Kai
“Kai! Luc!” Satu bounded into the compartment. “How are you both?”
“Satu, you just saw us two weeks ago!” Kai laughed at the fairy.
“I know that,” Satu looked up at her friend. “I’m still happy to see you,” At her height of four feet no inches, Satu was almost always looking up at people.
They were once again on the flying train that would take them back to Serveno’s for another three months.
“Attention everyone! Please keep all doors and windows closed as we are descending into the ocean. Thank you,” Came the announcement from the driver.
“Cas!”
“Satu! How was your break?” The mermaid entered their compartment as the train lifted out of the water and back into the sky.
“Fantastic! There’s going to be three new transfers to our level, did you hear?”
“Here we go again,” Kai smiled as she rolled her eyes at Lucian.
“Oh let them go. You know they enjoy this,” He smiled at the witch across from him.
“Turn around; you didn’t get your wings taken care of at all, did you?” The angel shook his head as Kaida went to work grooming his wings.
“Hello ladies and Luc,” Marius opened the door after the next stop.
“Did you hear about the three new students?” Satu asked immediately.
“Isn’t one of them supposed to be Memnoch’s kid or something?”
At this, Luc and Kai started paying attention. “They wouldn’t let his child come to school here,” Luc insisted.
“But what if they did, Luc? They could get him into the school and then we’d all be doomed!” Kai started freaking out.
Luc gave Marius a stern look. They all knew their witch was prone to panicking. “Kai, listen to me,” She had started hyperventilating and didn’t respond. “Kaida! Calm down.”
“Right, calm, got it,” With effort, she took deep breaths and focused on Luc trying to calm her down by insisting Memnoch’s child wouldn’t be going to school with them.

During the Feast that night, Kai looked for Drago, her boyfriend, to no avail. He just wasn’t there. Drago was a dragon and like the majority of his kind, could take human form.
“Maureen isn’t here either,” She worriedly pointed out to her friends. It was a well known fact that the air elemental wanted Drago as her boyfriend.
“Relax, Kai. I’m sure it’s just a fluke, Sweetie,” Marius put a cold arm around her.
“Really?” She asked.
“Really. Now eat up before your food gets cold,” He smiled, fangs catching the light slightly.
After the Feast, everyone went to their rooms. Except Kai; she went to Drago’s room.
She knocked on his door and opened it. “Dra-... What the hell is going on?” She demanded.
Drago pulled away from Maureen. “This isn’t what it looks like, Kai.”
“Oh I think it is, Drago. You know what, Maureen? You can have him, I don’t want him anymore,” Kai turned and fled the room. Tears were obscuring her vision now so it was no wonder she barged into the wrong room. “Oh, I’m sorry,” She turned to go.
“It’s okay,” His voice stopped her and she slightly turned back around. That’s when he noticed the tears. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing,” She insisted. “I’m Kai, by the way.”
“I’m Ice. And I don’t think you’d be crying like this if it were nothing,” He reasoned. “But if you’d rather, I won’t press you.”
“Thanks, Ice. Which of your parents is an Angel, if you don’t mind my asking?” She knew by his black wings that he was a Fallen Angel.
“My mom; my dad was human, actually. I’ve never met him though. What about you?”
“I’m a witch and I know nothing of my real parents. I’m an orphan.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Kai stayed with Ice for a while longer. “It was my ex, Drago. I caught him cheating on me,” She told him finally, causing the tears to come back.
“Oh, Kai, I’m so sorry,” Ice wrapped his arms and wings around her. It reminded her slightly of Luc.
Before she left his room later, she gave him one more hug and said, “You’re sitting with me and my friends tomorrow, okay?”
“Yeah, alright,” The Fallen Angel smiled. Kai returned the gesture and went to her own room.
“’Morning all! This is my new friend, Ice. Ice, this is Marius, Luc, Cas, and Satu. I accidentally barged into his room last night,” Kai introduced the Fallen Angel to her other friends.
“Bet Drago was none too happy about that,” Cas mused.
“I don’t give a damn what that sorry excuse for a Dragon thinks,” The Witch spat, glaring in general.
“Wait, I’m confused,” Marius narrowed his dark red eyes.
After a shared look between Ice and Kai, Ice said, “She was crying when she came into my room. She caught Drago cheating on her.”
“With Maureen,” Kai added. Again, she found a black wing wrapped around her. “Thanks, Ice.”
“Anytime,” He smiled down at her.
