The Dress

Mia sat with her friends at a cozy little Italian restaurant at the Embarcadero. She loved coming to this particular part of San Francisco because it was on the water. They sat outside on pretty little patio and watched the ships sail by.

"I can't believe they actually let you out of their cage, Mia," her friend Jasmine said, giving Mia a sarcastic smile.

"Don't mind her, she's just jealous. For once in her lifetime, she didn't attract the attention of a handsome rich man," Joyce said smiling warmly at Mia. "I'm so happy we finally got a chance to hang out. It seems like forever."

Mia looked at her two friends and smiled. Joyce had helped her move from Tennessee to San Francisco, CA to start a new life. She had stayed with Joyce for six months until she was able to rent her own apartment not far from hers. She had met Jasmine through Joyce. Her friends were totally opposite from each other.

Joyce was dark skinned with a head full of long black braids. She was 5'7 with a lean body that didn't seem to have an ounce of fat on it. She worked out a lot and it showed. She was down to earth, business minded and practical. She was very independent and made her living as a store manager for Wal-Mart. She had given Mia the idea to apply for the personal assistant job when they saw it in the newspaper.

Jasmine was the first girl Mia had ever met that made her living as a professional gold digger. Jasmine never had to work. She went from one man to the next once she got tired of them or they got tired of her and even had the ability to talk strangers into paying for expensive dinners. Mia suppose she couldn't blame any man that saw Jasmine to not fall under her spell, the girl was beyond beautiful. She had light beige skin, golden brown eyes and long tawny brown hair. She had the body of a supermodel. She was tall, slim, with big breast that she loved showing off, a small waist and a flat stomach. Her hips were small but curved and she had legs that stretched for miles.

Kale and Aidan had met both her friends. Mia thought for sure they would fall for Jasmine and flirt with her outrageously as any other man did when she was in their presence. To her surprise and pleasure, they hadn't. They had looked at Jasmine as normally as they had looked at Joyce and continued to give Mia most of their attention. Jasmine was offended that they weren't falling all over her and had immediately labeled them as gay after they left. Mia had never thought Kale and Aidan was gay. They were close sure, but they did not act, look, walk or speak as if they were gay.

"So Mia, what have you been up to the past few months?" Joyce asked as she popped a piece of fried squid in her mouth.

"The usual," Mia said. "Work, work and more work," she gave a short laugh and twirled a piece of fettuccini around her fork.

"How are Aidan and Kale?" Joyce wanted to know.

"They're fine. I swear though, they act like they can't do anything on their own unless I'm there."

"That's because you're such a good worker," Joyce said proudly.

Jasmine snickered.

Mia looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"Okay, I've been holding this in for a long time, Mia, because I didn't want to rain on your parade, but I've had a lot of experience in dealing with men and those two white guys want you for more than just your work."

Mia looked at her in surprise. "Why do you say that? I thought you said they were gay."

"I only said that because I was jealous that day we met them, not too many people can resist me, you know? But I could tell they only had eyes for you, Mia. You'd have to be blind not to see that."

"That's crazy," Mia said. "They only see me as a friend and nothing else."

Jasmine let out a loud sigh. "What "friend" picks you up on weekends, takes you shopping in Union Square, and buys all types of expensive clothes for you?" Jasmine asked. "When guys do that for women, they want to get in her pants."

"Aidan was shopping for himself that day and since Kale didn't want to go, because he hates shopping, he called me to keep him company. He said it wasn't fair to drag me along with him and watch him shop and not buy me anything. He felt obligated to do it. I told him no, but he insisted."

"Oh really, then what about the time they moved you from our neighborhood to those wealthy apartments in Nob Hill?"

"They live in Sea Cliff and the Financial District moving me to Nob Hill was closer and more convenient. I lived in Bayview with you guys. It's a very far drive, especially when I have to come home late."

Jasmine scoffed. "That's a bunch of crap, Mia. How many times are you going to fall for their lies? Those men are just telling you those things so you don't get suspicious of their true intentions."

Mia sighed shaking her head. "Aidan and Kale are the most sought after men in San Francisco. Their looks alone could probably get them a job in Hollywood if they ever left the real estate business. So, what on earth would they want with me, their personal assistant, their "black" personal assistant at that. They probably only hired me because they think I'm cute and I'm not talking about looks. But cute as in, "aww look at the little southern black girl trying to work with the big guys, let's give her a job and pat her on the head."

Joyce nearly spit out her soda. She covered her mouth to keep from laughing out loud.

