Chapter 2 - Arcanum
Chapter 2 - Arcanum
Alan handed the report to Mrs. Woods the next day. “Good job Alan! If you keep this up and complete all the assignments then I will pass you.” That comment gave a little motivation. He approached his seat and the class started like any other school day.
“Wow, Alan! You actually made up the report. It’s not you at all.” Jessica said. She was the girl who sits next to Alan, as well as his crush. “Are you Alan? Because the Alan I know never do homework, let alone a three page paper?”
(You are right Jess; I never do homework. Who said I was the one who did it? However, the handwriting on the report is mine.)
“Um, I guess I’ve changed.” He replied. Alan fell in love with Jess the first time he saw her on the first day of class. He never had the guts to ask her out or tell her how he felt. Her disheveled blond hair looks so good on her and her soft pink lips makes him want to kiss her right there. He wondered what flavor lip-gloss she put on. She has a pretty face and not to mention her sexy body. Alan could not keep his eyes on hers as they spoke.
Soon, class was almost over. Mrs. Woods had finished grading all the reports. She handed them back to the students. “If anyone has a problem with their grade or feel that it’s an unfair mark, speak with me after class.” The last test she gave back was Alan’s test. “When did you learn to write like this? Whom did you copy this from?”
In shock, Alan saw that his report grade was a perfect A+. “Miss, it’s all my work. I didn’t copy anything from anybody.” He looked at Jessica and then at Mrs. Woods. “I swear!”
“You better not be lying. Anyway, good job Alan” Mrs. Woods sat back down at her desk getting ready to leave. Class was almost over.
Jessica showed Alan her report. She got a B+. “How did you turn smart overnight Alan?” She gave him the sweetest look. It was apparent that she was admiring Alan’s grade on his report. No doubt they were getting more intimate.
(God, she’s so beautiful.)
Alan’s stomach twisted and turned. Jessica always made him nervous. There were so many times that he tried to express his feelings for her, but every time he tried, his mind would go black at her presence.
Mrs. Woods made one last announcement before class ended. “There is a written test tomorrow. It is the final exam. This test will be counted as two tests. It is very important that you pass this test. Please study!”
(I hate tests. Chances are that I’m going to fail this one. She is counting this one as two tests. I want to pass this test. Besides, I like the attention that I get from Jess when I do well in class. I must pass this test. I have to study hard tonight.)
Alan went home and studied. The afternoon came and gone. All he could think about was Jess, the final exam of the semester, and the A+ report that he knew he didn’t do. He put aside his mysterious report for now and concentrated on studying.
(Whoever did this report for me, could do the written essay for me tomorrow.)
He continued to study after dinner until his head started to hurt again. Alan fell asleep on his desk.
