Chapter II : Interruptions

“ARGH. WHAT IS THIS?”

It was lunch time, and Destiny was still fussing over the magazine pictures to her best friend and a few others that sat in their table, most of them were girls. One of them took away the magazine, raising both eyebrows, giving the look of approval.

“I think he’s cute.”

“THAT’S NOT THE POINT!” She snapped, glaring at the girl who just then suddenly dropped the magazine onto the table, holding both her hands up in defeat.

“Okay. Okay. Chill out.”

The dark haired girl frowned, staring down at her lunch. To be honest, she didn’t know why was so upset with the whole fact that Devon was some model or whatever he was. She didn’t want to know and she didn’t care.

Standing up suddenly, Destiny shoved the rest of the sandwich into her mouth, and spoke to her friends through the mouthful of bread, “Aye um oeng uo oh uume.” She frowned then turned away from the group, throwing her paper bag into the trash bin and made her way out of the cafeteria.

“What did she say?”

Andrea smiled faintly watching her friend, then turned towards the girl, “’I am going to go home.’”

Still fuming at the thought, she drove back home, speeding through the red lights and never stopping at the stop signs. Whatever. She could pay off the tickets anytime. It’s not like her family was poor after all.

There was another car sitting out in front of her house, but it must have been him. It was the same car, same color after all. Him being her father’s life partner. Yes, her father was gay. She didn’t mind at all, she liked her father’s life partner. He’s a nice guy. The man was going to yell at her for skipping class, but oh well; she wasn’t in a good mood anyway.

Pulling up into the drive way, she stepped out of the car and took out the keys, slamming the door shut.

Destiny sighed, running a finger through her long hair as she opened the front door, “Joooe!” She shouted out, expecting to see a man stumble down the stairs in robes. He always came to their house and take showers, cook dinner, and all those.. motherly things.

No one answered though.

Shrugging, she dropped her backpack by the stairs and walked into the kitchen. Destiny froze. Her blue eyes widened as she saw the man that she slept with last night, standing before her. “YOU!” Her comment came out as a sneer.

Devon raised an eyebrow, smiling faintly, “Hello to you, too.”

“What are you doing here?”

“You left your purse at Richard’s yesterday.” The model lifted up a black laced bag in between his finger, raising an eyebrow.

“How did you find my home?”

“Drivers license.”

“Typical.” Destiny made her way over towards him, dropping her keys on the kitchen counter as she went over to snatch the purse away, but he pulled back, frowning slightly. “What?”

“What happened to the sarcastic, sexy girl I met yesterday?”

“She’s in a foul mood.” The dark haired girl reached up and took the purse away from him, digging through it to make sure nothing was stolen. “Well, thanks, you can go now.”

“Hey, I drove an hour to give this back to you, and all I get is thanks?”

“Uh, do you want a cookie or something?” She placed the purse next to her keys, looking around slightly uncomfortable, “How did you get in?”

“Some guy opened the door. Wasn’t your dad though. He’s gone, said he had some things to do.” Devon shrugged, “So… Where’s my thank you gift?” The older man grinned, raising an eyebrow as he strolled over towards the younger girl.

Destiny glanced up at him with those beautiful blue eyes, blinking a few times. For a moment, she had no idea what he was talking about until there was that obvious look on his face. Sex. That’s what he wanted. Of course, men like him…

It wouldn’t hurt… one more time. It felt good, too.

She looked away from him, actually considering sleeping with him once more before she pulled away from the tempting offer. “You never told me that you were a model.”

His brown eyes blinked a few times in confusion, not sure where that comment came from, “Oh,” Devon laughed, raising an eyebrow, “Well, we were so caught up in our… little act yesterday. Plus,” He paused, placing his hands on either side of the counter, trapping Destiny, “You never asked me.”

“DESTINY!”

The both of them looked at each other for a moment, wide-eyed before Devon finally pulled away and Destiny moved over towards the refrigerator, pulling out a bottle of cool water. She turned to face towards the man that entered the kitchen, a frown set upon his face. “Yes?”

