Chapter Two:

They were surrounded before they could even make it out of town. Dara’s uncle placed himself in front of his nephew. “Let us leave!” He did not ask but demanded that they let him and his nephew through. Up above in the dark night sky, the reddish dragon gazed down upon the scene below him, waiting for the right moment to swoop down and grab the boy.

“We can't let you leave Keelan,” said the town chief. “If you disappear from town with the boy, our entire town will be slaughtered. I can't allow that.”

“What you are saying Chief, is that my nephew’s life is not as important when compared to all of yours and the rest of the people who reside in this town. I think not Chief. My nephew’s life is just as important as yours and the rest of you people who are here...”

“Stop being selfish Keelan!” the town chief interrupted angrily.

“Selfish? Me? I think not. Let me ask you this Chief, if it was your son or daughter who was chosen, would you sit there and let them take him or her away without a fight? If you love your son or daughter as much as I love my nephew, then the answer is very simple isn't it?” said Keelan, his voice filled with anger as his eyes shifted to everyone who was present. He got the reaction he wanted when they all went quiet, lowering their heads.

The sound of flapping wings drew Dara’s attention from the situation before him. He looked up just as a huge reddish dragon with white horns on each side of its head and big batlike wings came swooping down and grabbed him with its powerful claws. It knocked his uncle down. Dara saw his uncle lying unconscious on the ground. He struggled with all the strength he had to free himself from the powerful grip of the dragon’s claws. He stretched out his right hand yelling for his uncle. He saw the town chief pick his uncle up and drag him away as everyone went running in all directions screaming “Dragons! The dragons are here!”

“I will take care of your uncle!” Dara heard the town chief scream out to him as the dragon flew higher into the night sky, carrying him away.

The dragon’s palace seemed out of this world. It was huge and magnificent and the inside was richly decorated. This was Dara’s impression when he arrived at the Dragon of the East’s palace. As soon as the huge dragon freed him from its grasp, he backed away from it. He took out his dagger and pointed it towards the dragon, giving it a warning glare to stay away from him. The dragon’s eyes lit up with amusement. Then it reached forward ignoring the boy’s warning. Before it could reach him, Dara slashed the dragon’s claws with his dagger, just as the dragon’s servant boy came walking inside to meet his master.

“Guards seize him!” the servant boy commanded. Dara was not about to stand there and let them take him without a fight. With dagger in hand, Dara waited for the guards to approach him. He was ready for them the moment they got close. He didn't even move his feet, his dagger went right through the palms of the first guard who reached for him. The guard screamed out in pain. He pulled out his dagger and stabbed the second guard through the wrist causing him to cry out in pain as well. The third and the fourth came at him all at once. He stabbed the fourth guard in the belly with his dagger and give a powerful kick with his right leg to the third, sending the third guard flying through the air. The third guard hit the wall hard before landing onto the marble floor with a loud thud.

Before he could cause any more damage, the servant boy snuck up behind Dara and knocked him out with the back end of his sword. Dara fell to the cold marble floor, he was out cold. The servant boy turned to his master who was now in his human form. His master walked over to the boy. He touched the boy’s cheek gently with his good hand as he gazed down at the unconscious boy.

“Put him with the rest of the boys.”

“Yes Master,” replied the servant boy.

Dara’s hands were tied tightly together behind his back to prevent him from harming the servants. He was not pleased about it at all when he regained consciousness. He found himself in a room full of boys who were around his age and older. They were all staring at him. Dara glared furiously at each and everyone in the room, demanding that they untie him.

“I'm afraid not,” said the servant boy.

“Why? Is it because you don't want me to defend myself from you dragons?” he snapped, ignoring the others around him.

“There is no need for you to defend yourself boy, no one here is going to harm you,” said the servant boy.

Dara wasn't reassured at all. His mother had told him many times when he was small about how ruthless the dragons were. He was not about to believe a word they said. He took them all by surprise when he leapt out of bed and raced out of the room. He moved too fast for them. He dodged left and right, away from the outstretched hands reaching out to catch him. He was out the door and down the big hall in a matter of seconds. “After him!” Dara heard as he made his escape.