"And besides, you've think I haven't lived in this city long enough to not know the requirements to catch the attention of any male black or white? Heck, even the rich black guys here want girls that look like you, Jasmine. I'm not skinny. I don't look like a supermodel. I speak with a southern accent, which tells them immediately that I'm from the south. For some reason, people here automatically label me as stupid and slow once I open my mouth or "cute". San Francisco is almost as bad as Los Angeles when it comes to being shallow. The only difference is that it's cold here year round."

Mia was on a roll. She turned to Joyce. "And that's another thing, why didn't you tell me San Francisco was not hot? I'm from the south. I enjoy hot summers. Here it is in the middle of July and I'm still wearing sweaters! And what's up with all this fog? Does the sun ever shine for a full day? I mean I wake up in the mornings and the fog is so thick, I can't even see outside the window and when the sun finally breaks through, it shines for four hours before the fog comes right back in."

Joyce stared at her with an amused looked. "Are you finished, dear?"

"Nope," Mia said and turned back to Jasmine. "I'm just saying, it's hard enough just being myself here. Why would Kale and Aidan be attracted to me when they can have any woman they want? You should see the type of women that throw themselves at them. They look like a picture from a fashion magazine. They are rich and perfect and very beautiful."

"And yet, Kale and Aidan only have eyes for you," Joyce told her softly.

Mia looked at her in shock, "not you too!"

"You shouldn't put yourself down so much, Mia. Have you looked in the mirror lately? You may not have the same looks as Jasmine, but you could rival her with your own beauty. Who says everyone has to look like Jasmine in order to be noticed."

"Thanks a lot," Jasmine said dryly.

"No offense Jasmine, but at least you have something Mia seems to be struggling with and that's high self esteem about your looks. You should teach Mia how to appreciate herself. I know San Francisco can be hard on young black women who don't look like Jasmine. Look at me, I don't fit the quota, but you know what, I still think I'm beautiful and I have no problems getting dates."

Mia smiled at Joyce. "Thank you, I guess I needed to hear that. It's hard working around Aidan and Kale. I'm constantly thrown into a world I have no business being in and I get judged and looked down on a lot because of my position and race."

"You're the one that walked into that building full of white people and applied for the job," Jasmine pointed out.

"Well, I figured I had nothing to lose," Mia said laughing. "They either gave me the job or didn't."

"Still, that was a brave thing to do," Jasmine said somewhat in admiration. "It couldn't have been me."

"I was so shocked they hired me that I thought it was a joke. For like a week, I kept waiting for them to fire me at any moment, but they never did."

"Mia, I hate to say it, but I agree with Jasmine that Kale and Aidan may want you for more than your job. Don't get me wrong, you were qualified for it or else I wouldn't have brought it to your attention and I wasn't surprised that they hired you. You could charm anyone with that sweet personality of yours; however, I feel they've grown very attached to you over the past few years. The things they've done for you don't sound professional or even as a friendly gesture. From what you've told me, they have done several things that can't be explained."

"Like what?" Mia asked curious. Joyce was hardly ever wrong about her suspicions.

"Well, you have a key to their homes and they have a key to your apartment. They have a room for you to stay with them over night when you work at their house so you don't have to drive home late. And, when you work late at their office, they personally drive you home every single time instead of letting you take a cab. You have keys to their cars. They let you drive those expensive cars anytime you want. They constantly buy things that you like, for example, certain types of food you love to eat that they keep constantly stocked in their kitchen for you. And every since you've started working for them I haven't seen you go out on one date."

Mia frowned thoughtfully. "I haven't been able to go out on a date. They keep me so busy."

"Exactly," Joyce said. "Even on your days off, which are rare, they seem to find a way to be with you."

"Are you telling me they are purposely making sure I don't date? That's crazy."

"Not crazy if they want you for themselves," Jasmine said.

"Do you hear yourselves?" Mia laughed. "You keep saying they, not one of them, but both of them. Doesn't that sound strange?"

"Yeah it does," Jasmine said, "but I have a feeling they both want you and neither of them has a problem with sharing."

"Are you saying they want a threesome?" Mia eyes got wide in shock.

Jasmine shrugged. "I've slept with two guys before, and a girl and a guy. This is the city, not one of those small southern towns you're from."

The reality of having a threesome was too much for Mia to think about, especially with Kale and Aidan. "Okay you two, I understand that the relationship I have with my bosses can be mistaken as something more, but believe me, Kale and Aidan don't want me in that way. They have been the perfect gentlemen. The only thing I've got from them is the occasional hug or kiss on the cheek. Besides, they go out on dates a lot."

"Well, she's got us there," Jasmine said to Joyce. "I don't know any man that could be around a woman they are physically attracted to and not try to kiss her or make a pass at her. I mean it's been three years and currently going on as your fourth. Men do not have that kind of patience."

