CHP2

I woke up sandwiched between two men. I snuggled closer to one and the other rolled over and snuggled closer to me.

The one in front of me rolled to face me and smiled in his sleep. “You always smell so interesting in the morning.” He whispered. He put his arms around me and pulled me as close as possible. He kissed the top of my head. “So interesting…”

This was James. He was a werewolf, like so many others in the house. He was tall and lithe with a head full of messy brown hair and hazel eyes, and so far his favorite hobby was to sleep in the bed with me. He was also one of the people I had saved from “The Facility.”

I pushed a little on this chest so I could get some breathing room. “Stop smelling me.” I said as I yawned.

Cameron laughed and hugged me from behind. “But you smell so cute.” Cameron was a werewolf too, but he was the youngest of the pack. He had blonde hair and green eyes that matched perfectly with his boyish face.

I whipped my head around to look at him. “What?! How do I smell cute?”

They both looked at me then at one another. “You just do…” They said in unison.

I sat up and pushed the covers off me.

“You’re leaving already?” Cameron whined.

I crawled off the bed and retrieved my jeans that Cameron had discarded for me last night. “Yes.” I answered.

“But where are you going?” He asked again, in the same whining tone.

“Downstairs to salvage some kind of breakfast from the damned kitchen.”

James snorted. “Good luck.”

I threw them both one last glance before stepping out of the room and shutting the door behind me. Karla and Missy were in the hallway waiting in line for the bathroom.

Karla turned her messy headed self to me and yawned. “Tell Noah to get out of the bathroom. He’s been in there forever.”

“Yeah,” Missy chimed in, “we need to get ready too!”

I just looked at them. “I doubt he’s been in there forever, girls.”

Missy shifted her weight. “He went in there with Shane.”

I tipped my head to one side and looked at the bathroom door. “Okay…maybe they have been in there for a while.” I went up to the bathroom and opened the door. Shane jumped up from his position on the floor, wiping his mouth.

“Ever heard of knocking?” Noah asked very softly from his sitting position on the toilet.

I looked at them both. “That’s enough…there are other people who need to use the bathroom.”

Shane’s entire face and neck turned red and he rushed from the bathroom. Noah watched him go and sighed. “Guess I should go after him?” He asked.

I nodded. “Try to not do that in the bathroom again…please?”

He smiled at me and walked out of the bathroom. Whatever you want…

Thank you. I turned to Missy and Karla. “The bathroom is yours.”

They simply walked in, both of them complaining about Noah and his sexual preference. I rolled my eyes and went downstairs. Daniel was sitting on the couch, his hand held like a gun at the television, zapping the tv with little spurts of electricity. I walked up behind him and touched his shoulders. He jumped.

“You break it, you buy a new one.” I said.

“I don’t have a job.” He answered.

“Well then I guess you shouldn’t be doing that huh?” I walked into the kitchen where Malick was standing at the sink talking to Hera. She sneered at me as I walked up to them.

Malick turned to me. “Good morning, sleepy head.” He said with a smile.

I smiled back. “What’s wrong?”

His face paused and then he smiled again. “Nothing.”

“You’re a horrible liar.” I said flatly.

“McKalyn…”

“Malick, its too early in the morning for you to lie to me. I’m not really feeling all that patient so just tell me.”

Hera cut in before he could say anything. “Pack matters…nothing that really concerns you.” She glanced nervously from me to Malick as if she knew she had just taken a step too far. Malick, after a year, had matured quite a bit, and now all the other werewolves in the house had named him Pack leader. The problem was he didn’t even know what a Pack was until 6 months ago, and I didn’t really expect him to know what to do as Pack leader or how to act, and I had been right. Not long after being named Wolf-King, Damen, a leader of another Pack decided it was right to extend Hera to him, to show him how its done. The only thing with that was I hated Hera, and it was pretty obvious she hated me.

I looked at Hera. “Excuse me?”

“Not meaning to be disrespectful, McKalyn, but we’ve felt that maybe its time for the Pack to branch out from the family. I mean, who will really take us seriously when every other Pack considers us to be under the wing of the Strangers.”

“The who?” I asked.

Malick cut in. “A lot of the other Packs and Covens are starting to call us…you…our family, the Strangers.”

I blinked. “Its too early for this…” I hopped up in the counter and snagged a cup of coffee that had been left there in the morning rush.

“Try to understand where we’re coming from, McKalyn.” Malick said. “We just want to be”

“Independent?” I asked.

He looked at me for a moment. “Well yes.”

I nodded. “So what do you want from me?”

“I want to move the Pack, my Pack, out of the house.” Hera was about to say something but I put my hand up.

I blinked blankly at Malick. “You all can move out, but I have a firm warning for all of you. If any of you are found out…any of you…and I have to get involved, then its my Pack and I will handle it all accordingly. Do you understand?”

Malick swallowed hard. I could tell he was thinking about it. Hera in the meantime was looking back and forth between us both.

“We can do it Malick.” She chimed in. “I can help you! That’s why you brought me here to be your second in command!”

I leveled Malick with my gaze. “I’m not saying you’re not capable of being a great leader, but I want you consider the full responsibility of what you’re asking. Each one of your members, each one of their lives is your responsibility. Is that something you think you’re ready for?”

He looked from me to Hera’s expectant gaze. “No.” He finally said. “I’m sorry Hera, but this is just too big a step for now.”

