Chapter 2: School…
The bus ride to school wasn’t every long but knowing that a certain brunette twin was watching his every move was unnerving. The bus felt as though it was taking the long way to the school. Kale would cautiously glance to the back of the bus and see his older brother glaring at him. ‘I think the spell is working…’ Kale hoped with all his might and to the stars. Looking to the front of the bus he noticed that the bus was approaching the school and started to slow down. Gathering all his belongs as the bus slowly pulled into the school. When the bus came to a complete stop Kale was one the first to get up and rush out of the bus not knowing how long the spell might last.
As Kale got off the bus there weren’t many students in front of the school, the bus was early today and most of the students haven’t arrived yet. There was still some snow from winter as it slowly started to go into spring. Kale climbed the stairs to go into the school before his brother could catch up with him. He could hear some of Mike’s friends greet his older brother behind him. He looked behind him to see his brother occupied with his friends, a wave of relief sweep over him as he headed towards his locker. As Kale rounded the corner he, felt an arm snake around his necked. “Hey how was your weekend, special K?” a deep voice asked as he kept walking down the hall. Turning his head to see Matt, who is Mike’s best friend from the lacrosse team. Kale kept walking unfazed by Matt’s arm around him. Matt had a similar built as his brother but he had black hair with grey eyes with a bit of green flakes. Noticing the odd stares and whispering from Matt’s arm was around him, he shrugged off Matt’s arm as he continued to walk. “It was ok, finished a project” Kale kept the answer simple.
“You can be a geek sometimes” Matt replied as he smiled at Kale. “The project wasn’t for school.” Kale said as he reached his locker and started to turn the combination lock. The smile faded and his face went slightly pale, “Oh…” he replied and he looked around to see if anyone heard what Kale had said. “Relax, no one is around and they wouldn’t have understood anyways” Kale spoke as if he could hear Matt’s thoughts. Matt’s face started to go back to normal and started to blush a little. Matt was about to say something but was interrupted as my brother yelled his name as he ran down the hallway.
“Matt, buddy I was looking all over for ya” Mike as he tried to catch his breath. “I found your brother and knew you wouldn’t be far.” Matt replied as he gestured to me. “I’ll leave you to alone, I have something to do.” Kale said as he finished gathering his books and closed his locker as Kale started to walk down the west wing of the school. As Kale was leaving Mike tried to take a step towards his brother but it looked like his feet were glued to the floor. When he tried to yell no words came out. “Dude, you ok?” Matt asked as Kale got out of ear shot.
Kale stood in a secluded stairway that leads to the basement of the school. Getting impatient and paranoid since his brother or Matt might have followed him to keep an eye on him. The soft buzzing noise from the fluorescent was all Kale could hear in the dimly lit stairway. Feed up with waiting Kale started to walk up the stairs from the bottom. As Kale reached the top and turned the corner to go back into the school he bumped into a small petite girl. When the girl gained her composer back she seemed to be out of breath.
“Sorry I am late.” A girl said in a small voice between her breathes. “My mom was running late this morning” She said with a more sturdiness in her voice. “It’s ok, as long as you made it here ok.” Kale spoke as he opened his bag and started to rummage through it for one of the two boxes. He fished out the one that had a carving of a crescent moon on the lid. As he slid the lid opened the moon slowly became a full moon. Taking out a deep red sachet out of the box and handed it to the girl. The girl took the small bag in her hand. “Wear it around your neck or keep it on you when you leave home for anything. Fifteen dollars is what I am selling it for.” Kale said to the girl as she looked down at the sachet and back at Kale. She then dug in her pocket and pulled out a few bills and handed three bills of five to Kale.
“Now you are going to have to take responsibility for the end result of this charm” Kale said as he placed the bills in his pocket. After putting the box with the moon on the cover back in his bag. He waved to the girl as he turned to leave so he could get to class on time. When he turned around the corner he ran into a hard body that was taller than he was. Kale looked up to see Matt’s face looking down at him, “Just thought I would checking up on you. Since, you left and not mentioned where you were going.” Matt said as he glanced at Kale then saw the girl behind him. The next thing Matt did next was something thing he thought he would ever do.
With one swift movement Matt’s hand was on the back of Kale’s neck, “Sorry but this one belongs to me” Matt said with a smile on his face. Kale’s body froze up after hearing those words leave Matt’s lips. Another swift movement Matt’s lip was gently placed over Kale’s own. Kale stood here in shock because of his brothers best friend was kissing him.