Joyce looked at Mia thoughtfully. "Hmm, they do if they're looking for something more than sex."

Mia looked at her stunned. "What do you mean by that?"

"I think they're in love with you, but don't know how to tell you. They're afraid they may scare you off."

"Okay, enough already!" Mia told both of them. "You guys have been putting too much thought in my non existence romantic affairs with my bosses." She laughed. "This has all been quite entertaining, but can we please talk about something else?"

"Denial, denial, denial," Jasmine teased.

"Enough!" Mia yelled.

Joyce smiled. "Okay, Mia we'll change the subject, but if I were you, I'd take our advice and open your eyes to those handsome men. Once you stop thinking they're not interested in you, you maybe surprise at what you see."

Mia's Apartment

Mia walked into her apartment with her arms full of shopping bags, threw her car keys on a small table nearby, turned on the lights and sat down on the couch in her living room. She glanced at the clock. It was twelve midnight. The television was on. That's strange, she didn't remember leaving it on before she left.

"Where the hell have you been?" An irritated masculine voice yelled behind her.

Mia screamed and jumped up. Kale stood behind the couch glaring at her.

"Kale, have you gone completely psycho?" Mia yelled at him angrily as she covered her chest, trying to stop her racing heart. "Why are you lurking around my house at this time of the night?"

"I told you I would call to see if you made it home safely and you turned off your cell phone," Kale said walking around the couch to stand in front of her. He towered over her like an angry giant. "I came here to see if you were just being a pain in the ass and not answering only to find out you weren't at home. Where the hell were you, Mia?"

"I truly hope that you were worried about me and this isn't the beginning signs of a stalker," Mia said glaring right back at him.

"We were worried about you, Mia," Aidan said suddenly appearing behind her.

Had he just came out of one of the bedrooms? When Mia moved, they made sure she got a three-bedroom apartment in case both of them needed to stay over. They did on occasions when they traveled and didn't want to bother driving all the way home late at night. She looked from one handsome man to the next as she stood between them. Aidan looked down at her in concern. Kale stared at her angrily.

Standing between them made her body react in a way she did not want right now, but she couldn't help herself. Such virile masculine sexy men should not be allowed to crowd her this way. All she wanted to do was reach out and run her hands over their very flat six-pack stomachs. This was almost like a fantasy come true. She blushed at the thought and tried to ease the sexual tension she was feeling.

"I feel like you're my parents and I just got caught sneaking in past my curfew," she joked.

"Mia, you have to call us when you're out so late. We worry about you so much. You're on your own here in the city with no family. Anything could happen while you're out with your friends," Aidan's voice was gentle and soft when he spoke to her.

She stared in those beautiful light blue eyes as they stared back into hers. Mia could have melted against him. She wanted him to take her in his arms so badly after saying such sweet words to her. She blushed, happy that her skin was dark enough to hide the color.

Aidan's light blue eyes darkened slightly as he stared down at her. He let out a loud sigh and pulled her into his arms hugging her close. "Don't scare us like that again? What would we do if anything happened to our little Mia?"

Mia swallowed. This was too much for her. 'Don't make me fall in love with you, don't make me fall in love with you,' she chanted over and over in her head. His warm hard body felt so good against hers. She laid her head against his chest feeling his heartbeat thunder in her ears. That was strange, why was his heart beating so fast?

"Mia, tell us where you went," Kale wanted to know.

She felt Aidan drop his arms from around her. Damn Kale! She turned towards the brooding giant. Those dark eyes of his bore into hers as if he could sense if she lied. "I went out to lunch, then shopping, then the movies, and then dancing. Yes, Kale, I went to a club and I had a lot of fun." Mia watched the bulging muscles in Kale's arms and chest stiffened as he tensed in anger. She wanted to run her hands over his muscular arms just to see how hard they got.

"Did you dance with other men?" Kale asked in a strained voice.

"Just a few," Mia said looking at him in confusion. What the heck was he getting so upset about? "It was no big deal," she found herself explaining then stopped. Why did Kale care who she danced with?

Once you stop thinking they're not interested in you, you'll be surprise at what you see. She remembered what Joyce had told her earlier.

She looked at Kale, really looked at him for the first time. He was pissed. He looked like he was about to explode in rage in any second. Was Kale...jealous? She didn't allow herself to think that. It was too absurd.

Denial, denial, denial...Jasmine's voice ranged in her head.

Mia did the only thing she could think of to calm Kale down which was catch him by surprise. She hugged him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him tightly.

