A/N: Sorry it’s taken me this long to update. Truth was I didn’t really know if I should continue with this story or not, but I got some positive feed back so I’m going to try and keep on writing. Without further delay here’s the next chapter!
A young woman sat at her vanity staring at her reflection. What she saw was a beauty. Her thick raven curls framed her face and cascaded past the small of her back. Porcelain skin made bright blue eyes seem even brighter. Her body was that of a human with womanly curves that didn’t overwhelm her slim figure. Yes, a beauty is what most would have deemed her, if they had been allowed to lay eyes upon her. The only non-human part of her body was her wings. They looked like the wings of a butterfly with their black lines tracing beautiful designs and blue coloring. They were the feature that made the girl look exotic.
She continued to stare at herself when she heard her bedroom door open. She didn’t have to look to know who it was; it was her caretaker Yozua Okata. He was male of the Kryian race possessing green scale like skin, blue greasy hair and yellow teeth. It was easy to tell that in his youth he may have been considered handsome, but now from his appearance you could tell he was fat, old, and lazy. He wore a thick scarlet gold trimmed robe made of the rare Earth silk to try and hide his body’s thick build though it did no good. When Yozua spotted the girl at he smiled showing all of his yellow teeth.
“Aria. You grow more beautiful every day.” He said in a small congested voice as he walked over to her. Aria stood and went to embrace the Kryian only because it was expected of her. The young woman tried to avoid physical contact with her caretaker as much as possible. “You are indeed worth all the expense it has taken in order to care for you.” He told her sitting down on one of the couches as Aria sat on a chair across from him.
She still remained silent knowing fully well that he wasn’t about to give her a chance to say anything until he was done. “Do you know how much money I have spent making sure you grew up healthy and beautiful little bird? I’ll tell you it was more than anyone else would have spent. But that’s because they would never see you for the treasure you are. Papa Yozua knew what a rare gem you were from the moment he set eyes on you. So he took you in and made you this wonderful little paradise to live in. Don’t you think that was generous of him?” he asked her.
Aria nodded with smile and gave him the answer she knew he was wanting, “Of course it was. Only Papa Yozua would have ever taken such good care of me.” She told him. It was true that she was well taken care of. She always ate hearty meals to keep her healthy and happy. She had a little garden outside her bedroom so she could have had fresh air and sunlight. Though she never stayed out long enough to burn her smooth white skin. That would make Yozua very angry. Whenever she showed the slightest sign of fever or if she received even the smallest of paper cuts a doctor was called right away to make sure she recovered quickly.
Yozua nodded and went on, “How many would have made sure you were educated? None! You are, after all, a female. But I made sure you were taught properly.” Again the girl nodded for this was also true. She had spent many hours on her computer learning her lessons by chatting with her tutors and reading the different materials they gave her. Not only that, but she lacked books to read, for reading was one was her greatest joys. When all was said and done Aria could fluently speak five of the seven major languages of the universe, had abundant knowledge of history, the written word, and mathematics. Very few could afford that kind of education.
“How many would have made sure you were comfortable the way I have?” He asked beckoning to her. She went to sit next to him giving him another nod. Her room was big and luxurious; it was filled to the brim with different couches and chairs to keep her comfortable. Her clothes were all beautiful and easy to move in. On her big canopy bed was dozens of pillows stuffed with the softest of feathers, blankets made of the smoothest silks, and a white fluffy stuffed bear named Tiki.
The only thing she lacked was companionship. The only physical contact she had beside her caretaker and the doctor was a maid who brought her meals. The maid never said more than a simple morning greeting before swiftly cleaning the previous meals dishes, making the bed, and taking away the dirty clothes. It was the maid who told the younger girl why she was kept in solitude. She knew what she was going to be used for she by the time she was thirteen and starting her woman’s bleeding time. After that her teachers added extra lessons telling her everything she would need to know about her future role in life.
“Yes, I have spent quiet a bit to make sure you grew up… perfect.” He said looking her over. “Now it’s time for my investments to pay off.” It was with those simple words that she knew her whole life would change forever.
“In one week I’m having my annual sale, and you my beautiful jewel will be the highlight of the bidding. I can’t wait to see the price you’ll fetch me.” He smiled cheerfully as he stood up. “I just wanted you to know that your time is coming.” Yozua gave her a kiss on the forehead then left the room.
Aria walked outside and looked up at the night sky. She wondered if one of the stars she was looking at was the home of her future master. Her future was staring at her with eyes not yet known to her. The words of the maid echoed her mind, “You are a Breeder. Barely above the station of slave. One day the master will sell you to the highest bidder. Your new master will mate with you and you will bear his children. The reason you’ve had no companionship is so the master can sell you for a higher price than a girl who has been touched by males. Mate then give birth. Mate than give birth. That will be the endless circle of your life until the day you add your spirit to the starry sky. Such is the life of a Breeder.”
Aria sighed still looking at the stars, “Such is the life of a Breeder.”
A/N: Okay…any input you have is always welcome. I’m already starting on the next chapter, so it should out within the next week or so. Thanks for reading.