“You’re skipping school again?” He placed his hands on his hips. That was Joe. Everything about him, other than his looks, said woman. “How many times did I –” The man’s frown disappeared as he noticed that the handsome man from earlier was still around, “Oh!” He smiled now, “I’m so sorry. I forgot you were here. That is so embarrassing, I didn’t mean to act like that, ha-ha, and you see, our Destiny, skips school so much, it’s unbearable. She’s not going to have a good future if she continues on with this.”

She rolled her eyes, scoffing after taking a sip of her water, “Joe, you don’t need to tell some stranger about my life story.” Destiny glanced over at Devon as he merely smiled at the man. “He was getting ready to go anyway.”

“No, I’m not.”

“Yes, you are.”

“No, because Joe, here, invited me to dinner,” He raised an eyebrow, giving the teenager a cocky grin as she merely sneered at him.

“That’s why, girly,” Her father’s life partner walked over towards her, “He told me that he drove an hour all the way down here, so, I invited him to dinner tonight. Don’t worry. Why don’t you two go upstairs and chat while I get it ready?”

“But.. it’s only one.” Destiny blinked several times.

“A perfect dinner takes time, child.” He smacked her bottom and shooed the both of them out. “Have fun now,” Then slammed the kitchen door on the two of them.

The girl couldn’t help but sigh, shaking her head. She glanced over at Devon, “You’re not going upstairs.”

“Why? Afraid that you’ll scream like last night?”

“No because you’ll…” Her voice trailed off as the red in her cheeks grew darker. Destiny had no comeback to his sarcasm. “Damn you. You stay down here.” She sneered once more before she ran up the stairs, two steps at a time.

There was a slam from her room as she closed the door, staring at her stuffed toys in fury. How dare he act that way towards her! That jerk! He has no right barging into her house. But then… Her eyes softened, as she pulled her long hair over a shoulder. He did bring her purse back after all. It was nice of him.

She shook her head, pushing all that to the side as she jumped onto her queen sized bed, grabbing her pillow and hugging it tightly. She stared over at her fuzzy bear toy and sighed, “I thought it was only going to be some one night stand and never see him again…”

Destiny groaned turning away from the bear, just staring off into space.

She was so much in to her deep thought that when the door opened to her door, she didn’t even realize it. Not even when there was weight placed down on her mattress. Not until there was a whistle that made her jump. “Your room is so girly.” Devon grinned as Destiny literally hopped out of her bed. “Reminds me of my little sister’s room.”

“I thought I told you not to come up stairs!” She snapped, throwing a toy at his head.

“Hey! That’s mean!” He held the back of his head as he glared at the girl sitting on the other side of the bed, “You should be nice to your guests!”

“Who invited you anyway?” She threw another toy at him.

“I was trying to be nice and give you something that was obviously important to you,” Devon frowned, catching the toy then launched at her, pinning her down onto the bed.

Destiny screamed, though not being able help but laugh at the playful man. Her laughter died down when she noticed his stare.

He sighed, shaking his hazel hair from side to side, raising an eyebrow, “How come I’ve never noticed how beautiful your eyes are?” His voice was no more than a whisper. Devon lifted a hand, brushing a strand of hair out of her pale face, raising an eyebrow. The older man lowered himself, his lips pressed up against her soft ones.

Closing her eyes, she parted her lips, accepting his kiss. Her arms snaked around his neck, pulling herself up to him, her shoulders slightly lifted from the mattress. She moaned into his mouth, biting at his upper lip as he kissed at her lower lip. “I thought you didn’t want me up here…” He whispered as he kissed the corner of her lip.

She turned her head towards the side as he gently bit at her ear lobe – a gasp came from Destiny. “Mmmm… I… Aaah!” She hugged him tightly as he sucked on her lobe, her breast arching into his chest. “Nyeh…” She didn’t have anything to say.

