Prologue
If the world needs to know anything about me it is this story. My life up to this point had been almost useless. I had even considered surrendering myself to any one of the Holy Men wandering about; before this event I mean.
I suppose before anything else is mentioned, I should tell you about myself. My name is Ambrogio Callisto. My blood origin is Northern Italy from the city of Aquileia. I am eighteen hands from crown to foot. My eyes have been described to me as a "terrifying blue", my hair is tightly curled, a beautiful golden color and falls to the middle of my back. My face has been described as entrancing, delicately featured, but piercing. My body is much the same, but much more cut. I have a muscular form, but not in the way the Northlander's do. A wispy sort of muscularity. My normal apparel consists of a front-laced white blouse, black cotton breeches, a heavy leather belt, black leather boots, a white or crimson cravat, and a heavy dark colored cloak.
At this point, year 1512, I am two-hundred and fifty-five years of age. Oh, I am also a cursed being; cursed to feed on the blood of other animals to sustain life. My heart beats slowly and breathing is a nicety which is not actually necessary, most of the time. My skin has turned pale and my teeth, canines in particular, have malformed to provide assistance in the busy work that is keeping myself alive. I have been cursed for two-hundred and twenty-seven years; some say I was on birth.
Now that you have a better understanding of me, let me tell you the story I had intended. It's about the only person I had ever had meaningful relations with. His name was Raphael Amadeus, a paladin of the Lord.
