Domestication

AN: Hoo boy! This has been up on y!Gallery (yaoi gallery) in my gallery for MONTHS. Lol, I keep forgetting upload here. Though, I HATE uploading here because I can't reply to comments. (Even if you leave your email, I won't reply cause that's my PERSONAL email). So, here you go, a drabble, VERY late. I have another drabble too of Spirit and Ty that'll be up tomorrow I think, WITH HARDCORE SEX.

Spirit's ears flickered as he watched the sun go down. The sticky air of the unusually warm August day was rapidly fading to a crispness that promised a quick and chilly Fall. The thin blanket on his knees felt damp, and Spirit shivered. He'd have to go inside soon and put on some of those 'clothing' Ty had given to him. He didn't mind, they were comfortable enough, but the more Spirit wore them, the more he...liked them. And for a simple Kitsune who used to love running natural through the trees as the moonlight reflected off his shining skin, the realization was a little shocking.

Every day Spirit found himself becoming increasingly domesticated, like those little house pets he used to spy on in the houses near the edge of town. Not that Ty treated him like a pet in any way, no, far from it, but Spirit was losing his wild urges. Instead of rolling in the mud to keep the flies off on a hot day, Spirit would ask Ty to give him a few spritzes of 'Bug Off', which had a thick, cloying, sweet scent that made his sensitive nose tickle. Or when Ty made their meals, Spirit was less inclined to eat the meat raw, and beginning to love how it tasted after being cooked.

A flock of blackbirds flew across the sky, back lit by orange and pink as the sun dipped into the tree line. Crickets began to chirp by the side of the porch, and Spirit tilted his head towards their song, listening to the subtle sounds of a forest going to sleep.

Ty was already in bed. He'd passed out right after...

Spirit's cheeks grew hot, and he ducked his head. Tonight Ty had been extra amorous, and Spirit was still tingling in places he didn't know could feel so good. Everywhere the brunette's calloused fingers brushed his skin, Spirit would erupt into a tight coil of pleasure so intense, his vision was often flecked by white.

Beneath the blanket covering his lap, his abdomen were still moist with sweat and seed, and his thighs were cramped, having been stretched so much earlier. He'd wiped himself clean though, between his legs, so he wouldn't leave a mark on the wood planks where he now sat.

In a few weeks, Ty's sister was starting college in a nearby town, and the brunette had asked Spirit if he'd like to come. He'd assured Spirit that they could hide his tail and his ears, so people wouldn't bother him, and that they could stay in a hotel, which sounded very exciting.

But sometimes, Spirit missed the forest. He missed being wild and not wanting to leave his home. He missed his nest, and how he used to prefer it to rest, though now he adored Ty's bed more. He missed never even considering leaving his home wood, and not once thinking about the world outside it.

"Spirit?" Murmured a soft, sleep-filled call from inside the house.

Spirit's ears twisted first, then his head followed, glancing behind him to the dark doorway and the open front door. "Ty? You not sleeping?"

His mate gave him a grin. "I missed you. Your side of the bed is all cold and my arms were lonely." With a yawn, Ty pushed open the screen door and shuffled out into the approaching night, coming to Spirit's side and plopping down beside him. “What are you doing out here? Couldn't sleep?”

Spirit grinned, bittersweet and nostalgic. “No. No sleep. Want to smell the sunset.”

Ty chuckled. “Smell? You don't mean 'see'?”

Spirit shook his head, leaning to press into Ty's side. A warm arm came up automatically to drape over his shoulder, fingers softly rubbing. “No. Want smell. And hear.” He raised his hand up in front of his face and stretched out his fingers, sweeping them around to indicate the trees in front of them. “Spirit smell wetness in air, and musk of night animal mark his territory. The sun heat going away, make the air cool. All smells of sunset.”

Ty could be heard deeply sniffing beside him, and Spirit grinned, closing his eyes.

“Hear trees creaking. Hear crickets. Hear quiet too.”

The brunette sighed, turning down to kiss the tip of Spirit's ear, and he giggled, tilting it away. “Spirit, you've got better hearing than me. And a better nose. I can hear the crickets, but that's about it, and the only thing I can smell is the sweet scent of your body.”

His cheeks getting hot again, Spirit blushed, shivering for a different reason this time. “Ty...”

“You wanna come back to bed?” Ty murmured, his voice soft and full of sweet promises.

Nodding was easy, and he did it quickly. “Need one more minute here. Be in soon.”

Ty kissed his ear again, nuzzling a nose into his soft black hair, then he was standing and yawning again, walking back inside.

Yes, Spirit missed being wild. But...the sacrifice was small for the reward it returned. Instead of a nest, Spirit had a home. Instead of independence, Spirit had a lover and mate who he not only depended on, but who depended on him too. And if he wanted to, Spirit could always go out for a day on his own and still roll in the mud. But afterwards, he'd come back to his and Ty's cabin and take a bath. Maybe even share it with his mate.

Standing, Spirit folded the blanket and held it tight, giving the sky one last look. It was purplish now, the redness only down near the horizon. A smile stretched his lips, and Spirit turned towards the door and walked inside.

Domestication wasn't so bad.
