Chapter 2

‘Neo,stop sleeping when we’re eating and Ry ,take your feet off the table.’Ina sighed and looked at her sisters shaking her head disapprovingly.She turned to the maid and with a smile she nodded to give her the tea.
Neo lifted her head from the table and glared at her sister then threw a fork towards her,missing by far and ignored the glare she was receiving.
‘Shut up!I didn’t sleep last night at all!’whined Neo jamming the earphones in her ears before letting her head fall again on the table.
‘Hmph,I told you to go to sleep!’said Ina patronizing.’Really,what was so important that you stayed all night at the computer?You knew we had school today.’added her.’And don’t throw forks at people!’
Neo sighed but didn’t said anything.Ina lifted her cup of tea,sipped slowly and then turned to look at Ry who was putting sugar cubes in the tea with a slightly insane smile.
‘Ry,how many times should I tell you?There aren’t such things as Sugar Demons living in sugar cubes that are trying to take over the world.’
‘But…’started Ry before she was interrupted by Ina.
‘No,they don’t exist.So,you’re not killing anyone.Except yourself if you’re going to drink that tea.’ Ina looked at Ry’s tea with a disgusted face,the cup being full of sugar cubes.’Why don’t you eat the scrambled eggs instead?’
Ry pouted,mumbling to herself.She eyed Neo who was apparently asleep, grabbed one lock of hair and dipped it in the cup of tea several times before bringing it to her lips to taste it.
‘Mmmmm…tastes good!’Ry smiled and let go of Neo’s hair when her sister lifted from the table looking annoyed and glaring towards her.’What?’asked Ry with an innocent look.
Neo lifted with one hand the wisp of hair and her eyes got round before turning to Ina who was trying not to laugh.
‘Did you…just dipped my hair in tea??’said Neo towards Ry.
‘Well,yeah.Now your hair smells nice not like before.And it’s sweet too.’
‘What do you mean”not like before”??My hair smelled VERY nice,idiot!’snapped Neo.
‘No it didn’t.’said Ry giggling in her hands.
‘Ooooo,you think it’s funny,huh?’asked Neo.She turned around when Ina started coughing in her hands,clearly trying to hide her laugh.Neo narrowed her eyes and took the plate full of scrambled egs from Ry.’Can I have this Ry?’asked Neo smiling innocently.
‘No,I was going to eat th…’Ry didn’t had time to finish the sentence when the scrambled eggs were splattered all over Ina’s face and clothes.
Ina looked with a shocked face at her shirt and then at Neo.Blushing,Ina looked around before her eyes landed on a glass of orange juice and then smirking slowly she turned her eyes to her sister.Before she knew it, Neo was covered in juice looking like a soaked cat.
‘Food fight!!’Ry screamed and started to throw sugar cubes at her sisters laughing and chanting ‘food-fight-food-fight’ all over.
‘Shut up!’yelled at the same time Neo and Ina,both throwing their tea at Ry.
‘Oh,this is actually warm.’replied Ry making her sisters moan annoyed.
‘Can’t she get annoyed just ONCE.’said Neo wiping the juice from her face with a napkin.
‘Oh,my….food fight again??’The maid turned to the girls scowling and then looked at the mess from the table.’You know,I have to clean every time you do this.When you were small it was maybe a little fun to see all of you covered in food,but now you’re grown ups!’said the maid scolding them like little children.
The girls had at least the decency to look ashamed before muttering ‘sorry’ in a small voice.
‘She started it!’muttered Ry pouting and eyed Neo with a disgruntled face.
‘ME??You dipped my hair in tea!I think that means that YOU started the fight!’defended herself Neo.
Ry made a silly face at Neo,grinning when her sister wiggled her fist back and fort, muttering curses at her.
‘That’s enough you two!’said the maid looking at them with a stern glare.’Some day I’ll make you three clean the mess you make.’muttered the maid and started to wipe the table with a small towel.
‘Sorry,miss Clara.’said Ry trying her best “puppy eyes”,but the maid huffed and turned to her cleaning.
A loud gasp was suddenly heard in the silent room and Ina turned around only to face a man and a woman who were looking horrified at the mess.
The man,Paul Carson,was a man in his forty’s,with a thin and tall body,dressed in a business suit.In his right stood his wife,Marcy Carson.A pink dress was covering her fat body and the bleached hair was pinned in a bun.Here eyes were wide while she assessed the wet and dirty girls.
‘What in the name of God happened here?’shrieked Marcy .’Oh,my dining-room!’The woman squealed when Ina kicked the table with her hand,looking at her with a furious face.
‘ “YOUR dinning room”??’asked sarcastically Ina.She raised an eyebrow,her lips twisting in a disgusted mime.
‘Yeah,if I remember correctly this is OUR dinning room.’Neo folded her arms annoyed.
‘Don’t be impertinent,girl!’said Paul,putting his arm around Marcy.’We raised you and took care of you when your parents died.If it weren’t for us you would have been put in foster homes!’He narrowed his eyes at the girls before turning at Clara.’You!Start cleaning this mess already!’
