Chapter 2
Chapter 2....R&R welcome!
Akai felt Leo slide back up onto his back, the tension and pull on the leather informing him as to when the rider was resituated. Leo leaned forward, lying against the sensitive ridge that rested on the point where the base of his neck widened to form the shoulders and chest. A deep chuckle bubbled up and out of his throat, becoming louder and more powerful as the chuckles became full out roars of laughter.
“Leo, are you doing okay?” The blood hue beast spoke softly in the riders mind, worried about the brown haired Draconi.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me; I’m just happy that we beat them again.” Leo relied as his laughter died down to a smirk.
Leo looked over to the right, his smirk a friendly smile as he turned to face the dark form next to them. The dragon was blacker then anything else in the universe with golden eyes as it stared at Akai and Leo. Leo noticed that there were two riders on the dragon, one with long dark silver hair and the other with short red.
“What’s wrong Akogi?” Leo asked as he watched the red head, waiting for him to open his eyes and blinked rapidly as he realized that he was unconscious. “What happened to Chaiaiyoku? Is he dead!?”
The dark haired man upon the other dragon shook his head negatively. “No, he’s not but he is severely hurt, Adonis will need to heal him, besides, he’s from your squad…can you take him with you?”
Even though Akogi spoke smoothly in his deep baritone, Akai looked away from the black dragon and up at the dark haired rider. The man was trying his hardest not to fall apart on the battle field but was having problems with doing so. His lover was hurt and he was scared that he would loose him like so many others had already. Akai was about to try to open a link with the other rider when he caught onto the anger and depression from the black dragon. His attention flicked back to the beast next to him and his red eye locked onto the golden eye he could see.
“Chimeitsu, what’s going on?” Akai asked as calmly as he could manage.
“Just my rider worrying more about another rider then about his own dragon…he refuses to gain my power, he says it’s wrong.” Chimeitsu explained angrily.
Akai’s head tilted to the side in slight confusion at the shadow squad dragon’s comment. “That doesn’t make any sense…any at all. How is it wrong to mate with your dragon…you did tell him it would be in your human form…right?”
Golden eyes narrowed dangerously at the ruby colored beast in obvious annoyance and Akai nodded shrugging slightly. Leo reached out towards the shadow squad dragon.
“Akai, get closer, we need to get over them so I can grab Chaiaiyoku…he’s in bad condition.”
The ruby dragon beat slightly harder to raise them barely above the others allowing his rider to grab the unconscious redhead and haul him up. As soon as the unconscious man had been situated he beat harder, banking to the right slightly to get a faster turn as he headed back to the Blood squad compound. It took only minutes for them to get there with Akai forgetting his exhaustion and flying at top speed.
“Colonel! Colonel Adonis!” Leo screeched as they came into hearing distance of the compound.
The ashen haired man quickly dismounted his own beast and walked hurriedly towards Akai. His amber eyes narrowed brutally when he saw the second blood squad member on the dragon.
“What happened to him?” the sorcerer asked quickly as he reached up to take Chaiaiyoku.
“The bastard tried to kill him.” Leo explained as he allowed his comrade to slip down the side of his dragon to land in Adonis’ arms.
Adonis nodded once and turned, walking briskly through one of the many barriers leading into the compound towers. Once inside he looked about spotting a man with blue-silver eyes and long blue-black hair that’s up in a ponytail. The man’s eyes narrowed much like Adonis’ when he saw the unconscious man.
“Adonis…what…what the hell happened to him?” the dark haired man asked in a calm alto.
“Well you see, in the battle, Kira was killed and Chaiaiyoku was injured. Can you help me get him to a bed so I can work on healing him, Cain?” the Colonel's normally slightly flushed features matched his hair at the thought of loosing one of his riders as well as the dragon.
The dark haired man nodded and headed through the halls of the compound and opening the numerous doors for the other two men. Cain finally pulled back a small current revealing a small bed big enough for one slender person, but then again that's all that blood squad had. Adonis approached bed and set the redhead gently upon it, a small noise coming from the man proved that he wasn't dead yet. The sorcerer stood up from settling the man onto the cot and began to run a hand over Chaiaiyoku. A soft blue started to emit from his hand as he scanned the rider's form to see what was happening to his innards.
Adonis let out a gasp startling Cain as his hand reached the others gut, but when he talked his tenor was as smooth and controlled as always. “His intestines are eating at each other like acid.”
Silvery orbs widened almost comically as he acted like a fish for a few moments before he got his tongue and vocal chords to work. “Can you heal him? Please colonel, please tell me you can!”
