Chapter Two: Showing Off
______________

Where we last left off: “Alright, douche bags. Get to stepping, or we’re gonna be late for class.” Mark started to herd his group out, and grabbed Felix’s elbow as he made his way swiftly to the gym.
______________

Mark continued to pull Felix out of the locker room and into the large gym, which was currently echoing the sounds of the immature boys he shared gym class with, making the annoying noise tenfold what it would usually be.
A rather large, burly man with a graying, receding hair line walked into the gym, and tugged lightly on a rope hanging from the ceiling. “Alright, maggots. See this rope right here? I call your name, you climb up it. Not too much for you to handle, is it?” the class immediately quieted down and lined up single-file along the yellow sideline on the closest side of the gym.
They swiftly went down the alphabet, and all the boys had a chance to either try and fail, or climb the rope.
Ted, who was on one side of Mark, leaned over to whisper while a particularly frail kid tried to pull his weight up the rope. “I wonder how Kitten the Fairy’s gonna do this. His puny self probably couldn’t do half the stuff Mr. Frankensuck-off puts us through.” Mark just shook his head.
As the teacher read down the alphabet, one by one Mark’s friends went up to the rope and made their way to the top, ringing the bell. Some had more difficulty in doing so than others, but all of them got up there in five minutes or so. “Seiler, Mark. Move your ass, Seiler!” Mark approached the rope and quickly made his way up. He made it in exactly three minutes, his time being the best of the class.
After Mark took is place in line again, the teacher hollered out the next name. “Shattner, Felix.”

Felix confidently approached the rope looming in front of him. He could hear the whispers and snickers behind him as he quickly stretched his thin body.

“Stop showing off, Shattner, and just get on up there!”

Felix nodded and stepped onto the safety mat. He began to fluidly climb the rope, his feet nimbly reaching every knot in the hanging cord. He rang the bell loudly and looked down with a smug smirk on his face to see Mark’s goons and a good half of the rest of the class gaping at the small boy. Mark, on the other hand, just smirked right back at him.

Felix made haste in making his way back down, and when he was about five or six feet of the ground he jumped down onto the mat below him. He confidently strode back to the line after the teacher called out his time; two minutes and 30 seconds. His was the best time out of two of the gym classes put together. When he reached his spot, Mark gave him a pat on the back. “Nice going, Felix. You did good, kid.” The kid on the other side of Felix, Joe, just snickered. “He really must be a fairy… he has the wings!” the others quietly snickered. “Shaddup, you maggots! Total and complete silence!” the boys quickly shut up, and Mark and Felix held in their laughter. At the end of the class, they made it back to their lockers.
Mark kept an eye on Felix as he changed, making sure no one would make fun of him further. In Mark’s book, Felix was pretty okay.
Felix changed back into his tight jean pants and his black wife-beater. He grabbed the towel he had put in his locker earlier and quickly wiped the sweat from his body, face, and neck. He then grabbed the zip-up jacket that he had worn around his waist earlier and put it on; it was off the shoulder, showing off his pale, boney collarbone and an equally pale slender neck.
He changed his shoes, leaving his tattered gym sneakers with his uniform. He took his hair tie out, but left his bangs clipped back
with the blue barrettes. He grabbed his black-and-white checkered book-bag and turned to leave when Mark grabbed his bare shoulder.

“Hey, Felix.” Felix turned around to the greenish-hazel eyes that always seemed to draw him in. “Huh?”
Mark began to take the book-bag off of Felix’s back. “Here, show Ted the drawing.” Felix was skeptical, and his visage showed it. “Um… I don’t think--”
“Oh shut up… just show him the damn picture!”
The other boys’ interests were piqued as they gathered around the new student, and he pulled his sketchbook out of his bag. He flipped to a page that held Ted’s likeness in graphite on the paper. “Here.” The boys immediately began to comment on it.

“Looks like the fairy can do more than just climb ropes!”

“Tch… I didn’t know Kitties could draw.”

“Faggots are good with art. I knew he was a Queen!”

“Alright, Alright. Stop it, fucktards. Ted, give Felix his sketchbook back.”
Felix tugged his sketchbook away from Ted and tucked it away in his back pack. Felix began to stride out of the cubicle and into the hallway of the large locker room when he turned his head, one slender brow was cocked and a mischievous smirk danced across his visage.
“Us queen-fairy-faggot-kitties can do a lot of things, unlike you big-suckass-Seiler-goons.” He winked, and then continued to walk. The rest of the boys just stared, not expecting that at all, while Mark began to laugh hysterically. He quickly finished changing and left the locker room without his ‘posse’ to catch up with Felix.

“Hey… Hey, Felix!” Felix turned around, and smiled cheesily when he saw it was Mark. “Well, someone had to shove it back in their faces. Too bad it had to be the new sophomore.” Mark patted Felix on the back. “That was some smooth talkin’, I’ll give you that. But why do you let them call you all that stuff? I can tell by the way you climbed that rope… you don’t look the part, but you’re pretty strong, aren’t you? You could shut their mouths in a second.”

Felix shrugged. “And ruin my first chance to be accepted by a ‘posse’? Never!” Felix waved his hand, putting emphasis on ‘never’. “Plus… I don’t let them call me that stuff.” Just then, Mark’s friends turned the corner and began to run after them. “Hey, Mark! Kitty! Hold up, man!” Mark stopped, turning to face Felix with a skeptical, amused expression. “You don’t let them call you that stuff, huh?” Felix bit his bottom lip, and then quickly smiled. “No… I just allow it.”

The two boys turned around to face the lagging group of guys, who had just caught up to them. “Guess what, my little minions? It’s now lunch time. Get yer asses to the picnic table! MARCH!” he pointed to the door that led to the courtyard, and they proceeded to run out to grab the picnic table before some other group of kids got to it. “Well, took care of that problem…” Felix chuckled. “Yep! You certainly know how to handle your little minions!” Mark chuckled as well.
Just before they exited through the door, Mark stopped Felix. “But… seriously, man… You should stop them from calling you a faggot. It’s really not cool, and I know I would go ballistic if someone called me that!”
Felix shrugged, and proceeded to push the door open. “Yeah, but what makes you so sure that I’m not a fag, eh?” he then ran down to the picnic table, throwing a, “Hurry up, or you’ll be callin’ yourself a fucktard!” over his shoulder.

Yay! I got impatient with waiting and I decided to post the next chapter up.
And yay reviews! Here are responses:

Camui- Thank you! I picked the same-sex school angle because I myself have been to an all-girl's school all my life and of course I use my own life as inspiration since it's what I know best... but I'm glad I could mix it up and make it a little more interesting!
thanks as well for the advice, as you'll probably see I'm not so well-versed when it comes to writing; it's just something as I do for a hobby.

Koira- Yeah, I realized it does move pretty fast... however, I definitely have a few chapters lined up and just waiting to be posted, so even though it does move fast there's still a ton of other stuff that's yet to happen. Thanks for reading, I'm glad you like it!

Kordavamennemer- Yay, your review made my confidence double, at least! I'm so glad you like it. I was hesitant to put it up simply because I knew it certainly wouldn't compare with some of the other works I've read, but in the end I decided to put it out there anyhow... and I'm so glad it's being received so well! Thank you!
