All eyes were fixed on the fallen elf as she gasped desperately for breath. Her husband’s countenance read terror and confusion as he and a friend lifted her and carried her away toward Linidor’s infirmary. In the gathered crowd, people whispered and gawked. “What ails her?” one questioned.
“I know not,” replied another.
“She is but young, recently married to the warrior…”
“She should be healthy.”
“Aye.”
“But who is she; where is her family?”
“Nobody knows.”
