Treasure at Oak Manor - Clues
Treasure at Oak Manor
Game-for-a-laugh chap about town, Cuthbert Rigby, had some rather tragic news recently; his lovely old great uncle, Uncle Albert, had passed away. Eager to ease the strain of grief on his family, Cuthbert agreed to go to the old man’s magnificent house, Oak Manor, to help sort out his belongings. His companions for the task were his rather prudish maternal aunt, Mavis, her equally prudish husband and their two grown children, who weren’t much fun either.
To Cuthbert’s delight however, the outing was rather more interesting than he could have predicted, as Great-Uncle Albert had had some rather risqué pastimes, and some evidence of these still remained around his house.
From the clues below, can you work out which member of the family found each item, which room of the Manor they found it in and their reaction upon finding it?
1. When the lady who discovered the large bottle which she originally thought to be massage oil (which she then turned around to reveal the label stating ‘Dr Lovegood’s Special Recipe Anal Pleasure Lube’) she was so surprised that she spilled it on the floor and slipped over in it! Luckily she wasn’t in the attic, three stories above ground, or she may well have fallen through the rickety floorboards.
2. When Cousin Tommy, who’d always been exceptionally fond of Great Uncle Albert in a manner that Cuthbert felt was a little over the top (a man of 26 asking to sit in a relative’s lap was a bit bloody much), was so stunned when he made his discovery he wet himself! Or, at least, that was the excuse he gave for the damp patch on the front of his trousers… This took place in a ground floor room.
3. One relative was stunned to find, after spending nearly two hours wrestling with the lock on the underground cellar door, a set of wooden stocks planted sturdily in the concrete floor, not to mention the unusual implements hung neatly on the walls. So much for the fabled wine collection they’d been hoping for. Cuthbert, who didn’t want to get dust all over one of his best suits, had refused to go into the cellar.
4. One person, having made a discovery in Great Uncle Albert’s bedroom, decided to spare the dear old man any post-mortem shame and cunningly wrapped it up to ‘secretly remove’ it from the house. Anyone else would call this stealing, but this person was rather the cheeky type.
5. Aunt Mavis discovered what she originally thought was a rather unusual earring. While she was looking for the other of the pair however, Cuthbert took pity and revealed to her that it was in fact a Prince Albert. Great Uncle Albert had always insisted he was named after Prince Albert, but whether he meant the member of the Royal family or the genital piercing he’d inherited a fondness for from his rather adventurous father, nobody knew.
6. A careful search of the large library, where it was rumoured Great Uncle Albert had stashed his valuable collection of etchings, revealed in fact a portrait of the late great man painted some decades ago when he was in his thirties, showing him nude and reclining in a scandalous pose on a bed. Painted by a talented ex-lover, the lascivious stare cast at the viewer by the striking fellow was a sight to stir the blood! He’d been a fine looking man and the family agreed it was a culturally valuable artwork and an argument ensued over who should have the honour of displaying it in their private rooms.
7. It’s a terrible stereotype to continue, but it was a woman that fainted upon her discovery at the house. However, it was a man who, having only a few hours earlier boasted of his strong constitution, ran from the house in shock upon finding an unexpected item in one room.
Here are all the names of the people involved, the rooms fo the house, the items found and the people's reactions. Happy puzzling!