Chuckling, he let his hands roam all over her body, the top lifted high above her beasts, her black laced bra from yesterday contrasted against her pale skin. “I like how you.. wear the same things.” He looked up at her with those sexy chocolate eyes, but she paid no mind. Devon pulled her bra over her breasts, his index finger tracing the soft mounds.

“I was too tired to do take a shower or anything… when I got back home.” She raised an eyebrow, finally looking down at him as he wrapped his mouth around her nipple, sucking on it gently before pulling away, and blowing on her wet mound softly. Destiny sighed, clenching her jaw.

“Someone’s a dirty girl…” Devon smiled faintly, his hands tracing down towards her miniskirt, slipping under, “Aw, you’re wearing panties this time…” The man chuckled, raising an eyebrow, his index finger slipping under her panties.

“DESTINY!”

She jumped once more as Devon quickly pulled his hands out of her, and as she fixed her clothes, the two of them sitting up, her legs crossed over the other as the two of them feigned a conversation.

“-ically I work on the weekdays at the…” The door opened and their eyes turned to look over at the man who wore a pink apron. Devon raised an eyebrow, smiling faintly at the man as if nothing happened.

“Destiny, I need you to go to the grocery and buy some things.”

The dark haired girl nodded, slipping off her bed. Her blue orbs glanced over at the model for a moment before stepping out of the room. He soon followed behind Joe who suspiciously made his way down the stairs but from the looks of it, he brushed it off and a smile appeared on his lips.

“If you’d like, you could have your friend join you.” He glanced over at the model as he smiled faintly. Destiny could tell that Joe was attracted to Devon, which was oddly entertaining.

“If he wants,” She managed to mutter, grabbing her purse and keys while Joe threw a good fifty bucks to the girl.

Glancing over at the model, she raised an eyebrow. He smiled, following behind her as she made her way out of the house. “You’re going to let a girl drive?” She opened her car doors with a beep of the button, and Devon merely shrugged, “Alright…”

He slipped into the passenger’s seat, slipping on the seatbelt. Destiny stuck the key into the ignition, glancing over at the man who sat next to her, looking around at the car. There were little pictures of anime characters and stickers stuck all over the place. There were pictures of her and her best friend hanging from the rear view mirror. Devon smiled, and then leaned in, taking another picture – it was her school parking ID. “Chaseton Heights High School?”

“Uuh…” She took that away from him, slipping it off the rear view mirror and stuffed it into the car compartment, “That’s from a year back,” it was, she was able to drive when she was a sophmore though, she didn’t quite have her license.

Devon had yet to learn that she was still a high school student.

Buckling herself up, she backed out of the drive way. Halfway through the drive way, her blue eyes traced over towards the brown ones that stared at her and Devon leaned in, his lips claiming hers.

Not expecting a sudden move, she pushed down on the breaks, and pulled back from him, her eyes wide. “Whoa! What was that?”

The older man shrugged as if nothing had happened, “I don’t know, it was just a kiss.”

Giving him a frown, Destiny turned away from Devon and focused on the driving once more. She couldn’t help but blush at the thought of him kissing her. It was as if they were a couple – or something like that.

It’d been a while since Destiny really had a boyfriend. She’s been dating ever since she first liked a boy. That was probably back when she was in the sixth grade. Her last real boyfriend was perhaps when she was in her freshman year in high school, which was probably merely two years ago.

Reaching the grocery store, she pulled into a parking space, and stepped out. Devon followed closely behind her, never saying another word. The dark-haired girl glanced back at the taller man every now and then, acknowledging him.

She didn’t even know why he was there. They didn’t even know each other.

So, being straightforward as she normally is, she asked him, “Why did you come anyway?”

“To bring you back the purse.”

Frowning, she turned to look at him once more, “Well, duh.” Perhaps it was a rhetorical question, “I could have driven there anyway. Makes no difference.”

