More Than Friends

Don't forget to review! Enjoy the story as it begins to heat up.

Angie

Geez, men take longer than women in the washroom! I’ve been waiting in the car for five minutes already.

Just then Cody comes strolling out of the house toward me, keys jingling, wavy brown hair flapping in the breeze. I know he’s supposed to be my best friend, but he’s so damn cute and that thing that happened in my room, what the heck was that? He says it was an accident, and I should believe him, but you can’t lick someone by accident can you? Oh I want him so much and he doesn’t even know.

As he opens the car door a mischievous glimmer passes his handsome face and glints through his clear blue eyes. I’m not sure what he’s thinking, but considering what I heard him doing just before coming out, I think I know what’s on his mind. He passes me a plastic bag.

“I got a present for you Ange.” His smile is heart stopping.

“What?” I’m curious.

“Well open it silly!”

It’s the latest Robert Jordan novel. My heart flips a little at the fact that he knows me so well. “Wow! This is great Cody, Thanks.”

I move in to kiss him on the cheek at the same time as he awkwardly turns toward me. Our lips lightly brush; it’s electric to say the least. I mumble something unintelligible as I pull away turning red as a beet. He starts the engine and a tape starts playing. It’s ‘Breathe’ by Faith Hill.

I smile as I realize he’s got the mix tape I made him for his birthday this year. All of our favorite romantic songs are on it. I remember listening to it in his room after his party. He said it was his favorite present of all. We lay on the bed, my head in the crook of his arm as we listened. We had done this many times before, but this time was different. I felt a little guilty as I could see that he had a boner the whole time. Once I realized the effect I was having on him, I teased him mercilessly, breathing on his ear and intermittently rubbing my breasts against his chest. That was when I first realized that I loved Cody as more than a friend. Seeing his response to me only made me feel the same. I’ve never said anything to him about it. I really want to though.

It takes us about 20 minutes to get to the beach. He kills the engine and looks at me as if he wants to say something. He chickens out and tells me he’ll go get the towels from the back, so I go to find a spot.

I find a relatively secluded area only 15 feet from the shoreline and take my shirt and skirt off. I’m standing there in the barely-there bikini I wear when I feel like being naughty and turn around. Cody’s standing there, his mouth slightly open and I can feel his eyes on my body even through his shades.

“You done catching flies there or are you planning to bring those towels over here?” I strike a pouty pose as I say this, hands on my hips and my chest down. It has the desired effect.

“Y-Yeah.” He stammers and comes toward me.

He puts down the towels and picnic basket, his eyes never quite leaving my chest. He straightens and slowly pulls off his own shirt. Now it’s my turn to ogle as I suck back the extra saliva that forms in my mouth. When we were children, he was never athletic, preferring to sit with me and read comics or play games, but I can’t help notice that the weights he suddenly started lifting last year are having stunning affects on his body. As he lifts his arms, his chest ripples and I can see his slightly soft belly has been replaced by a gleaming six pack. He removes his sunglasses and this time I can see the naughty look he gives me as he throws his shirt in my face, kicks off his sandals and runs for the water. I have a lovely view of his taut backside as I contemplate whether or not to follow him.

I notice a cute girl with long blonde hair checking him out and wading toward him. Not on my watch, I think, as I kick off my own sandals and rush at him. The blonde bimbo looks furious as I catch Cody off guard and jump on his back. The water has slowed his progress enough for me to surprise attack him. I look right at the bitch with an evil stare as I wrap my arms around his neck and playfully kiss his ear. I can feel his shoulders stiffen under my grasp as he hesitates, unsure of what to do.

“Umm… Ange?” He asks.

“What?” I reply

“W-what are you…” I’m becoming frustrated with his reluctance to say what he’s really thinking.

“What am I doing?” I retort. “I’m kicking your pansy ass!” I say as I kick the back of his knees and wrestle him under the water.

He recovers more quickly than I anticipated as he bursts from under the surf and grabs me around the thighs, trying to exact his revenge. I wrap my legs around his waist and take him down with me. We land in the water. I can feel his firm, warm body against me in sharp contrast to the cold water. If I could breathe I would probably take my life in my hands and just go for that kiss I’ve been dying for since that day in his room.

I feel his arms close around my waist and hoist me out of the depths. I cough and sputter, holding on to him for dear life.

“Ange? Are you ok?” One hand goes up into my soaked hair. “I’m sorry, I’m such a klutz.” He holds me close to his body.

I can feel his breath in my ear as he mutters his concern. I feel as if I could stay like this forever, never moving and be perfectly happy. Sensing I’m not about to move and obviously concerned that he’s done real damage to me, he pulls me back so he can look into my face. He looks at me, somewhat confused regarding the sultry expression that I can feel on my face. I look right into his eyes as he looks into mine. In this instant, I know that this morning was no accident as his face begins to mirror the expression that I’m wearing. The rest of the people on the beach seem to vanish. It’s just the two of us.

“Cody?” I say softly.

“Y-yeah!” He stammers anxiously. “S-sorry about that.” He says as his demeanor becomes detached and he places me on the squishy floor of the ocean.

He swims away too quickly for me to catch him. He’s always been the stronger swimmer. I stand there for a moment, bewildered, and then return to my beach towel. I sit there, nervous and disappointed that I didn’t get to say what I really feel. One of us has to say it…