‘Miss Clara,could you please leave us alone for a moment?Thank you.’Clara eyed Ina with caution before turning around and leaving the room.The girl and the man eyed themselves for a moment before Ina started to speak.
‘You were living in a small and filthy apartment and were buried in debts before you met our parents.God knows what they saw in you two when they decided to grant you our tutelary.’Ina inhaled trying to calm herself before speaking again in a calm voice.’So MAYBE,just maybe,you should just shut the fuck up and know your place.’
‘This is enough!Like it or not,we are your guardians until you turn 21 years old!And you will respect us!’shouted Paul,turning a deep red shade.
‘Yeah,like that will EVER happen!’snapped Neo.’Whatever.I’m going to change and DAMN we missed the bus!’said Neo looking at the wall clock.She turned around and left the dinning room,ignoring Marcy when she muttered “stupid girl”.
‘Two more years…’said Ina smirking.
‘A lot can happen in two years.’said Paul narrowing his eyes at Ina.
Ina smirked and went towards her room ,dragging Ry with her.She stopped in front of the door,turned around and raised her head high.
‘I’m not 13 years old anymore,Paul.’said Ina,spitting the man’s name before turning around and walk away with her shoulders stiff.
‘Are you okay,Ina?’asked quietly Ry.
‘I’m okay.’said Ina and she smiled to her sister.
Ry took her hand and Ina squeezed slightly.

Ry eyed the limousine with a suspicious face and then turned to her sisters with a irritated face.
‘I don’t want to go to school with the limousine!’Whined Ry and crossed her arms stubborn.
‘We wouldn’t,but we missed the bus already.’grumbled Neo,throwing dirty looks at Ry.
‘Are you still mad at me?For the hair thing?’asked Ry.She looked innocently at her sister and then,without warning,she jumped on Neo,squeezing the life out of her.
‘Inaa…can’t…breath…’Neo struggled to peel Ry off of her,looking at Ina for help.
Ina rolled her eyes and got in the car,leaving the door open for her sisters.Neo,finally free from Ry hopped quickly in the car and tried to shut the door before her sister got in.
‘Heeeeey,what about me??’asked Ry pouting slightly.
‘Didn’t you said you don’t want to go to school with the limousine?’asked Neo smiling evilly.’You can walk 'till school for all I care.’
‘But,but….Inaaaaa,she’s mean to meeeee!’ started Ry to complain like a little child.
‘Quit acting like such babies.’said Ina without paying attention to them.’Where did I put that book…’mumbled Ina to herself.’Ah,here it is.’She took a small book from her backpack and started to read.
‘Come on!We’ll be late for school.’said Neo letting Ry get in the car.’By the way...why am I sitting in the middle?’said her to no one in particular.
‘So,does anyone want a lollipop?’asked cheerfully Ry,already opening a red one. She looked at her sisters and sighed,seeing that she was ignored.’Oh,well if you don’t want to I’ll eat them all by myself.’
‘Yeah,yeah whatever.’mumbled Neo.She turned up the volume on her Ipod and slouched on the bench, zooming out.
Ry pouted and sighed and leaned against the pane,soon closing her eyes and drifting to sleep…

“The room is so white…I didn’t like it at first but now I actually feel soothed in here.It’s better in here then outside with them.I stopped trying to tell them what happened that day.What HE was about to do if my sisters wouldn’t had stopped HIM.I finally understood that they won’t believe me.
I’m not allowed to talk with anyone because HE ordered them not to.But who needs them?I have my friends…they say “my imaginary friends”.Ha!My friends are more real than anything else in here.I don’t care what they say.
Hmmmm...I wonder if I should draw a red butterfly on the wall...It would look so pretty here….
My door is opening!I try to hide,but it’s useless.I know it is,but I do it anyway.A habit of mine.But I soon remember that Mr.”Needle” doesn’t come to visit me anymore.I relax.It’s just Mr.”You’ll be fine”.I don’t know why he always says that to me”You’ll be fine”.I’ll never be fine.Doesn’t he know that?Because I do.
Oh,he just wants me to go visit Mr.”Answers”.I don’t remember their real names.I never do….don’t know why.But I remember Mr.”Answers” told me he is a therapist.He always asks me questions and then looks expectantly at me,waiting for an answer.So I answer him.At first I told him the truth,but like everyone else he didn’t believe me.Oh,well,now I tell him what I think he wants to hear.And it’s working,because Mr.”Needle” isn’t coming in my room anymore.Good.I didn’t like him.He always makes me sleep...
‘Wake up!’
Huh?But I’m not sleeping...

‘Wake up already!’shouted Neo ,shaking Ry again.
Ry opened her glazed eyes with sleep and looked confused around her.
‘Whaaat?No Mr.”Needle”...?’Ry murmured as she braced herself.
‘Ry,we’re already at school...’said Ina quietly.
‘Did you had a dream?’asked Neo frowning.
‘Yup...but I don’t remember though...’Ry frowned as she tried to remember the dream and in the process she missed the worried look her sisters were exchanging.’Oh,well let’s go then.’Ry hopped from the car,heading towards the school.