“Save you the trip.” He smiled, taking the cart away from her and pushed through the meat section, “So, what do we need?”

Men, Destiny sighed inwardly, running a finger through her silky hair, looking around at the meat products. “He said we’re going to have steak, so beef, I guess.. then we need to get- I need to get some… vegetables.”

The dark-haired girl blinked a few times as she looked around the produce section, her eyes scanning the frozen meat that laid out before her, before choosing one of the cow meat and threw it into the tin cart.

“Is that your uncle? Joe?” He raised an eyebrow, pushing the cart away from the meat section and into the vegetables aisle.

Not being able to help but laugh, Destiny shook her head. “No.”

With a confused look, he replied, “Then what?”

“He’s my father’s partner.”

“He does enterprising?”

“Nope. Life partner.”

Devon’s eyes widened and his brows rose, “REALLY?” He sounded like a child asking her in that tone of voice, “Wow.” Now he felt a tad be uncomfortable being around the man alone in the house. No wonder all that time, he felt as if there were eyes on him. The model scratched his brown hair. “That… That’s very…”

Shrugging, Destiny smiled, “It’s nice though. I love my family.” She grabbed a patch of broccoli and placed it into a plastic bag before tossing that into the cart as well.

It was almost an hour later before Devon and Destiny were standing in line at the check out area. “That’ll be seventy-nine dollars and eight-one cents.” A middle aged woman glanced over at the cash register, smiling at the handsome couple.

A sigh came from Destiny, as she was digging through her purse, hoping to find at least thirty extra bucks. She jumped when she felt an arm wrap around her waist, “I got it.” He said, as he smiled down at the teenager, pulling out his wallet and took out a fifty. After paying, he took the change and grabbed the heavier items, leaving the lighter ones for the girl to carry.

Quickly catching up to him, she thanked him, “I’ll pay you back when we get home. I have money there.”

“Don’t worry about it.”

“Of course I have to worry about it!” She huffed, “I can’t owe random people that I don’t know.”

“Well, you can always pay me back another waaaay,” Devon glanced down at the shorter girl, grinning widely.

Blushing, she replied, “I believe that is called prostitution,” Destiny raised a brow and unlocked the trunk and stuck the plastic bag into the small compartment. She shut it when Devon placed the remaining bags in and moved over to the driver’s side. “Last time I checked, it was illegal.”

Laughing now, the brunette buckled his seat belt, “Well, who said sex? I was thinking, perhaps Friday? Dinner and movies, your treat?”

Her face grew even redder. How could she have known he wasn’t talking about sex? Of the two days they’ve known each other all they did was kiss, make-out, and hell, had sex. “Moovies…” Destiny whispered under her breath, placing her hand on the steering wheel, “I… don’t know…”

“Just a one time thing,” He replied – it was as if he was pleading, as if he WANTED to go out on a date with her. If it was even considered a DATE at all.

Giving the man an odd look, Destiny shook her head and smiled, “Fine. You have to pick me up at six though.” She smiled once more to herself at the thought of Friday.

It’d be a fun experience.

“Ugh, Dad! Can we at least talk about this when people AREN’T around?” Destiny stabbed her broccoli, stuffing it into her mouth, “Oye reen rits umbarusing enuf.”

“Don’t speak with your mouth full,” The man frowned, pointing a very threatening fork at his daughter, “Besides, we’re all very close with each other,” He glanced over at Devon, “I think it’s quite alright.” He lowered his fork, taking a bit e of the steak Joe made earlier, “It’s very nice, Joe,” Destiny’s father smiled at the man sitting across from the table, “Thank you.”

Quickly finishing her dinner, Destiny stood up and took her place over to the sink, announcing that she was full. She ran it under hot water, washing it with soap. Just as she finished washing her dish, Devon came walking in, bumping her over towards the sight. He smiled faintly at her, as Destiny quickly leaned in, washing her hands under the hot water, getting rid of the soap.