Hera made a disappointed and angry noise in her throat. “I understand.” She said softly.

Malick nodded. “If you don’t mind,” he whispered, “I’m going to go lay down.”

I watched him leave and the minute he went upstairs Hera turned to me.

“You can’t keep him under your thumb forever.” She hissed.

I looked at her and smiled. “Don’t forget whose house your in, Hera. I’d hate for something unfortunate to happen to you.” She looked like she wanted to say something back, and I simply sipped from my coffee mug. She huffed and stormed off and I slouched on the counter. For some reason I felt like this was going to be a difficult day.

I continued to rummage around the kitchen, finding nothing but a banana and the cup of coffee I had been sipping from. The front door swung open and I stun around to see four red headed men standing in my living room. They all smiled at me and made they’re way into the kitchen. They were the McCluren brothers. Sons of the leader of the Pack that helped us get on our feet. In fact they had helped us get this house. The all sat at the island and watched me.

“That’s creepy, you know…” I whispered, taking a seat across from them.

Colin, the second youngest of the four was the first to speak. “Me Da sent us over here to check on ya.”

Did I forget to mention they were Irish?

“Did he?” I asked. “And how is he doing?”

“Oh ya know, busy with my mother.” I looked at Thomas as he spoke; he was the oldest of the four. “She’s having babies…again.”

“They must go at it like bunnies.” I said with a smirk, noticing that they all flinched when I said that.

“Oh, don’ bring eht up, alright?” Deb said. “That shite is fockin disgustin.”

I smiled at him. “My bad…”

“The real reason we came over today is Da wanted to invite yeh to dinner tonight.” That was Sammie. He was the youngest with bright red hair and freckles to match. But don’t let the innocent look fool you, he was a ladies man in his own way.

“That’s very sweet of him.”

“He can be sweet when he wants to be…” Thomas said with a smirk.

“I don’t know if I can make it though. I have to work.”

“Oh Da’s already taken care o’ tha’…” Deb said. “He called in fehr ya. Told ‘em you had some kinna flu er somethin…”

My jaw clenched. “That was sweet of him too.”

“Oh come on, McKalyn!” Sammie said. “You haven’ been to out house in a long time. Not to mention Da said he’s got somethin important to talk to ya about.”

Thomas, Deb, and Colin looked at Sammie with evil stares and I laughed.

“Did you let something out of the bag?” I asked.

“Da didn’ want us sayin anythin to ya about anythin.” Colin said. “He was wantin to tell ya himself.”

“Well, Sammie’s in the clear.” I said. “He didn’t really tell me anything.” Sammie looked relieved and I winked at him. “I’ll be over at 7, ok?”

Sammie jumped up and ran for the door. “I’m gonna go tell Da!”

I watched him leave and then turned back to the other three. “He really can be a kid sometimes huh?”

“Sometimes?!” Deb asked. “Try all the time an’ yeh’ll be right!”

Thomas got up from his seat. “I ‘ave to go. The wife will be callin in a minute and I gotta get home to her. It was nice talkin to ya, McKalyn. See ya tonight.”

I watched him leave and then turned back to Deb and Colin. Colin looked nervously back and forth between me and then decided it was time for him to leave to. “I’m just gonna go.” He said. He walked out the door and this time when I looked at Deb he had a smug smile on his face.

“You’re pretty.” He said.

I laughed. “You’re stupid.” I said back.

He nodded. “Sometimes.”

We sat in silence for a minute and then something from earlier came back to me. I looked at him. “Do I smell cute?”

He blinked. “What?”

“Do I smell cute?”

He blinked again and got off his seat, came around the island, and sniffed my neck. “Kinna, I guess…” He pulled back and looked me in the eye. “I want to kiss you.”

I pulled back a little. “No.”

He smiled. “How about…now?”

I laughed a little. “No.”

He came closer to me, but I didn’t move. Now were brushing against each other, and being this close to him was intoxicating. I wanted to wrap myself around him but I refrained.

He leaned down and brushed his lips against mine. My breath hitched in my throat. “Let me kiss you…” He breathed out.

I closed my eyes and the next thing I knew his arms were around me and his mouth was on mine. His kiss engulfed me and he claimed my mouth over and over again. I moaned and he lifted me up on the counter. I grabbed at his shoulders, trying to find something to steady myself but everything I touched was him…and he felt like the embodiment of heat and lust. He sucked my bottom lip and trailed down to my chin and my neck, one hand cradling the back o my head and the other following his mouth.

“We can’t do this here.” I gasped out.

He made a noise but didn’t stop.

I tugged his hair, pulling his head eye level with me. “Not here.”

He was gasping and the rapid rise and fall of his chest did things to the lower parts of me. He pulled back and I was thankful for the breathing room. He rubbed his mouth and chin roughly with his hands and then ran those same hands through his hair.

“What is it?” I asked.

He smiled at me. “It’s just really hard to sit hehr and no’ tough yeh when all I can think about is fockin ya inside out.”

I swallowed hard. “Is that what you’re really thinking about?” I asked.

He looked at me and I licked my lips and his pulse fluttered in his throat. “Don’ do that.”

“Do what?” I asked innocently.

“Don’ tease me…” His voice was coming out in a low growl.

“Do you want to know what I’m thinking about?”

He swallowed hard and then, “No.”

I smiled. “I think you do.”

He slowly moved away from me towards the door. “I’ll see yeh tonight!” He called as he left.