‘We should keep an eye on her today.’murmured Ina to Neo.
‘Yeah,I know.’replied Neo.
‘Are you coming or not?’yelled Ry from ahead.
Neo and Ina hurried after their sister and entered in the school.
‘Our first class is history...again.’said Ina looking at her schedule.
‘Ugh!I have to put up with that idiot I have behind me in class.Just great.’said Neo exasperated.
‘Yeah,but when you’re bored you can speak with someone.I don’t have anyone behind me.’said Ry upset.’What about you Ina?That guy was really cute,you know?’
‘What guy?’asked bored Ina.
‘That hot guy that was sitting behind you??’said Neo,rolling her eyes.
‘Well,your colleague it’s cute,too.’said Ry to Neo.
‘Hmph...if you like fairy boys,then yes,I guess he was cute.’said sarcastically Neo.
‘Aren’t you a little mean towards him?’Ry shook her head disapprovingly.’I’m sure he just...like to take care of his image.That’s all.’
‘Yeeeeeah...whatever.He was annoying,always trying to make me to speak to him.I couldn’t even concentrate on whatever the teacher was saying.’Neo made a irritated face and glared at a girl who bumped into her.’Well,soooorryyyy!’she yelled towards the girl ,who ignored her walking by as nothing happened.
The girls stopped at Ry’s locker and waited while she was taking a book out and stuffed it in her bag.
‘Hey,!Look what we have here!’said a voice and the three girls turned around only to see the football player they encountered on their first day at school.
‘Oh,great.Did I say how much I love this day?NOT.’said annoyed Neo while she eyed the boy who stopped right in front of her.
‘Hey,you!’snapped him towards Ry.’You owe me an apology!’
‘Eh?Why?’asked Ry bewildered.’Do I know you?’Ry looked him down and then up,but she just shruged her shoulders,clearly not remembering him at all.
‘Are you playing dumb with me?’said the boy annoyed.
‘Oh,noooo.We wouldn’t dare!’Neo gasped shocked at the boy.’We could never beat you at that.’she added seriously.
‘Very funny!Now,apologize!’said the boy clearly pissed off.
‘Look…Chumpcake!I don’t have time n’or the patience to stay here and talk to you.’said irritated Ina.’Could you go and infest someone else with your stupidity?’Ina tried to leave,but the boy stopped her,blocking her way.
‘My name is Rick,you idiot!And better remember that ‘cause I’m going to make your live a living hell from today on!And I’m not stupid!’Rick clenched his fists and glared at Ina,forgetting entirely about Ry.
‘Okay,Ricky dear...not that I was interested in your name or something...but could you,like...step aside already?’said Ina,waving her hands to let them pass.
‘My name is Rick!Not Ricky!’ snapped him at Ina.
‘Did he said Richie Rich?’asked Ry disinterested,too busy trying to unwrap another lollipop.
‘No,Ry.He said Dick.’Neo snickered when the boy practically growled at her.
‘It’s RICK,you retard!’shouted the boy,turning a deep shade of red.
‘Yeah,yeah,that’s what she said!’snapped Ina,cutting him off.’Well,Crick,it was nice chatting with you,but we really have to go now!’Ina shoved him off and left,with her sisters trailing behind her,before he could say something else.But,as they quickly stepped in their class,the girls heard the boy shouting behind them “It’s Rick,damn it!!!”.
Neo crushed on her seat and put her bag on the desk,reaching for her history book.
‘What an idiot!He doesn’t know when to quit.’mumbled Neo.She opened her notebook and started to scribble on it furiously,but a few seconds later Neo closed it with force and tossed it on top of the history book.’I’m bored!’Neo whined.
‘Well,do something.’said Ina too busy to look at Neo as she was reading the small book she had on her hands.
‘Yeah,yeah.’Neo growled when the boy in front of her turned around to say something. ’What?!’Neo snapped at him.’Do I have something on my face?’
‘No,I just wanted to ask if…’started the boy.
‘NO!’said Neo.
‘But,you don’t even know what I wanted to ask!’said the boy annoyed.
‘Well,then.My answer is “no” to whatever you are going to ask now or ever!’Neo said,watching the guy as he turned around offended.
Ina put her book aside and looked at Neo as she was flipping through her Ipod and then at Ry who was munching happily at her lollipop.’God I hope this day won’t get worse…’said her and leaned on the chair.Ina hit Neo’s chair to get her attention and then motion towards the door as she saw two boys who were coming their way.
‘Oh,great!The fairy boy.Woophy!’said sarcastically Neo as she stared at the guy she spoke of earlier.’Hey,isn’t the other guy the one who is sitting behind you?’asked her,looking at Ina.
‘Mmmmhhmm.’Ina nodded and then turned towards her book again,ignoring the gaze of the said guy.
Neo scowled and turned the Ipod’s volume to maxim when the other boy tried to talk to her.He frowned and took a seat behind Neo.He eyed her with a pensive look toying with his pencil.