"Stop being so angry all the time, Kale. You're going to burst a blood vessel one of these days. I appreciate your concern for me, both of you, I really do. You guys are too good to me. What did I do to deserve you?" She could feel Kale's body stiffen in surprise this time, and then he hesitantly wrapped his arms around her and held her as she spoke. She could also hear his heart thundering in his chest like Aidan. She looked up at him and smiled. Kale stared down at her. His dark eyes softened as he gently stroked her cheek with his fingers. At least she had tamed the beast for now, Mia thought.

"Mia," he said her name in a deep rich voice that sent pleasurable shivers down her spine. His head was bending down to hers, his lips becoming dangerously close.

"Mia, why don't you show us what you've gotten," Aidan suggested loudly causing them to jump.

Mia blinked as Kale's arms loosened from around her. What almost happened here? Was Kale about to kiss her? She continued to stare up at him as he drug his eyes away from hers and stared at Aidan. She turned to look at Aidan and caught him frowning at Kale. Aidan quickly changed his expression when he saw Mia watching him. He smiled and gestured to her shopping bags. "You know I'm always excited to see what you've bought."

Mia walked to the shopping bags in a daze. Was Kale about to kiss her? No, she couldn't allow herself to think that. It was just her imagination that's all. She needed to get over her attraction towards them. Now she was imagining things that wasn't there and that was not good, not good at all. Denial...Jasmine's voice echoed like a conscious in her head. "Oh shut the hell up," she mumbled to herself.

Aidan quickly pulled Kale into the kitchen. "What was that?"

Kale sighed. "I can't resist Mia when she's that close to me."

"Now is not the time, Kale. Get it together. I want her as much as you do. I would love to have her back in my arms again and feel that soft little body pressed against mine, but we have to take one step at a time. If you had kissed her, she probably would have left running. Did you see the confusion in her eyes when you let her go?"

"I get it Aidan, I almost blew it. I'm not as patient as you are when she's in my arms. If I don't touch her, then I can handle it."

"You think I'm patient?" Aidan scoffed. "A few more minutes of holding her and I would have kissed her too." He sighed and ran shaky fingers through his blonde hair. "She'll be the death of us, yet."

Mia had fun showing off the outfits she bought. They had Mia try them on for them. Kale and Aidan sat in the living room on the couch together, drinking wine and pointed out what they liked and didn't like as she went back and forth from her bedroom to her living modeling for them. There was one little outfit that the guys were completely against her wearing, at least in public. Mia had bought a sexy red dress with a low bodice and two long splits on each side that came up almost to the side of her hips. Aidan nearly had a heart attack. His hand flew to his chest. Kale sat straight up, his body ramrod straight.

"Where the hell do you think you're wearing that?" Kale asked in outrage.

"You don't like?" Mia asked frowning a little and looking down at the gown.

"It's not that we don't like it. You're devastatingly beautiful in it," Aidan said trying to find the right words to say without offending her.

"I was thinking about wearing it to one of the formal events we get invited to," Mia said looking at both men for their approval.

"Over my dead body," Kale said.

"What's wrong with the dress?!" Mia asked him wondering once again why he was angry.

"It's not the dress so much as you in the dress," Aidan tried to explain.

"Are you trying to give every man that sees you in that a hard on?" Kale asked.

"What?" Mia asked.

"Are you trying to give us a hard on, cause if you are, it's working," Kale said.

Mia blinked at him with wide eyes and slowly looked down at their crotches to see two very large erections. "Oh my gods!" she mumbled.

Aidan closed his eyes as if trying to get himself together. "Mia, dear, please go to your room and take off the dress," he spoke in a slow strained voice.

Mia ran into her bedroom and slammed the door shut. She leaned against it, took in a deep breath, and let it out slowly. Okay, this was new. Never in the entire time she'd known Aidan and Kale had they ever had an erection around her. And those were very big erections, on two very big men sitting on her couch. It was exciting. It was scary. She was completely turned on. She covered her face with her hands.

"Do you think she's coming out?" Kale asked as they waited for Mia. Ten minutes had passed.

"Why do you have to be so crass?" Aidan asked.

"She needs to know she can't walk around us in outfits like that and think it won't affect us. We're not monks for christ sakes."

"That's good to know," Mia said suddenly walking back in the living room in a dark blue silk tank top and pajama bottoms.

Aidan groaned softly when he saw all that beautiful chocolate brown skin. The wine they'd been drinking was making him a little too lose. He tried to keep his control.

"I didn't know you guys found me so attractive," Mia said as she poured herself a glass of wine. Her hands were shaking at this newfound information. It was very unnerving, now, being in the room with the ultra sexy men, but she wasn't going to hide in her room like a little girl.

