Demons are Stupid
As birds chirped their usual cheerful song, a youthful-looking man frowned out the window. To him, all the birds were simply making noise. Still, he couldn’t just simply get rid of them. After all, his young charge seemed to like birds… at least enough to tell him not to kill them anymore. Speaking of the teen, the man glanced over at him. The boy was at his laptop again, typing away. Daeyr didn’t understand the thing, at all. In fact, he was horrible with just about all technology.
His first day living with Tsukasa… he broke the refrigerator. A few minutes after that, he did something to make the dishwasher smoke. The next day… the television blew up. Daeyr had gotten smarter since then, but still destroyed things from time to time. Just last week, he was seen saying farewell to their fifth dishwasher, crying as the garbage truck took it away.
“Why are you staring?” Daeyr blinked his eyes, focusing back on Tsukasa again. The teen was watching him cautiously.
“I’m sorry,” the demon apologized, sitting in a chair. “I wasn’t actually staring, really!”
“You’re being defensive.”
“I am not!”
“You’re being an idiot.”
“…” Daeyr couldn’t figure out a way to argue that point.
The rest of the day went on in a sort of pleasant silence. At dinner time, Tsukasa stood up, turning off his computer. “Daeyr… we should go out for food tonight.”
The demon just pouted at him. “I thought you liked my cooking.”
The boy looked back. “I do, but… if we stay here and eat, it’ll only stay quiet. Besides, I’m sure you’d love being outside again for a while.”
Daeyr grinned in his mischievous way. “Oh yes…”

The nighttime air brushed passed them. Tsukasa felt a bit chilled, but almost laughed right out loud when he looked at Daeyr, his whole body shivering in the cold breeze. “Do demons get sick?” the boy just had to ask.
“W-well, i-it’s possible,” Daeyr admitted, sneezing afterwards.
Tsukasa rolled his eyes. “What an idiot… You could have put on more clothes, but no, you just had to look what you call ‘sexy’. If you really want to get laid, then why don’t you just go out on your own and pick someone up?”
“N-n-n-nooo.”
“Ah, looky, it’s sweet little Daeyr! Why are you playing with a human?” A little girl ran up to them, a cheerful smile on her face. Though her clothes were meant for a much… older woman, one that loves showing skin.
“Ugh, Daeyr…” Tsukasa shot him a disgusted look. “How could you do that to a little girl?!”
“What are you talking about?!” questioned the already freezing demon. “She’s not little!! She’s at least two-hundred or three-hundred-years-old!!!”
“That’s right!” She looked at Tsukasa. “Oh, for a human, you’re sooo adorable!! I just wanna eat you up!!”
“No, don’t touch him, Chia,” Daeyr told her.
“Why not?” she asked. “I don’t see your mark on him anywhere.”
“Y-yeah, well it’s just not there y-y-yet!!”
The teen sighed and walked away from the two weirdos, pretending not to know either of them as he went into the restaurant for dinner. During his quiet meal, he heard others laugh about the two people arguing outside, thinking it to be a brother and sister quarrel. Tsukasa didn’t pay much attention to the conversations though, just wanting to enjoy a good meal in peace. By the time Daeyr and Chia came inside and joined him, he handed the bill to Daeyr. “You’re paying.”