“I like him. If he can stop you from freaking out this easily, he can stay,” Luc grinned.
“Shut up, Luc!” Kai stuck her tongue out at him.
“You just have all sorts of piercings, don’t you?” Ice smiled.
“I like them, not that you have room to talk about that,” She flicked his lip ring gently.
“Fair enough,” The smile didn’t leave his face.
“Hey, who’s that?” Satu looked at the entrance doors. Walking into the Great Hall was a tall man with short messy black hair and a trench coat.
Marius immediately tensed upon seeing him. “He’s a Slayer.”
“I thought Slayers were taught by other Slayers? Why would he be here?” Kai asked.
“Sometimes they can choose to get a more – balanced education. Usually their parents request that of the Guild when they first take them,” Ice explained.
“That actually makes sense,” Satu looked at Cas.
“No, absolutely not. Stop right there, both of you,” Marius insisted. “He kills my kind.”
“It’s in their nature, girls. That’s just how it is,” Luc added.
“Fine, we’ll leave him alone,” Cas sighed.
“They get like this. Whoever’s the other new student, they’ll find them and talk to them. Then become their friend,” Kai informed Ice.
“They have to be friends with everyone for some odd reason,” Luc added.
“We do not! Oh, Satu, there’s the new girl,” Cas said, looking back at the door.
Luc, Marius, and Kai laughed while Ice just grinned. “Go on then, we’ll see you later,” Kai waved her hand in the direction of the new girl.
The Fairy and Mermaid hopped up from the table and made their way to the new girl.
“Her name’s Tanis. She lives in the room next to me,” Celeste, a green haired Witch, informed the group. She was in almost of Kai’s classes and had become friends with her that way.
“Oh, Ice, this is Celeste. Celeste, Ice. He’s new as well,” Kai introduced them.
“Hello, Ice. Those two are going to have a challenge with her. She’s not all that social,” Celeste added, turning to look at the new girl, Tanis.
“They’ll handle the talking, you know that,” Marius smiled.
“Very true. And Kai, I’m very sorry about Drago.”
“Thanks, Celeste,” Kai gave her a small smile. The other Witch nodded once, turned, and left to her group of friends. “She’s empathic and psychic. She can tell what you’re feeling and why,” She explained to Ice.
“Oh look, they’re bringing her over here,” Luc stated, seeing Satu and Cas walking back to the table with Tanis.
“Guys, this is Tanis. Tanis, this is Ice, Marius, Luc, and Kaida,” Satu did the introductions.
“Preferably Kai,” Kai corrected raising her pierced eyebrow at her friend. She muttered a summoning charm and pulled up a chair for Tanis. “We won’t bite. Well, Marius night, but not too hard,” She grinned.
“Shut up, Kai,” Marius mock-glared.
Slightly uncomfortable, Tanis sat. “So, Tanis, I hope these two didn’t bother you too much to get you to come sit with us,” Luc smiled warmly at the girl.
“They didn’t. But I do have a question for you guys,” Luc nodded, encouraging her. “Does it bother any of you that none of you are the same kind?” She asked, eyes flicking from one person to the next.
“Not at all, actually. Why do you ask?” Marius answered.
“Well, I was always told that I shouldn’t associate with those who aren’t my kind,” Tanis looked away from the group.
“Well, Tanis, if you would rather sit somewhere else-...” Luc began.
“No! No, this is why I came here. I want to meet different types of people.”
“If you don’t mind my asking, what exactly are you?” Ice asked quietly.
“I- I’m a Naga, honestly,” She looked up to judge their reactions.
“I’ve never met a Naga before,” Kai mused, still slightly cautious of this girl.
“Well, I’m a Mermaid, Satu here is a Fairy, Marius is a Vampire, Ice is a Fallen Angel, Luc’s an Angel, and Kai’s a Witch,” Cas informed the Naga beside her.
“Are you venomous?” Luc asked.
“I am, actually.”
“So, why were you allowed to come here if your parents don’t want you mixing with other kinds?” Marius tilted his head slightly to the left.
“Well, I was home schooled but then my mother died and my father’s very busy so he let me come,” Tanis averted her eyes as she said this.
Kai thought she was hiding something but immediately shook her head, sure it was her overly cautious nature.
** Told you I’d have this out today. As I said before, it may be a while before I can get the next chapter up. I can tell you that it will be focused on Cyrus, the Slayer. Until next time!
