Chapter 2

Legend sighed and rested her head on her hand as she fought the urge to fall asleep in her Beastly History class. She couldn’t seem to pay attention to anything until the professor introduced the day’s lesson. They would be studying the fae. While the rest of her classmates groaned, Legend sat up straight, ready and willing to learn. She couldn’t help the excitement that she felt, because she honestly never thought fairies really existed. She just assumed that they were a product of someone’s overly active imagination. Although it should have been easier to believe since 80 years ago magic was nothing but a fairy tale.

Taking notes as she usually did with her notebook and pen, she never got quite used to the fact that not everyone had to do it that way. She stared longingly at the other student’s TPC’s (telepathically prompted computers). Since she didn’t have the amount of power needed to control a TPC she had to use her hands. She wished she could somehow get her hands on an old millennium laptop that she could control with her hands, but they had stopped being made when magic returned.

At exactly 6:30 class was dismissed and Legend quickly gathered her things and rushed out of the building. She had to hurry if she wanted to be inside before it got dark. She hated walking around campus alone at night. It wasn’t all because of the fact that it was dark, but that’s when the seekers were allowed to hunt. She’d accidentally crossed paths with one her first night on campus and she almost didn’t escape. Since she had no active powers to protect herself, she was an easy target. It seemed that they were somehow drawn to her. Since they lived off of siphoning some of your soul she supposed hers was pretty strong.

Almost running to her apartment she quickly pulled out her keys and made her way inside. Legend’s apartment was nothing more than one room with a small kitchen space on the right wall and a bathroom area toward the back. Since she didn’t have enough room for a bed she slept on an old fold out couch that she’d bought from Ced. He’d offered to give it to her but being the stubborn person that she is she saved her extra money for a month to pay him back.

"Harry!" She called throwing down her bag and coat, "Harry? What trouble have you gotten yourself into?" She chuckled looking down at her black kitten tangled up in what looked like her most expensive yarn. When he looked up at her and let out the most pitiful whimper she\'d ever heard, legend could do nothing but reach down and pick him up.

That pitiful whimper was the same thing that made Legend pick him up when she found him sitting in a puddle outside her old house. One of his legs was swollen and infected and he was so skinny she could see all his ribs. Shed taken pity on him and took him home with her.

His huge green eyes and unruly black fur had immediately reminded her of her favorite fairy tale, so it seemed only right that she named him after the boy who lived. After putting away the yarn and placing a saucer of cream out for harry, Legend all but collapsed on the couch after watering her plants.

Cold. She couldn’t feel it but she just somehow knew. The darkness around her seemed to encompass everything, making it almost impossible for her to see anything around her. In almost no time at all her eyes seemed to adjust and she was startled to see the man sitting directly in front of her. At her gasp he turned toward her and she found herself staring directly into the most piercing eyes she’d ever encountered. However as soon as he looked toward her, he looked away, as if he hadn’t seen anything.

“Angel” she heard a soft voice purr in the darkness, right before one of the most beautiful women she had ever seen crawled toward the man, Angel.

"What" his voice was smooth, but raspy at the same time. A velvet tinged blade.

The woman slunk closer to him, gently planing a hand beautifully slender hand on his shoulder. She watched him carefully, as if he was a snake ready to strike. When he did nothing but continue to stare out the dark window she pressed her body even closer to him. Wrapping one arm behind his neck and the other reaching up toward the left side of his face she placed a kiss on the hollow behind his ear. Instantly he stood and disengaged her from his body.

“Nnena”

She sighed, then stood bracing her shoulders. “Angel.” She said, wrapping the silk sheet around her body. “When are you going to let me act as is expected of me?”

He ignored her, walking toward his bathroom. He was honestly tired of her already. He didn\'t know how he would be able to put up with her for the rest of his life. The whining, the nagging, the fucking attitude.

“Angel!”

Before she could even get the rest of the word out he was standing right in her face, staring into her eyes. His dominance screaming in the air around her. She could do no other but drop her eyes and lower her head. Hell the whole house probably felt the rush of his alpha.

“Yell my mother-fucking name one more time Nnena. One more fucking time and I will embarrass your ass. You know everyone can hear your ass whining and shit show some fucking backbone! Take your ass home.” The viscous words slipped from his tongue, but his voice didn\'t rise above a whisper. He didn\'t have to. She could hear him perfectly and he knew it.

Nnena quickly dropped to her knees and he sighed when she rubbed her face on his thigh. Although she was showing the proper remorse and respect that was required, ti did nothing but irritate Angel further. “Now” he sighed walking back over to his bed. He didn\'t sit until he heard the door shut, and he didn\'t lay down until he heard her soft footfalls on the stairs. He could still smell her melancholy even though she was well on her way out of the house. He knew he\'d have to make it up to her tomorrow.

It wasn\'t her fault that she wasn\'t the one. It wasn\'t her fault that no matter what he did he couldn\'t love her, couldn\'t even kiss her. It wasn\'t her fault that his heart was looking for someone he\'d probably never meet a day in his life.

“Your watching me again aren\'t you?I hope you fucking enjoyed it. ”

Legend jerked awake, gasping. Harry made his displeasure by digging his claws into her thigh, not hard just enough to show her that he was not pleased. “Sorry” she mumbled and he moved over to her extra pillow and lay back down.

Her fingers were white and cold from being balled up for so long. Her limbs were cold and stiff as they always were when she woke up from one of those dreams. Shed been dreaming of angel for as long as she could remember. But he\'d never talked to her before. He\'d never been aware of her presence.

She sighed again and pilled the blankets closer to her and tried to get back to sleep she had a long day ahead of her and being tired would do nothing but get her into trouble.
