Chapter 1
‘Sleep! Need more sleep!’ That’s the only thing going through Shane’s mind as the alarm starts beeping. She slams her hand down on the clock and feels around for the off button. Then…she rolls over and burrows deeper into her covers, just like any other young person.
Sadly, the slight lapse back into the bliss of unconsciousness is cut prematurely due to her roommate’s inability to do anything silently. ‘Damn it!’ Shane curses silently as she slowly works her way down from the bunk. As she reaches the floor and steps into her slippers she begins her morning routine.
Monday is a horrible day of Richards. This particular Monday feels a bit abnormal. First off, Mondays regularly suck as they are quiz days in Modern Japan and Music Theory is even more of a pain because it’s sooo dull. But this Monday is different than the usual.
Shane hikes to the music building around 9:20 for her first class of the day. Class doesn’t start til 10:00, but Alexis is in the lower level course before Shane and they always get a bet of talking in before theory starts. She grabs her usual seat, which lucky for her is right behind Chris, the love of her life; So that part of her Monday’s is always good.
After class she meets Alexis and Patrick for lunch, which usually consists of Shane going on about Chris, Alexis love struck and trying to subtly flirt with Patrick, who seems the only sane one. After lunch, Shane goes back to her dorm intent on taking a short nap before Modern Japan. When she gets back to her dorm she finds that her dry erase board on the floor and erased of its previous message. This is where this Monday breaks routine.
Shane grabs the door knob to find that the door is unlocked. She doesn’t think too much of it, thinking her roommate’s class was canceled. She walks in, but Tae’s not there as she thought. She shrugs it off thinking Tae left without locking the door. She throws her bag down and walks toward her desk, when she’s gripped from behind.
