Something is amiss

Netta was frantic. Her younger sister was gone so were all of her clothes and her money like she had just disappeared last night. How was she going to tell her parents and how would her siblings react? What about Nate he and Cait had been so close. But wait not recently they hadn’t not since they’d spent the night in the loft. In the months since then they hadn’t said a single word to one another. And she had been so sick recently. No she thought “No” she said aloud. That couldn’t have happened. Could it?
“Nate” she called franticly running down the stairs.
“What?” He called back as she suddenly appeared at the door of his room.
“I have to talk to you alone and now” She said pulling him down the hall and outside. She ignored the cold wet pull of the wind on her skirt as she marched him up to the barn. “What happened the night you and Cait spent here?” He made a sound as if to protest but she cut him off. “I need you to tell me. She’s gone. She took all her things and I think I know why but you have to tell me what happened.”
He stood still for a second staring at her obviously wondering if he should tell her. He was worried though that Cait was gone and that won over in the end. “You know she and I have always been close but we just got carried away.” He tried to explain.
Netta knew what had happened now, and she knew her parents couldn’t find out. Cait would have to tell them in her own time, but for now they had to come up with a plan to send them looking in the wrong places, they had to act dumb. As far as any one was concerned they knew nothing at all and were crying their eyes out. Nate didn’t know everything either so Netta decided he didn’t need to. She suspected Cait didn’t want him to know or she would have told him.
She told her parents that she hadn’t seen Cait and by dinner the whole family knew she was gone. Her mother called everyone she could think of all the neighbors and all Cait’s friends. No one had seen her.
