Chap 2

Carla moaned as she slowly came too. Her head hurt and the only thing she was aware of was numbing cold. Her joints so stiff it hurt to move. She tried to open her eyes but with no luck. She concentrated on taking slow, deep breaths and straining her ears to try and hear what might be going on around her. It was deathly silent. She couldn’t hear a thing. She tried once again to open her eyes when finally she heard something. It was a faint whisper but she knew she heard it. She held her breath trying to see if she could catch it again.

Tasty!

They brought us a tasty!

She panicked, ‘The voices, am I dreaming? I can’t remember. This doesn’t feel like a dream.’ She thought. She managed to open her eyes a crack and started to look around. Everything was so dark, she could only make out some shapes. She ran her fingers over what she was laying on. She realized she was on some sort of stone floor.

Tasty!

Hunger!

Such a lovely tasty!

‘This doesn’t feel right, this feels too real! They sound closer then ever. I have to get out of here!’ She put all her strength into sitting up, her head started spinning and the urge to throw up hit her hard. Trying to get her stomach under control she started to look around now that her eyes had adjusted to the darkness. She was in some sort of stone room, it reminded her almost like a dungeon in some medieval castle. She managed to drag herself to her feet and make her way to a wall before her legs gave out. Cold, this room was freezing, the wall she held herself up on felt like it was made of ice instead of stone.

“Carla? Carla, can you hear me?”

She jerked her head up and decided that that was a very bad idea, she felt like her head was about to fall off. She noticed a faint light coming from what must be the door.

“Hello?! Is someone there?” She called out, her voice cracking.

“Carla! Are you in there?”

‘That voice,’ she thought, ‘it’s the man’s voice from my dream.’

Just then the door opened and in floated in bright light. Carla winced as it burned and made her eyes water.

“Oh, thank the Gods. Carla! I’ve been waiting for this day for years!”

“Waiting for what? Who are you? Where am I?” She said while blinking. All she could make out was the outline of a tall seemingly well built man.

“There’s no time for questions right now. We have to get out of here before they get loose. Already their chains are weakening. Come, let’s get moving and I’ll explain as much as I am able once we are free of this place.”

“Now just wait one second! You expect me to just come with you?! I have no idea who you are, or if I can even trust you! How do I know your not the one who put me here, that your not going to hurt me or murder me?”

“Trust me, my dear. I am one of the few in this world that do not wish you harm. It is my duty to guard and protect you. Now if you have anymore questions I ask that you respectfully hold them until we are at a safe distance from here.”

The man walked up to her and she was able to clearly see him for the first time. She was struck by how handsome he was, he was almost pretty. He had classic Greek features with full sensual lips. He was lean but very solidly built. Midnight black hair tied at the nap of his neck and what held her the most where his eyes. They were a rich honey color, bright and almost seemed to glow. He wrapped a soft cloak around her shoulders and took her hand into his much larger calloused one.

“Come, please. We must get moving if we are going to make out before night fall.” Something in his eyes, she felt like she knew him from somewhere and not just as the voice from her dream. She oddly felt like she could trust him.

“Alright, but why by nightfall?” Just then she heard scratching and screaming on the other side of the wall.

NOOO!

TASTY!

LEAVE US THE TASTY!

She jumped and her blood ran cold. The strange man started to half lead and half drag her toward the door.

“Because, My dear, that’s when they are able to break loose. Would you really like to stay for that?” That was when she didn’t care who or where this man came from, she’d rather take her chances with him.
