Chapter 2
After what had seemed like forever, Aiden pulled himself off the shower floor and stepped out. He grabbed the towel hanging over the shower’s door and wrapped it around his waist. He felt as if the shower had done his hangover well, but was still lost now that he finally allowed himself to believe that he was indeed in love with Kai. He ambled out of his room into the kitchen to see if his stomach was capable of containing food. It had begun to growl ferociously half-way through his shower and he couldn’t stand the sound anymore.
He opened the refrigerator door pulled out orange juice and two slices of leftover pizza. As he was warming his food, Leian joined him at the counter.
“Last night was a whirlwind. I don’t remember a thing. Do you?” asked Leian innocently.
“Um, n-not much,” stammered Aiden, “I do remember coming home at least. You passed out in the taxi on the way home. I don’t even see how you managed to walk up the stairs”
“….oh. Well, pour me a cup of coffee? I’ve got a killer headache and I feel like I’m going to be sick. Hold on,” and Leian bolted for the nearest bathroom which happened to be in Kai’s room.
Shit! I hope she doesn’t wake him up, I can’t face him right now, he thought as he stared in horror after her. He heard her begin to heave and only then did he turn away. He didn’t know what he was going to do now that he had developed feelings for him. Nothing. He decided he would do nothing for now. Everyone else thought Kai was straight, minus Aiden, Caz, and Leian. They knew that he had once had a long relationship with a guy named Dylan from sophomore year until about six months ago, but Kai had sworn to never date guys again after Dylan had cheated on him. And Aiden didn’t think that Kai had ever had romantic feelings for any guy other than Dylan, so why should Kai choose Aiden? Sure they were best friends but they had very little in common. It could never work, he thought.
About that time, Leian came out of Kai’s room wiping her mouth with a wet washcloth. “Ugh, you know how I get when I drink, you should’ve stopped me. You just like me to suffer don’t you?” groaned Leian as she laid her head down at the bar. “Coffee. Now.”
“You know, you don’t have to be so bossy. You could get the coffee yourself. And I did try to slow you down last night but you wouldn’t listen to me. You’re just a tranny mess,” teased Aiden. “Here. Drink it slowly or it won’t help at all.”
“Thanks. So, what time is it? I’m supposed to be in at work at 11:30. I think I’ll call in sick though. I’m just a little…under the weather.”
Aiden realized that he hadn’t known how long he had been in the shower earlier. He had gotten in around 6:45; he glanced at the clock, which read 8:53. Two hours! He had sat and cried in the shower for two hours. No wonder he looked like a raisin in the sun. “It’s almost nine,” he said shakily.
“Damn. Do you know where my cell is? I think I might have lost it at….what club were we at, again?”
“Your phone is cuddled up with Fuzz in the macaroni pan on the stove. It looks a bit cheesy.”
“Ugh, I hate that damn ferret! He is always stealing stuff. “
“You know you love him,” said Aiden as he passed Leian her phone. “When you call in you could say that Caz got into another wreck. It’s believable.”
“Yeah, I guess…. I really do need to go in though. Do you think you could drive me? I don’t think I’m really up to it. I need to go to my apartment first and get some clothes. Would you mind waiting there while I got ready?”
“I’ll drive you; it’s no problem at all.” It will get me away from Kai for a few hours, he added to himself.
He walked back into Kai\'s room to retrieve his car keys and wallet. He couldn\'t help but stare at Kai, sleeping like the angel and that Aiden knew he was. Looking around to make sure that no one was watching, he bent down and kissed the boy\'s forehead.
“What am I thinking?” he whispered out loud. Aiden grabbed his stuff and left the room before Kai woke up.
After leaving a note for the other’s to find, Aiden and Leian started the ten minute drive to her apartment. It was a quiet ride. Leian would feel a new knife stab into her brain with every word and Aiden just had too much on his mind to speak. When they arrived, Leian headed straight to her bedroom; Aiden just ambled to the thick leather couch. Even though he didn’t feel tired at all, he drifted into a light sleep.
“Paula, you can dip your fudge balls in my caramel any time of the year,” purred Aiden from the luxuriously plush chaise lounge. He was in a sultry room. The walls were a deep, rich crimson, all of the furniture was pure white velour, and the hard wood floor was as dark as the midnight sky. Low lighting was provided by the shaded lamps set haphazardly throughout the room and a soft jazz number played on top-quality speakers hidden behind a changing screen.
Aiden stood from the lounge chair and stalked over to the one large, circular bed in the room. “Care to join me, my loves?” he asked. “I’m all lonely and cold. Can you make me hot?”
“You bet your sweet ass I can,” declared Kai. Kai then straddled Aiden and began to kiss him passionately, their tongues doing an intricate dance within each other.
Aiden gripped Kai\'s hips and kissed him deeper. He wanted more of Kai. He wanted to be one with him.
“Nothing can make you hotter than my spiced milk. Come and have a drink. Both of you,” begged Paula. The grey-haired lady crawled onto the bed and forced the two boys apart. “My turn.”
At this Aiden awoke in a cold sweat. He needed to tell Kai. He couldn’t deal with this weight on his chest much longer. He looked down and internally swore. He had gotten a hard-on right there on Leian’s couch. He heard the shower cut off and he knew soon Leian would be coming out of the bathroom soon. He remembered something that he used to do in high school when his hormones were raging. He closed his eyes and began pinching his stomach. The short but smarting pinches were enough to get his mind off of his…problem long enough for it to go away. And in good time, because not two minutes after Aiden had finished his exercise, Leian came sulking down the hall.
“Alright, I think I’m ready to go now. Are you okay? You look like you just had a terrible nightmare,” commented Leian. "Was it the Paula dream again?"
“Uh, yeah, fine. You ready? I was thinking we could stop for lunch if we get out of here early enough.”
“Sure, lunch. As long as it’s only clear liquids. I still feel like there’s a hobbit living in my brain and a dwarf doing back-flips in my stomach.”
He opened the refrigerator door pulled out orange juice and two slices of leftover pizza. As he was warming his food, Leian joined him at the counter.
