Ezra watched as the flames dance across the room of his study, shadows danced and swayed in the
darkness, everything inside the out was peaceful and calm. The storm outside raged and ripped at
the trees, Ezra closed his eyes and let the memories wash over him.
*******
Ezra sat in the carriage his eyes closed; the evening had been dismal, the lights to bright, the
house to warm, and to make it worst, no one there interested him. There had been dukes, nobles and
royalty, but all had the same flaw, they were just sheep, not willing to do anything other then
follow others. Ezra sigh and opened his eyes, removing the black and silver mask he wore, for over
300 years he had used humans, as toys and food, but now, he wanted more. Ezra heard the sudden cry
from the coachman and was jerked forward as the coach suddenly stopped.
‘Are you all right my lord?’
The voice outside the coach was that of a young male, not the ancient old man who was Ezra’s
driver. Before Ezra could answer the door of the coach was pulled open and Ezra felt his heart
stop. The youth was tall, with a powerful build, his chestnut brown hair flew wildly about his
angular face, and a black cloth hid his mouth and nose from view. But Ezra knew who the youth was;
the large chocolate brown orbs told Ezra that is was Warren Masters, the son, of Robert Masters,
the local doctor.
‘Good evening Warren.’
Ezra smiled as he saw the boy start, then reached up and pulled the black cloth from his face; he
raised a gun to Ezra’s face.
‘Get out of the carriage.’
Ezra chuckled, he could smell the boys fear, but something else, an excitement, and a desire, and
Ezra just turned to face the boy.
‘No, why do you not get in here. I do not like the cold.’
He could see the confusion that moved across Warren’s beautiful face, the way his brown eyes
darkened in thought. Ezra found that the boy before him, was starting to interest him, the boy was
stubborn, proud, even vulgar at times, but he was also unbreakable. Finally Warren stepped in and
sat opposite Ezra, the gun still pointed at him.
‘Why don’t you stop pointing that gun at me?’
‘No. I know what you are! You’re a monster! You killed Elizabeth, Jonathan and all the others!’
Ezra was shocked, it was true he had killed them all, but no one is town would dare believe that
of him much less accuse him of it.
‘Then is that you are very foolish or very brave?’
He saw Warren try to understand what he meant, he moved faster then the boy could see, his hand
closed over the boys wrist the other gripped the chestnut brown mane forcing the boys head back,
exposing his pale white skin.
‘Let go!’
He felt as Warren tried to push him away, but Ezra didn’t care, the boy had spirit, true, but he
was also going to be trouble. Ezra pressed his lips against the warm skin, feeling the boys pulse
quicken, and stopped. He boys sent had changed; the fear was gone, replaced by a raw desire.
Laughing Ezra released the boy’s hair, moving his hand to capture the boys chin.
‘You desire me Warren.’
‘No I...Stop, you can’t...’
Ezra pressed their lips together, enjoying the feel of Warren’s own inner battle, until finally
the boy returned his kiss. The kiss which had started as a gently brush of lips soon began to turn
to a rough passionate battle for dominance, Ezra’s tongue moved into Warren’s mouth claiming the
warm heat as his. Finally the kiss broke, Warren’s cheeks where flushed red, his lips swollen,
Ezra smiled at him, and moved in for another but Warren turned away.
‘Don’t turn away from me.’
‘You’re still a monster.’
Ezra moved away and stared at the boy perplexed, he boy desired him that was clear, yet he would
still fight himself and Ezra. Shaking his head Ezra reached out and touched Warrens face.
‘Never lose that. That is what makes you precious to me.’
Warren smacked Ezra’s hand away but did not leave the carriage, ‘never lose what?’
The drive appeared at the still open door and glanced between his master and the intruder, Ezra
nodded at him, and finally the carriage began to move again.
‘Never lose the passion you have, I do not need another servant.’
A snort came from the Warren who turned and fixed his brown blazing eyes on Ezra, ‘I will never be
you’re servant, that I can promise you.’
**********************************************
A knock on the door of Ezra’s study caused him to turn, Warren stood there, still as beautiful as
ever, the fire light making his dark eyes gleam in the shadowy light.
‘That human thing is here to see you about other boy.’
‘Thank you Warren show him in.’
‘Yes Master.’
Warren left without another word, nor did he see the pain that flashed across his lovers face.
Ezra had loved him, the fiery passion the once human had had for life. Through Ezra’s long life
there had been many promises and lies, but Warren’s hurt him the most, for Warren was the first
person he truly loved.
‘You lied to me Warren; you told me you’d never be my servant.’