He could hear them coming. Dara looked from left to right, looking for a place to hide. Seeing a door wide open at the other end of the hall, he raced towards it and kicked the door shut with his feet. He leaned his back against it and took a deep breath. The sound of clapping came from his left side. He looked in that direction and his eyes widened in surprise. There sitting comfortably in a chair, with one leg over the other, was a man he had seen before.

Vasile remained seated in his chair, his eyes on the boy. "Who are you?” he heard the boy ask. He smirked, “I'm the one who brought you here boy,” he replied. Then he stood up from his chair and made his way towards Dara.

Dara came out of his shock and jumped back when the man took a step closer toward him. For a second Vasile saw fear in the boy’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by anger. “Why have you brought me here?” Dara asked.

“To be a part of my harem,” answered Vasile. He could feel the boy’s anger. This surprised him a bit. Most of the boys he brought there would have cowered before him in fear, pleading with tears in their eyes, or they would have jumped with joy that they had gotten such attention from him. There had never been one like this boy before.

“I would rather that you kill me this instant than to become one of your harem boys!” Dara retorted, his voice filled with hostility towards the man before him.

Vasile laughed, just as the door to his chamber opened. His servant boy stood there with his hands on his hips, wearing a frown on his face. “Sasha how nice of you to join us,” he said with a smirk.

“I'm in no mood for your sense of humor Master,” said Sasha as he walked right over to the boy and gripped him tightly by the arm. “Come on boy. You are returning with me. I think that you have caused enough commotion for one night.”

“Like hell I will!” snapped Dara as he struggled to free himself from Sasha’s hold on him. Sasha tightened his grip on the wild boy even more. He turned to his master, “Out of all the boys you met, you had to go and choose this one. Really Master, what were you thinking?” he complained and left the room dragging the boy with him, not waiting for his master to give him an answer.

Vasile relaxed in his chair. The boy was different from the other boys he had here in his harem, and that made him want the boy even more. When he first met the boy, he knew that he had to claim him before the other dragons who were present that night did. He would give the boy two days to settle in and accept his fate, then he would take the boy to his bed. Oh God! How he looked forward to it.

----------------

To prevent him from escaping again, Dara’s legs were bound tightly together to his ankles. A white cloth rolled into a ball was stuffed into his mouth, preventing him from yelling out another word. It was really late and Sasha was really tired. He pulled the cover over the boy’s body. He shook his head at the boy glaring at him. “I will untie you tomorrow. Right now get some sleep,” he said to Dara. Then he left, hoping that when tomorrow came the boy would be easier to deal with.

The next day proved to be as difficult as last night when the boy refused to eat. “Come on boy, you must eat something,” said Sasha.

“Why?” asked Dara.

Sasha stared down with worry at the boy lying on the bed with his hands and legs bound together. He untied the boy that morning but the boy once more attempted to make his escape. He was left with no other choice than to bind the boy’s hands and legs once again.

"Do you want to die boy?" Sasha asked Dara.

Dara looked up at the man. “It is better to be dead than to be raped by that dragon you call Master,” said Dara, his voice cold with hostility.

“Look boy, it isn't as bad as you think. My master is a gentle lover. If you don't believe me, you can ask all the boys in his harem. They were all once like you, refusing to be a part of my master’s harem. They all changed once they found out how kind and gentle my master is.” Sasha tried his damn hardest to convince the boy. Two days from now his master was planning to take the boy, and Sasha wanted to make it easier for Dara by convincing the boy to accept his fate. For his master’s anger was not one to be reckoned with when provoked.

“When I grow wings on my back, I'll believe you!” Dara retorted with sarcasm.

The boy was stubborn beyond words. Everything he said went right by the boy’s ears. Sasha shook his head and sighed. “Very well, if you must do it that way, then so be it. When my master finally takes you to his bed, you will wish that you had the strength in you to keep up with him,” commented Sasha.

Dara refused to comment on that. He remained silent, but inside he was boiling up with rage. Like hell he would let that damn dragon touch him.
