Chapter 2
Castles of the Fae
By: Rena
The smell of blood was just so thick in the air you could choke on it. “Miss?” Cold dampness seemed to seep into the bones of any one or thing that was out in the mess of the storm. “Miss?” Emerald eyes shot open as the soul scaring scene diminished in her mind once again, the murder of her pixie lover only took place 3 whole moon nights ago, but the smell of his blood hasn’t left her nostrils yet. The destruction and humiliation of being caught and the fear of being killed ranged so high in those few moments, she should have been dead along with him, that stupid fool. Now were NOT the time for remorse and regret that will have to wait another day and another time. “My name is Lady Ny-yan, nurse, I expect you to remember that. It’s not like you talk to many other’s here.” Keeping her eyes as cold as the stones they resembled she stared down the old nurse refusing to let anyone see the chaos that roamed her free mind. It seemed to have worked for the old fae’s dragonfly like wings flexed out of fear, ah the oddness of faeries having dragonfly like wings and pixies having butterfly like wings and we both don’t receive our wings until we lose our childhood innocence and walk among the adults as one. Silly thoughts may roam one’s forsaken mind as a tease on heir sanity while doing it too much and it shall get one into trouble if you’re not careful of your own surroundings.
Pulling herself out of bed Ny-yan patted down her undergarments and raised her hands so the nurse could slip her dress over her head and careful around the sore new wings she could have done it herself but hell the old one’s getting paid for it so why not use it. “Lady Ny-yan…the fae court has summoned you to stand before them and the captured ones of the pixies.” The nurse tied the bow above her butt nice and tightly, it was a simple green spaghetti crisscross strapped evening gown that flowed to the floor after passing her hips, it was the same color as her eyes, with a low v neck line and a silver ribbon that went through her hair like a headband and a wider silver ribbon that went around her waist into the big bow. She had all her nails then painted to the color of the violets that littered her room, while picking out a silver necklace with a simple star shaped amethyst pendant to place around her thin neck. Not eating had turned her skin into an unhealthy translucent tone so it didn’t help when she placed on silver anklets with tiny amethyst bells all around them making them seem like glass now. Stopping at the mirror to brush her long blonde hair with violet highlights up into a simple high ponytail making the silver head band stick out even more she sat down on the bench and began slipping her feet into simple shimmered silver ballet like shoes her transformation into adulthood really changed her and because of the purple highlights that just seemed to show up she got more attention then she ever wanted.
After all was complete and she passed inspection, Ny-yan was allowed with the nurse to be escorted to the center of the mansion they were currently staying in, they passed many males eyeing her up and down and mumbling insane things, some rude, others too close to the truth for comfort. They all had their wings which made Ny-yan wonder how they got them…was it by force? Love? Hormones? The power that came with being an adult was rich…but you lose a few things after gaining that power. Frowning deeply she kept her head down fighting her soul and heart against standing in front of all them and claiming her love of the now dead pixie. Why it was such a big deal, who knows…not everyone thought the same way indeed a few of them could be good inside, decent at least. The nurse sensing her charge’s distress patted her back gently causing her wings to shimmer in jumpiness. “Please behave Lady Ny-yan, many fae of importance are here today.” This in turn caused Ny-yan to snap her head to face down at the old fae. “BEHAVE?! What is I some human pet to be told commands and expect to obey? Shall not be commanded and ruled like a human pet I will make them see my way if I have to.” Her feminine walk turned into a rage filled storm as she stride down the remaining halls and pushed open the great doors with the ease of swatting a fly.
“Ah my there she is now, Ny-yan!” Swallowing a growl Ny-yan stared at the high council before calming stating, “Lady Ny-yan you mean, I am no simple commoner among you.” Chuckling the fae males looked at one another before giving her a disapproving look. “Well everyone have a seat so we may talk.” Turning she came to realize half the kingdom had come to see reckoning upon her. How dare they swam through her mind and the anger filled her till the innocence she had been able to keep clean tainted and the silver in her wings died to an ebony gray. Each and every person sneered and glared, the whispers echoed softly of the well designed room, it seemed the craftsmanship was made for echoing to drive you insane. Indeed it was working well today, unbeknownst her wings had changed Ny-yan stared at the Highest of them all waiting for him to start. “Well out with it what do you want to say?” Shaking with anger she forced herself to sit down and let her nails dig into the wood table in front of her.