“I'll definitely try my hardest.” Adonis said in a forced calm. 'Kion' he spoke softly in his dragon's head thanks to their link.
'What do you need Adonis?' the ruby colored dragon responded.
'I need you down here...Chaiaiyoku might die but maybe you can help...dragon's blood has some major healing properties.' the ashen haired man replied.
'I'll be there in just a few moments.' Kion replied and Adonis was able to see small flashes of the blood compound halls as his dragon began to run to the med room.
“So, colonel, what'd he say?” Cain said with a small laugh that grew as he saw the confusion slide into the others amber eyes. “You’re eyes always phase out when you talk to Kion...so what'd he say?”
“He told me he'd get here quickly to help.” Adonis said with just enough time to blink before he heard footsteps announcing the dragon's arrival.
Kion strolled quickly into the room and his cloak fell from his shoulder to float to the ground. He approached the bed and leaned over Chaiaiyoku's form, his wrist floating over the others mouth so that he could split the skin and drip some of the silver liquid into the rider’s mouth to help heal him. The pale blue eclipsed Adonis' hands as he held them over the others stomach area, the blue beginning to sink into Chaiaiyoku's flesh to heal him. Adonis nodded to the conscious redhead telling him to go ahead and give some blood. Kion raised his other hand to his wrist and one sharp nailed finger bit into the flesh harshly, splitting it and allowing some of the silver fluid to drip between the other redhead's parted lips.
Adonis' eyes focused solely on his magic engulfed hands to keep the most power possible going, the blue tinted energy holding the bits of intestines together as his dragon's blood worked its own power. Adonis watched as his magic showed him what was happening in the man, the way little strings of the organs began to appear, knitting back together to reform them selves.
Adonis smiled as the blood hit the organs as well making them knit together even faster. Within moments Chaiaiyoku was completely healed once again. Kion lapped once at his wrist to hold the blood there for a few seconds so the tiny wound would seal. The conscious redhead nodded to Adonis before exiting the room.
“He healed, Colonel?” Cain said softly when he saw the blue glow dissipating from around Adonis’s hands.
“Yes…I’ll need to go tell the Iaton what’s going on…he needs to know about Kira’s death so he can breed the queen for another ruby fighter.” The amber eyed man spun to head off to talk to his C.O.
As he walked through the tower towards a passage that would take him to the center of the Dracon sector, he picked up soft sounds meaning he was being followed. He spun to face the person following him only to chuckle when he spotted one of the large felines that blood squad raised. The dark red scales running along its body were edged with blue showing slight embarrassment. One thin brow arched at the feline and a small chuckle escaped the blood squad rider.
“Play?” came the happy growl from the feline as he faced Adonis, his eyes meeting Adonis’ at the forty-five degree angle it held it’s head at.
‘Silly hell cats,’ Adonis thought as he shook his head gently at the playful, half-grown feline. “I can't play with you…I have to give the Iaton a report on my squad.”
“I’ll come with you then!” the hell cat purred as it bounced slightly, it’s scales turning silver in anticipation of going to the central tower when no felines were allowed in there.
Adonis shook his head and settled a hand on the beast’s head gently. “Nobody but the dragons and riders are allowed in Devlin Central…you need to go play with someone else…Cain and Seimei will probably love to play.”
The hell cat turned around, the scales edging going gold in annoyance as the feline made its way to the sparring grounds where the dragons and riders would normally be. Adonis watched till the cat rounded the corner before he continued on his way. A small sigh of annoyance left him when he heard footsteps once again following him.
“What did I…Kion!” the sorcerer said in surprise when he spun to face the cat he expected to be there and instead spotted the bare chest of his dragon.
Kion’s chest moved slightly as he chuckled silently. ‘Who’d you think I was?’
“No one,” Adonis said as his head turned to the side and tilted it away from his dragon slightly.
Another silent chuckle came from Kion before he stepped around Adonis and into the small oval shaped contraption that would transport them to Central. The silver haired man shook his head slightly and stepped into the transport next to his other half. His left arm brushed against Kion’s right as they stood there waiting for the transport to activate. A small buzz was audible as it began to build up power and then a small flash of green stated that they had made it to Devlin Central.
“Welcome to DC, please state your name, rank, species, and touch the bio-screen.” A mechanical voice said smoothly as two small screens popped out of the wall.
“Colonel Adonis of the Blood Squad, only sorcerer of Devlin.” The sorcerer stated in his calm tenor as his hand reached forward to touch one of the transparent monitors.
