Chapta 2.

ENJ0Y. ;D

There was a knock on Lea’s door. The small cottage had visitors? That was odd. Lea got up from in front the old fire place mantle and walked to the door. She opened it and was shocked by the sight of a well-dressed young man. He looked like a messenger of some sort. The young man bowed and handed her a rolled up paper which almost looked like some sacred scroll. The young man soon bowed again and walked away before Lea could ask why he’d given it to her.

Her mother and father were sitting in the living room knitting up socks for the winter. They were expecting to sell the products in the local market area. Her little brother was helping gather the material from around the area with the help of one of his friends that currently lived with their family.

Lea walked back into the living room and sat in front of her mother and father. Her mother, who looked like a woman in her fifties sat up straight, put down her knitting tools and smiled at her warmly. “What is it dear?” she asked, the smile not yet faded from her wrinkled face.

“Well mum, I just received a scroll?” She questioned as she undid the ribbon wrapped around it. Once that was done, she opened the paper up and read it over. “Oh...” She looked up at her mother and father. Then she crumpled the paper up and tossed it aside, “Well, that was nothing.”

“Now, dear...” Lea’s father stood from the floor in which he sat on and walked over to the crumpled up paper. He reached for it and opened it up, straightening it out the best he could. He read it over and he smiled greatly, he looked over to his wife.

“Lea has been invited to a ball How splendid.” He laughed in a jolly manor, “It’s in the king’s palace.” he added and then handed it back to Lea. “Now darling, you should go to that. Maybe get yourself a wealthy husband while you’re at it ”

“Father, are you insane? It’s in the KING’S palace.” She emphasized the word king.

“Your point?” He asked.

“My point is that the king is a demon. He probably wants to eat me.” She said, a shiver went down her spine.

“Don’t be silly.” Her mother joined in. She got up from her seat, “I have the perfect dress for you.” She smiled at her daughter and walked over to the old wardrobe located in the back of the room. Opening it up, she grabbed a yellow colored gown. It looked above knee length, nothing frilly but instead it looked like a casual sun dress. It’s cleavage seemed quite revealing though and it had no straps. It was something near a boostier.

“Mom, do you want be to look like a tramp?” She asked with resentment for the dress. “That is hardly classy...” She crossed her arms, “And besides, I refuse to go to the ball held by that demon king. He is pure evil, I resent evil ” She cried.

Pure evil was the least of her parent’s concern. They made her go to the ball by making her feel extremely guilty. They always had a way of tricking her into doing things she didn’t want. She soon found herself getting ready for the event that was about to take place in a couple of hours. Her mother helped her with what little make-up they had and helped her get fit into the dress.

The time eventually came to where she had to go to the palace. Luckily for her, her mother gave her extra coins so she could get there by carriage. She whistled from outside of the door, bid a farewell to her parents and got into a carriage that had stopped in front. The carriage carried her off toward the palace and into the palace gates. Lea got out once she was dropped off in front of the great door and she walked up the steps in her heels. Instead of a smile being on her face like the other girls, she frowned. ‘I hate this,’ she thought.

Lea gave the guard her invitation and stepped in. There were stairs leading down into a great ball room. It was decorated in gold and glass pieces. It smelled floral and she could smell the sweet scent of deserts as well as dinner lingering in the air. This didn’t seem like a demonic king’s palace at all.