Kale gave a short sarcastic laugh. "Are you blind?"

"You have always been extremely beautiful to us, Mia." Aidan said watching her as she drunk the glass of wine quickly and poured herself another one.

He glanced at Kale who was watching her closely.

"Well, what do you know?" Mia said casually, although, she felt anything but casual at the moment. "I guess I'm not just one of the guys after all." She giggled and downed another glass.

"Mia, honey, did we make you uncomfortable? We can leave if you want us to," Aidan suggested.

"What? Of course not, I think I can handle two grown men sporting large erections on my couch. We're all adults right?" She poured herself another drink.

"You always drink like that when you're nervous," Aidan pointed out.

"I'm fine, really." Mia smiled at him and raised a glass to them. "Score for Mia for finally getting her bosses to notice her." She downed another one.

"That's it," Kale said. He took Mia's hand and pulled her away from the kitchen.

Mia stumbled and shook her head. She never was good at drinking. She glanced at the men crotches again, disappointment showed on her pretty face. "Aww...they're gone."

Aidan covered his mouth to keep from laughing.

"Damn," Kale said. "It went straight to her head." He sat her on the couch between them and sat beside her watching her closely.

Mia looked at Kale and then at Aidan. "My friends said you guys wanted me."

Kale and Aidan glanced at each other in surprise.

"Really now?" Kale asked slowly.

"Yep, said you were all hot and bothered for me," Mia laughed. "I so totally didn't believe them."

"Why didn't you believe them?" Aidan asked.

Mia turned to him. "Hello? Southern black girl with no money or status here," she laughed and shook her head. "Duh."

"Is that what you think Mia, that we couldn't possibly want you because of those things?" Aidan asked.

"Um yeah," Mia said talking like a valley girl then fell back against the couch giggling.

"She's drunk already," Kale said shaking his head.

"But, I think she's telling the truth," Aidan said looking at Mia tenderly.

"Then I guess we'll have to prove she's wrong," Kale said.

Mia yawned sleepily and stretched out on top of Aidan and Kale. Her head and back laid on Aidan's lap and her legs and feet on Kale's lap. She gave Aidan a sweet smile and began stretching in front of him as she yawned again, giving him a full view of her double D breasts. Her nipples were hard from the coolness of the room and strained against the thin tank top.

"Ahh, Mia, don't do this to me," Aidan groaned as he stared down at the sexy beautiful woman in his lap. He could feel himself hardening again.

"My gods," Kale whispered as he watched the display before them. He wanted nothing more than to raise her tank top and latch his lips on those voluptuous breasts. His hands ached to run over her beautiful dark skin to see if it felt as smooth and silky as it looked. "Aidan, get her out of here, before I do something I regret," Kale ordered hoarsely.

Aidan wasted no time gathering her in his arms. "Okay our little drunk, it's time to go to bed. It's two in the morning." He stood up and began to carry her to her room.

Mia waved at Kale, "night, night!"

Kale took a sip from his wine as he watched his adorable little beauty carried away to her bedroom.

Aidan laid her on the bed and pulled the covers from under her. He pulled them over her gently and kissed her on the forehead. "Good night, Mia."

"Are you leaving?" She asked.

"No, we'll spend the night and make sure you wake up in the morning," Aidan smiled at her. "You shouldn't drink wine that way. It goes straight to your head."

"Aidan, did you really mean it when you said I was beautiful?"

"Wasn't there plenty of evidence to see we weren't lying?"

Mia blushed.

"Go to sleep, Mia. We'll talk more in the morning." He kissed her forehead, smiled at her warmly, and left.

Mia closed her eyes. It didn't take long before she passed out from the alcohol in her system.

Aidan looked at Kale who was still looking tense when he walked back in the living room. "We're spending the night."

Kale nodded. "This is hard. We have to tell Mia how we feel. She should at least know before we lose control and do something to scare her off."

"We may scare her off anyway by telling her, but I think you're right. This can't wait any longer. We'll tell her what we need from her and give her a chance to let it sink in. She has to be aware that she can't do certain things around us and think it doesn't affect us."

"I can't believe she thought we saw her as just one of the boys," Kale shook his head.

"She had no clue until tonight that we're attracted to her. I thought she'd at least have some type of clue. Hell, even her friends knew." Aidan said.

"She could be in denial, after all, she did make that comment about why we wouldn't want her," Kale said.

Aidan sighed. "Silly woman...I suppose we have to be more upfront with her. She never could understand subtle hints."

Kale stood up and walked to his room. "I don't know about you, but I need to take a cold shower."
