Chapter Two: Sweet Words of Nothing
Alex happily skipped along the sidewalk a few days later, enjoying his Saturday afternoon, singing a random song to himself. Today he was wearing a black t-shirt with pink lettering saying “Princess”, white arm warmers with black ribbons criss-crossing on the top, and a cheery flavored ring pop on his right hand. His pants were skin-tight and dark blue, with holes that he himself made in them, showing off his black knee-high socks with orange pumpkins on them. He was once again wearing his purple high-heeled platform shoes. His upside-down black heart necklace hung loosely around his neck.
He loved the weekends. They were the best time to try hooking up with guys. Alex had a hard time convincing men that he didn’t mind jumping into the sexual part of the relationship, though, especially after admitting to them that he was still a virgin. Besides that, a lot of the men he talked to didn’t want to get arrested for “sex with a minor”. Alex personally didn’t care for that law. In fact, it wouldn’t be the first time he did something illegal.
Eventually, he found himself in what was considered ‘the bad part of town’ and looked around. He was getting strange looks here too, not that he minded. In fact, it was his unusual outfit that got a couple older men walking over to him. He looked up at them with his bright blue eyes as one of the men started speaking. “So, kid, how much do you charge?”
Alex’s mouth dropped slightly. Did he seriously look like a prostitute? Well, it would take care of the virgin issue, he thought to himself, but I really don’t wanna do that. “I’m not in that kind of business, dude, I just want a man that would actually love me,” he told the guy, crossing his arms over his chest.
The two men glanced at each other, then back at Alex again. “Are you sure?” asked the other. “You could make a quite a bit of dough with a body like that.”
The teen stuck his tongue out at them though. “I ain’t doing it. Go find someone else.”
The two men shrugged at him and stalked off, but a different guy came over to him then. “You know, you really do look like a hooker in that get-up,” he told Alex. “Especially around here.”
“Well, I’m not!” exclaimed the teen, getting upset.
“Heh, I heard.” The man smiled down at him with dark green eyes. “You just want someone to love, right?”
Alex looked at him more closely, noting that he looked rather cute in his own way. Maybe this guy was really interested in him after all? “Right… I’m Alex,” the boy said cheerfully, smiling up at the man.
“I’m… Andrew,” the man said after a moment. “Pleased to meet you.”
“You too,” said Alex, wondering why the guy hesitated with his name. Was it really so difficult?
The two of them talked for a few hours, and as it became evening, Alex’s heart began racing as Andrew gave him his first kiss. It was gentle at first, but then just as the teen was getting slightly bored with it, Andrew’s tongue slipped into his mouth, catching Alex completely off-guard. He closed his eyes as he began lightly sucking on Andrew’s tongue, enjoying the kiss, but there was something missing from it. He wasn’t quite sure what that something was though, and when the older man pulled away to look down at him, Alex wondered if things were moving too fast. He never thought that he would become so hesitant after meeting someone willing to be with him, no matter the consequences. “Do you want to go to my place tonight?” Andrew asked him, a hand running through Alex’s soft blonde hair.
“Mm… Not tonight,” the boy told him, looking away. “I don’t think I’m ready for this yet, actually.”
“Heh, alright,” the man told him, kissing his cheek. “You know where to find me when you’re ready then.”
“Yeah, um… goodbye.” Alex quickly ran off, back home. He was so close… so close! Then he chickened out at the last minute. He frowned at his nervousness, making it back to his family’s house within a few minutes. It would have been quite easy to keep it a secret from his parents, just call them and say that he was staying with a new friend.
Sighing, Alex went to his room, sitting on his bed, his multi-colored bubble blanket staring up at him. His entire room looked like a rainbow had exploded in there, and he had a large jar full of random candy treats sitting by his bed. In his closet he had hidden more candy, and there were more chocolate bars sitting in a drawer in his dresser. He had enough sweets to open up his own small candy shop!
Right now wasn’t the time to think about that though. He took a candy cane out of his jar and unwrapped the top half, sucking on it lightly as he tried to think. Did he want to have sex with Andrew? He thought he did, but that kiss didn’t make it sound all that believable anymore. It was so lacking in effect. He thought that first kisses were supposed to be amazingly special events, but… it wasn’t really all that great.
Maybe he should try hooking up with boys his own age? Then they would both be in foreign territory, though. Maybe he could just stay with Andrew until he learned a few tricks… but that would require sleeping with the man in the first place, and he still wasn’t certain if he really wanted to or not. Crunching on his candy cane a little, he tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he just gave up on thinking about it for now, going to his bright pink laptop and turning it on, deciding to watch more of his “Only the Heart Knows Why” DVD before sleeping, his fingers running over the black heart with those same words written on it.
