Idzi Says Goodbye

Imari yawned stretching his arms up into the sky with, as he stepped out of the large building. He wasn't the only occupant, in fact several of their kind lived in this one building. Servarits, as they were often referred to as, all lived in this shrine, beyond reach of the humans, who they were meant to serve. They were peace keepers, but had first to be summoned if they were needed. A summoning involved an ancient ritual, which were known only to few of the remaining humans, which was as it was to be.

Sevarits had particular jobs to undergo, whether it be to guide a youth, or to break up a trifle. Their purpose was the withhold peace in the world, whenever they were summoned. They all had a certain power they were granted, to which they only were capable of using once they were of age.

"Iver! Idzi!" he called out across the courtyard.

Off in the distance, where the boys both lay, Iver's eyes opened suddenly. "Idzi, wake up." He nudged his brother carefully. Idzi only snuggled in closer to his older brother, who shifted him again, "C'mon, dad is calling for us!" Iver urged on.

Idzi yawned, his eyes opening into small slits, and he made a slight noise of exhaustion. Iver sighed, holding his brother in his arms, which formed a cradle and standing. Idzi rested his head against the strong chest of his brother, drifting off again, but the motion of his brother walking kept him awake. As they approached the garden, Idzi pushed away from him brother, yawning softly, "I want to walk on my own." he grumbled softly, as his brother let him to his feet.

Idzi rubbed his eyes, as the sun's rays shined down on him, and he looked to the white roses in the garden. "The roses are pretty." he remarked, walking over to them and leaning over, to brush his lips against the soft petals of the rose, in a sort of kiss. "Soft are thy petals, sweet rose." he spoke to the rose now, as he turned on his heel to face his brother.

Iver stood straight up, tall, with always a blank expression. Either he had nothing going through his head, or he had everything going through his head, which knowing him, was most likely the second option. He watched his brother carefully, with a sort of desire to protect him.

Idzi's hand ran along the rose's step, and a thorn managed to prick his skin, drawing a gem of ruby liquid to the surface. "Ow!" he yelped, looking earnestly at the bead of blood balanced on his finger tip, "I cut myself." he sniffled.

Iver walked solemnly over to his brother, not speaking a word, but lifting the hand up and kissing the tip of his finger, like a mother does for her child when that child gains a "boo-boo". The blood was gone from the cut, and Idzi looked up at his brother, with curious forest green eyes, "It's all better!" he announced, and pounced his brother, hugging him. Iver didn't speak, he often went into phases where he remained silent for periods of time, and so Idzi turned again, and trudged on through the garden, Iver walking at his own pace, lingering behind.

Imari watched his sons appear from out of the garden, looking to them with a certain pride in them. Both were growing into such fine young men, and along the same lines, both were growing into such fine young bachelors.

Idzi was the clan's most recent to earn his power, but it wasn't yet discovered what power he'd been gifted with. He didn't seem to care much, he didn't seem as if he wanted things to change at all. He was still little Idzi, the little black haired boy with the curious forest green eyes, that looked up to and idolized his older brother.

Iver, who was tall and handsome, also had a power of his own. He was a spirit archer, using the energy around him to create a bow and arrows, and shooting them with great haste and accuracy at his target. He was disciplined and knowledgeable. His hair was white, like fresh fallen snow, and his eyes pale green, soft and apprehensive. He seemed to always have answers and was rather protective in nature.

Both were desirable, yet they seemed not to take interest in women. In fact, the strongest relationship either boy had was with the other, and it seemed to be the only relationship they deemed worthy of holding onto. Of course they both had love for their father, but it didn't quite compare to the brotherly bond these boys shared.

"Where have you boys been?" their father asked, with a grin.

"In the court yard, watching the clouds." Iver answered, and Idzi nodded, "There was a crab in the sky!" he added.

Their father gave a stiffled laugh at the boy's enthusiasm. "Well..." he began, "You both know that a Servarit must spend at minimum a year's time living among humans once they've hit that certain age where they are given rights to their power." Both boys tensed.

"Are you sure he must go now?" Iver pressed, looking down at his brother. Their father merely nodded in response.

"No! But father, please!" Idzi begged.

Their father gave them both a reassuring smile, "You must go, but of course you need someone more experienced to accompany you, and keep you safe." Imari looked to Iver, knowingly.

"Seriously?" Iver questioned.

"I pulled a few strings." Their father answered, "You both leave this evening."

"But that's such short notice!" Idzi answered, "I still have to say good bye to the birds, and the spiders, and the trees, and the grass, and the clouds, and the flowers, and the garden, and the dirt, and the-"

Imari laughed, "They have all that stuff where the humans live too, ya know."

"But it won't be the same! It won't be my birds, spiders, trees, grass, clouds, flowers, garden, and dirt!" his little hand wrapped around his brother's and pulled him, urging him to follow, "Come say goodbye with me!"

Iver sighed, looking to his father, and following in the direction his younger brother pulled, "If I must..." he muttered.

Idzi walked back into the garden, "Goodbye garden!" he announced, but nothing responded. He continued forth to the roses, "Good bye pretty flower," Still there was no response, as he look to the soil and knelt down to look at it "Good bye soil and worms living in it." No response still, as he pulled his brother out the exit of the garden and into the courtyard, "Goodbye green green grass, good bye clouds." He neared a small tree, still in its early years of life, "Goodbye tree." and he grinned at the bird in its nest with two eggs within it, "Goodbye birds." But the bird was startled and jumped up into the higher branches. He smiled, as he turned away, "C'mon brother, we still have so much left to say goodbye to!"