“Don’t forget our date on Friday.” He grinned, splashing some water onto her face.

A disgusted scoff came his way as she wiped away the water, ‘Well, that’s if I’m working night shift.”

His soft chocolate eyes met hers, “Oh? And where is it that you work?”

“At an entertainment center,” Destiny smiled widely, “Kinda like Chucky ‘E’ Cheese, but bigger, and much more interesting.”

“What is it called?”

“Curious bugger, aren’t you?” Destiny placed her hands on her hips, tilting her head towards the side, and answered him, “Scatz.”

“What in the hell kind of name is ‘Scatz’?” The model laughed, running a hand through his hazel hair, “well, maybe I’ll pop in and visit, play a few games, hang out, then we can go on our little date.”

“Date?”

Their eyes tore away from each others as they looked over at his father as he entered the room, carrying the empty plates. Joe smiled faintly as the two younger kids walked away from the sink, giving the two older men space.

“Yeah, he asked me out on a date, because I owe –“

Not finishing her sentence, Devon pushed her gently, raising an eyebrow, “Because I’m only here for a month, so I asked her to show me around.” He smiled at the girl’s father, or how he could call – Doctor James, though the man insisted on being called Ron.

“Uuh, yeah…” Destiny furrowed her brows, looking a tad bit confused, but played along to the game.

“I’m actually from California, but I’m down here to hang out with Richard since his wedding is coming up soon. That and I have some photos to shoot down here.” The brunette grinned, as the man nodded.

They knew he was a model. Destiny announced it to Joe and her father – as if she was proud to find a man that was as good looking as him. Though, they weren’t QUITE going out. They weren’t even friends, actually. More or less like acquaintances.

“That’s very nice of you, Destiny.” Her father smiled at his daughter, “Now, you two run along, Joe and I will finish the rest of this.”

The two younger ones, walked out of the kitchen, sitting down onto the sofa in the living room. Destiny sat down in the furthest corner while Devon, knowing that she’d be slightly uncomfortable, sat right next to her. He grinned, raising a brow as she looked away purposely.

A few seconds later, Destiny turned back towards him to see him still staring. “What?”

“You’re so cute.”

“And you’re so annoying. Have you heard of a personal bubble space?”

“Nope.” The man only grinned even more, but Destiny frowned.

“You are such a kid.”

“And you need to lighten up.”

“I am light –“ The rest of her words were muffled as his lips were pressed up against hers once more. She pushed him away, huffing, and her cheeks puffing up as they began to tint pink. She made her seem like it her was first time getting kissed. “YOU!” She said out loud, just like earlier when she first encountered him, “You-”

“Me, what?” Devon grinned, his face only inches away from hers, “I like the way your lips feel, they’re so…” The man let his voice trail off as he planted his lips against hers once more. This time, Destiny reacted to the kiss. A chuckle sounded as he pulled away, “See? You like it, too.”

“No, I don’t.” The girl looked away, crossing her leg over the other, pouting just a bit.

“You’re so cute.” He laughed. Devon leaned in half-way, pausing, waiting for her to move in. And she did.

“And you’re not.” Her eyes stared down at his lips after she broke the kiss.

The man grinned, leaning in closer towards her, his brown eyes locking with hers, once they trailed up. “But I’m hot.”

He was so full of it. He had no reason to not be though; Devon was good looking – for the hundredth time. The model smiled, biting his lower lip.

“No one’s going to want to kiss that bruised lips.” Destiny frowned, looking at him pointingly.

“You do.” His grin was now stretched from ear to ear. She really needed to find some comment that wouldn’t get him to retort. Devon leaned in once more, his hands reaching to cup her face, stroking her cheeks. “You know you like my kisses.” His voice dropped as their lips grew closer and closer.

Her breath quickened.

Why does he make me so nervous?

She closed her blue eyes, just waiting for his lips upon hers once more. She had to admit it. Destiny really liked his kisses.

“DESTINY!”
