Clashes of Lives
Clashes of Lives
Rain had been falling heavily across the great lands for several days now, stamping down the burning humidity and sweat smells while bringing a fresh clean smell of autumn leaves and the last of the spring flowers. For demons it cleansed the air and hid scents making it dangerous for weaker demons and young of all of them, for humans it brought just a clean scent to an otherwise smell ridden world. With the soft padding of rain hitting the roof came the scraping of furniture against a hardwood floor, “Gabrielle what in Light’s name are you doing up there!” The threatening voice of a stern older woman’s floated from down the hall and below a level, yet it still easily reached her ears. Rolling her eyes the girl; Gabrielle, stuck her sunflower colored head which at the moment had cob webs clinging onto it’s strands and stared down the hall her pumpkin colored eyes were filled with an annoyance on being bothered. “I’m cleaning and rearranging my work room, Mother! Your stupid freaking cat messed up and broke some of my containers in MY room!” Stomping her foot near the said animal brought out a squeal and a hiss as it ran down the hall smelling like rosemary herbs. Slamming the door closed the scraping noise continued as Gabrielle had her back to a thick wooded work table and was pushing with her legs to move it to the other side of the room, her eyes flashed with the pain of the wood digging into her spine trying to go through her other than move. She knew she was pushing her mother to react against her, but with all the demons coming closer and closer to the village no one dared stand against her, as of yet anyway.
Growling lowly Gabrielle narrowed her pumpkin colored eyes at the heavy work table, “Move”. Her voice laced with the underlying tongue of the movement spell she had worked so hard on not needing to chant its holy words to make objects she desired to move, begins to move to where she wanted them. Her eyes flared as golden lightening sprung alive within their depths triggering the workings of said spell. The table lifted the slightest off the floor and glided perfectly to the back corner turning it in a way that when she was working her back was to the corner and facing the door without being in the line of fire when anyone came into the room, having set it down more of the spells triggered one after another as Gabrielle stood in the center of the room untouched. Shelves containing herbs, powders and other items rearranged themselves for better reach, book shelves changed places to get better access of light as did the plush sofa that went with them, smaller lighter weighted tables aligned themselves along the short sided wall and lastly a rather large desk almost the same way the work table did but on the opposite side of the room diagonally potted indoor plants lined the sides of it almost as if to hide it. The golden lightening came to rest as did the mass amount of movement spells that had been triggered one after another, what had been taking Gabrielle three hours to rearrange took the spell at most five minutes while the cleaning she did by hand, that alone had took two hours and yet it was better to do some work physically or that physical strength would diminish and in a fight…well now who would want a weak bodied Holy Hourglass Priestess let alone a weak naturally born one. No, she had too much to protect and give to the world then just allow her body to give way as she used the powers gifted to her by the unknown.
An annoying click brought Gabrielle out of her admiration of her newly designed work room looking at the clock and frowning she turned toward the door, the clock not being loud enough to make such a noise grated against her nerve at the possibility of an intruder invading her private space. Shaking her head Gabrielle caught sight of her face in a mirror along the wall that was used to see on the other side of cooking glasses so you wouldn’t have to turn them, completely horrified with what she saw reflecting back at her she immediately began to pick out dust balls and spider webs from the tattered locks of sunflower blonde. Not being able to get it all Gabrielle whispered softly, “Vanity” the golden lightening spurred forward fixing the messy locks and applied make up in the right places, covering blemishes and dulling the black smudges under her eyes, it had even gone so far as to fixing the tattered work clothes into a pair of tight black with red pin stripped pants and a red blouse followed by the plain black work robe she always wore when in that room. Her black fluffy socked feet peaked out from under the wide bottomed pants as she made her way to the door, the clicking noise was louder then ever and she could swear she heard her brother’s voice purring flirtatiously at someone. “Stupid prick, stupid cock controlled asshole.” Just his tone was enough to snag the line in her temper so she yanked open the door as her brother’s shocked face came inches away from her own tight lipped and hot rage flash eyes, “Eirian.” Her own purr was heavy with her temper as she took a step forward pushing him back and forcing whomever was behind him to also take a step back or else meet the floor.
His brow shot up glancing her over once and adjusted his own temper, “Gabrielle.” Shifting to the side he held out a hand and Gabrielle took notice of the woman who had been talking with her brother. “This is Lady Kadrelyn, Lady Kadrelyn this is the Natural Sister of the Holy Hourglass; Gabrielle. I’ll take my leave so you may talk.” He kissed her hand before he turned heading back down the hallway to the flight of stairs, Gabrielle felt his head swelled too high any time a female gave him too much attention, being only sixteen in age himself, for Eirian, it left more of a want for some bed room bliss then any kind of friendship. Gabrielle eyed the girl over, the shape of the girl’s hips told her she was reaching of age but her chest said preteen at most, slight clash there. The garments she wore was respectfully that of a wealthy family as she had on three layers, the inner clothing being an undershirt and underwear was white then adorn on top was a yellow shirt and skirt outfit then lastly baby blue ties, sashes and buttons the blue shoes as Gabrielle eyed were heels which explained the clicking. What caught her attention was a gold chain around her neck with a golden hourglass pendant etched to look like the horns of a buck yet there were no grains inside it which only meant one thing. Blinking the thought away Gabrielle opened her work room door and offered Kadrelyn inside, as the girl past Gabrielle sniffed her curly oak colored hair and got a look at the startling bright green eyes the smell was of fresh rain and vanilla beans a nice clean smell no dark underlying smells on her.
“Have a seat by my desk and we’ll talk.” Flashing a gentle yet easing smile Gabrielle focuses inward using her powers to probe the house and nearby for any other intruders, after a few moments and finding nothing the older girl sat down hands folded and looked intently at the smaller girl. “I want you to teach me the ways of the Hourglass.” The girl sputtered out slamming her hands on the desk, a look of pure determination was burning hard in those green eyes but Gabrielle could still pick out the fears of rejection and nervousness. A bit startled Gabrielle cleared her throat and just started at Kadrelyn, wondering if the girl understood what she just gave up to her and vise versus if Gabrielle accepted. “Kadrelyn, do you know…Do you understand the entire situations, the entire life involvement in which you just asked of me to play a part in?” Kadrelyn nodded fiercely sitting back down and started digging her nails into the other hand the nervousness and fear bubbling under up faster then the steady ground could hold her up, good thing she was sitting. “Please Lady Gabrielle…call me Kade. I need to learn the holy hourglass’s ways, before something happens to myself or my family because of me…I don’t understand the changes going on and you’re the strongest one around that could teach me while not turning your back on your own people.” Gabrielle narrowed her pumpkin eyes on the wealthy girl, she didn’t talk like she was wealthy, but this would be a great way to further her own training sighing she begun wishing she moved out as soon as she turned seventeen…that being two years ago little late to have regrets. “Accepted.” Gabrielle hissed as her eyes flashed with the golden lightening an unseen power began to wash over Kadrelyn who stood up shocked and grinning ear to ear, she didn’t see the way Gabrielle’s own crest now hung next to her empty Hourglass pendant. Inwardly sighing Gabrielle groaned at the years to come as this girl would hinder on her life and feed on her protection for years to come it was like having a child without the birthing or rising of it, she didn’t like it, not one bit.