“Kion, colonel Adonis’ dragon, first ranked dragon in Blood Squad,” Kion said in his calm monotone as he touched the other scanner.
“Welcome Colonel, welcome dragon,” Came the mechanical tones when the bio-screens finished verifying their identities.
A small hiss announced the opening of the shuttle’s doors. Kion smiled when he spotted the lone black and orange tiger pacing in the halls of the tower.
“Giarra!” Kion exclaimed, drawing the attention of the huge feline.
An almost deafening purr of excitement came from the tiger as she turned to face the red head and his rider. Her tail tip flicked as she pranced quickly over to them. She reared up, her heavy paws landing on Kion’s shoulders when she came down heavily making the red haired dragon happy for once for his stability. Adonis watched the tiger, that was bigger then he was, land against Kion and his eyes widened in fear of his beast getting hurt.
“Kion…long time no see!” the enormous queen purred when Kion wrapped his arms about her neck in a tight hug.
“Hey, sorry, I’ve been busy.” Kion explained before taking a half a step back allowing the feline drop to the ground. “We’re here to see the Iaton.”
“Well, duh! You’re the only squad that hasn’t given a report yet…did you guys catch another of those invaders?” the feline mewed, not at all put off about being dropped so rudely to the floor.
“No, we didn’t. But we do have news for the Iaton…please excuse us…Giarra I think it was?” Adonis said as he laid a gentle hand on Kion’s shoulder.
The feline ducked her head, one leg coming up to rest across her chest and she bowed out of the way allowing them to pass. Kion chuckled slightly as he led the way down the hall confidently. The ashen haired man followed, watching the way the others cloak swayed as he walked, much like his hips would be doing if he could see them. Kion stopped and turned to face a large door.
“Sir, Blood squad members Colonel Adonis and Kion here to give report.” Another mechanical voice called out.
“You know how to enter.” Came the tones of the highest ranked dragon rider.
Kion reached out an arm, wrapping it about Adonis’ shoulders, pulling the other close to his body. When the were pressed tightly against each other Kion allowed his body to fall into the door, their bodies staying upright when they passed through and Kion released his rider. Adonis stepped back, spotting the dragon and rider that held the title Iaton. One was about five foot six with short red hair and matching eyes, while the other seemed to be almost the complete opposite at a height of six foot three with purple hair that was short save for two long braids that hung to his lower chest, and like the other his eyes matched his hair.
“Sir,” the sorcerer said smoothly as he bowed his head to the men standing in the room as well.
“Glad you could make it, finally,” the man with purple hair said sternly.
“Amejisto, be kind to our friends, please.” The shorter of the two said smoothly in his calm and gentle alto.
The purple haired man grunted slightly, but whether it was in agreement or disagreement Kion wasn’t sure. The redhead shook his head slightly as he watched the other two interacting. One hand reached out, gripping Adonis’ far shoulder and dragging him close.
“So, what did you come to tell us?” The shorter of the two Iaton said softly, his red eyes sparkled with an innocence that freaked Kion out slightly.
“We have lost one of our dragons, Kira was killed today in battle.” Adonis said calmly, and took a breath, continuing when he saw the horror on both the Iaton’s faces at the comment. “No, we did not loose the rider as well; Chaiaiyoku was healed using my abilities and Kion’s blood. He will be fine in a few days.”
Chi nodded to the ash haired male with a small frown. “Alright, then of course we’ll contact Shikontsume and tell her she needs to give another male…but who would you suggest for her mating flight?”
“Normally I would suggest Akai, but I don’t think Leo would want him mating so soon after using Endless Torment.” Kion said in his deep tones, the sound of actual words enough to make Adonis shiver as he watched his other half. “So perhaps Seimei as he still hasn’t mated with Cain, Dante if Ialion isn’t too overly protective of him, or even me. Those are the best choices of our squad.”
“I must say no for Seimei, his mate should be his first time, you know that Kion. Dante and Shikontsume could never mate; Dante can’t handle even being around her when she’s in a mating cycle, so that leaves you. I’m sorry Kion, I know you don’t like it but you are the best option and will probably produce the strongest male.” The younger looking red head said softly, as he logically explained everything.
“Of course sir, but I do have one request.” The Blood Squad dragon said, before continuing at the nod of the Iaton. “I must ask for a night with the Colonel first, I will need to be with him before hand to keep from doing something unforgiveable to the queen.”
With a small smirk both Iaton nodded. “Of course,” was the only verbal reply he got.
“Thank you, Sir.”
Akai felt Leo slide back up onto his back, the tension and pull on the leather informing him as to when the rider was resituated.
