Okay here is the official chapter one of Shadow and I, I wasn't planning on updating so soon, but I had some free time. Anyway, this chapter won't be written like a fairytale like the last chapter, it will most likely be written in my regular way.

The winds blew angerly through the grassy field in the first island of Terra Feld, making Kalai's shirt billow around him as he stood stiffly. The field seemed to meld right into the shore, as if someone had scooped up the edges and dumped sand there. The sun made the sand unbareable to stand on, so Kalai kept his distance as he watched tourists rush about the area. The wind kept the temperature from rising too high, but also caused sand to fly up every so often. Kalai's skin was tanned from the sun's rays and his blue eyes sparkled in the light, hidden partialy behind his unruley short, black hair. He wore a loose navy blue shirt, a pair of black shorts and sandles.
~Kalai, you should not dwell on this island for too long. I can feel the chill coming closer, it's unsafe to remain here.~ Kalai's shadow raised itself half off the ground and formed a body, a deep voice resonating from it's form. Kalai sighed deeply and took a last look at the ocean, then he stepped into his shadow. A purple crystal shone from the shadow's chest and they both disappeared into the shadow, the shadow itself evaporating.

The beautiful beach of Terra Feld's first island began to freeze over, a cold wind sweeping over the land. Within a few hours the entire island was a solid mass of ice, the trees, grass and people frozen along with it. Boots clinked as they made contact with the ice, and a dark figure with black hair and violet glowing eyes, stood alive in the wasteland. A green crystal hung from her neck, shining dimly as she approached the shore.
"So he was here, the residue is only a few hours old, I may be able to catch him this time." The women disappeared in a flurry of frozen leaves, only her footprints left of any trace of her.

The streets of Palmera were busy and crowded, the sun shining brightly overhead as Kalai entered the city. His shadow seemed to dissapate and form into a dark cloak around him, hiding his face from prying eyes. He quickly made his way into a nearby alleyway as his crystal glowed brightly, his hand hiding it from view. A person suddenly shouted from the main street, leaves floating down the road. Kalai remained hidden, watching the new arrival from a safe distance. She turned towards a random man and grabbed him ruffly, holding him above the ground and face to face with her.
"Where is Kalai Okasta?!" She growled out, the man trembled and tried to free himself hastily. She snorted and tossed him into a fruitstand, the stand breaking apart and it's contents rolling about. Kalai sighed angerly but didn't move, he tucked his crystal into his cloak.
Shadow! We have to do something, she's becoming more dangerous...
~Hush master Kalai, she will not kill anyone. She cannot afford to kill anyone when she is already being hunted for previous trouble.~
I know but... The shadow covered Kalai's mouth, forming a cloth to keep him from speaking further. Kalai watched for a few minutes more before he turned and headed further into the alley, dogs gathered in some areas, garbage cans were tipped and the garbage spread around. Kalai reached a deadend, and he eyed the high wall, judging the distance before he touched his crystal lightly. His legs were surrounded in a purple light and he lept easily to the top of the wall, then down the other side. The alley on the other side was alot more clean, it lead directly into a street by the ocean. Kalai ran out into the empty street and toward the shore, pulling off the cloak and grinning madly at the sight of the sea. He could see the nearby island of Shoran from where he was and he quickly seated himself beneath a palm tree, watching the waves lap at the sand.
~Kalai? Why are we here, we cannot afford to stay put for long or this place will end up like the last~ Kalai shrugged and watched the sun as it began to set.
~The girl is catching up as well, this is not a good time to decide for a vacation..~
"Shut up Shadow." The shadow jerked at his tone and hid itself as Kalai's shadow again, rippling in irritation.
"I know I'm being irrisponsible, but I just need to rest for a little while, besides, I didn't get to go on the beach last time." Shadow rippled lightly but said nothing, and Kalai nodded to himself. Kalai held the crystal up and watched the sun shine through it, making patterns on his shirt.
------zomg flashback------------
Kalai was a small boy, dressed in a pair of black shorts and a black t-shirt. He was running down a long hallway, at the far end he burst through a door, grinning madly as he hopped over to the center of the room. The room was cluttered with equipment, cabinents and it has large windows at the far end. There was a pedistal made of metal in the middle with four crystals; one was blue, one was green, one was yellow and one was red. They were held behind a bubble of glass and sat in individual glass cases. Kalai hovered there for a few more moments before the door banged open and he quickly hid himself behind a nearby cabinent.
A tall man and an average sized women entered the room, they both wore lab coats with white clothes beneath. The man had long silver hair, yet he didn't appear much older than at least 20 and he had ice cold blue eyes. The women had rich brown hair that was short and curly and lovely hazelnut eyes. The two people were arguing heatedly as they walked quickly towards the glass case with the crystals, the man holding a metal case in his hand.
"You cannot really expect this to work, and even if it does, than what? We can't use it and we can't sell it! It would be much to unstable and dangerous!" The man glared at the women and pressed his hand to the glass, it dissolving after a second or two. He opened the case and it held a purple crystal and a black crystal, he pulled them both out and held them directly above the other crystals. Suddenly the room was filled with darkness and Kalai stood up weakly, his palm burned and he felt tears welling up. Someone switched the light back on and the women shreiked, the man looked over and paled.
"Kalai, oh dear god..." She rushed over and gripped him to her chest, sobbing heavily. The man walked over to them, examining Kalai's palm. There was a large cut in the skin, the edges pulsing and purple.
-----------end flashback-----------
Kalai sighed deeply and dropped the crystal onto his lap, he couldn't remember who the people were, or what had happened after that. He wasn't really sure if it was even a memory or just a dream from when he was younger. All he knew was that he had in fact seen that lab a few years later, only it had been filled with dust and everything had been destroyed. Someone had not wantted whatever was there to get out, only Kalai was afraid it might have.

Yay chapter one is finished *cheers* wasn't very long because of my busier hours due to amny things such as graduation and such. Also just to let you know, the time is kind of like ours right now, modern but a little more futuristic in some places and then some downright old. It really depends ont he place they are at, and also I will hopefully have some links up soon to some maps I'm drawing of the world and towns/cities. Maybe character sketches too~
