mikhail released her. Giggling and flushed, she returned to a glowering Nickolai and grabbed his arm tightly. A whisper went around immediately, of how close it appeared that Elizabeth was to Mikhail, and how her billionaire cousin seemed unhappy by it. A romance perhaps?
Nickolai didn’t glance back as he and his two companions made their way to the front door. The valet noticed his mood and quickly opened the umbrella to guide them all out to the limo that awaited them. Once inside, Nickolai spoke to no one, merely starred out the windows until they arrived at Elizabeth’s home. With a curt goodbye he sent them on their way, and told his driver to bring him back to his apartment.
He wanted this night to be over once and for all. Maybe the entire year at that.
