Chapter 1
Chapter 1
In the next day they slept the hours of light to be awaken in the night like the creatures of dark they were. Apparently Alex was staying in a cheap motel and they would go to him. They needed privacy to talk but Chagara did not want the other vampire knowing their whereabouts. The two vampires lurked in shadows and approached their destination carefully seeking signs from possibly enemies. They sneaked in the hotel from the back door and glided through the hallways till they found the right door. The door opened silently and Alex came to view. He looked like a young man with chestnut brown hair and soft hazel eyes. He was medium height, muscled and dressed in dark green cargo pants and t-shirt of lighter green. He was not really handsome or even beautiful but cute with his eyes lighting with joy and his face beseeching if you liked that sort of thing Chagara mused. Figures, his childe always did have a soft spot for strays. He let them in and Chagara looked around in the dingy room noting the made bed and a small table. Not much room to sit but he would stand anyway. Alex looked both happy and wary seeing them. He smiled at Lauren and greeted her and eyed Chagara. The elder vampire turned to look at him impassively and practically sneered the younger one. This youngling was no competition to him; he was probably not even hundred. Passing fun, Lauren would get bored to him. Chagara stared him down letting his eyes became golden and growled. Alex dropped to his knees and his eyes widened in fear. The demon in him surging forward and recognizing his authority.
“We greet you old one.” The more powerful, gravelly voice of the demon answered.
Chagara smirked, if there was one thing he couldn’t stand it was when the vampires these days ignored the etiquette and had no respect for their elders.
“It is good to see not everyone has forgotten the ways of our kind.” The elder vampire answered directing the answer to the demon.
Alex seemed to recover somewhat and muttered a hasty apology. “Forgive me old one, most vampires I have encountered did not have the power I sense in you or were nearly as old.”
Well the youngling did have a point. Most vampires did not after all live as long as he had the ones the boy had encountered were probably few hundred at most. Chagara quickly grew tired and demanded to know about the situation.
Alex hastened to explain. “I had rather nasty encounter with another vampire. He came from a small clan that is known to be rather vicious. I was minding my own business looking for a meal. I found a young woman who I was just draining when another vampire appeared to demand my dinner. He claimed I was in his clan’s territory and had no right to feed. Of course I refused to let go of my meal and he attacked me. We fought and I defeated him.”
Chagara nodded. “Even if you were in their territory they have no right to attack any passing vampire unless they attack the clan. I need details. Describe the vampire you fought, the name and what you know of the clan.”
Alex looked thoughtful. “The vampire that attacked me couldn’t have been over hundred; he wasn’t all that powerful mostly arrogant. He was maybe bit taller than me and lankier. He had strawberry blond hair and blue eyes and was dressed in some sort gang clothes. All black and chains, bracelets and such. “
Chagara sniggered in his mind. He was reminded from his sister Tsenira. She wasn’t as old as he but a regal and respected vampire still. She always insisted using long, flowing black gowns. Her nails and lips were always painted black, the dark hair pulled up. These days she probably would have been referred as a Goth but she had always looked rather elegant, even mysterious with her naturally pale skin, well styled hairdo, black gown and silvery jewellery she insisted on using. She was like queen of the ancient times with bit new age in the mix. Tsenira was of course her vampire name. He didn’t really remember her real one. She was a Russian vampire and her human name had been rather long and he could never pronounce it properly.
Alex continued. “I found out later that his name was Darren and he was member of the Calica clan.”
Chagara growled. “I have heard of them, vampires like that give the rest of us a bad name.” Oh yes, he had heard of them. They were some vampires like Chagara who hunted for survival and were careful to hide their traces and then there were vampires like the Calica clan who revelled in destruction and violence. Who were careless and could easily reveal the existence of the vampires. Chagara wouldn’t mind wiping out this thorn in the side of the vampire community. He turned to Alex. “How many members does the clan have and how many do you have?”
Lauren too looked interested; she had followed the conversation keenly assessing how the two male vampires reacted two each other.
Alex frowned. “They have about twenty members if you count minions. I have some older siblings who have agreed to help and some minions.”
“There are more of them; I believe cunningness will even our odds.” Chagara mused. “We will not attack till the other members of your clan are here. Also we must make it look like they attacked us. The other vampires won’t tolerate us attacking a clan in their own territory I need to know exactly where their nest is, entrances, security system and the likes.”
“I can find out. Their nest isn’t far from here.” Alex volunteered. He looked at Chagara with barely hidden respect. The older vampire was obviously powerful and cunning. He seemed to have experience with this sort of thing and he now knew Lauren had been right to contact her sire.
“Alright. Contact us when you find out. Also see what you can find out about the head of the clan. We must leave before the sun rises.” He and Lauren moved to door and she smiled at Alex encouragingly.
AN:Sorry for late update. I had so much other things to do and no time to write. I haven`t visited this site for a while. However I noticed an encouraging rewiew and decided to write another chapter. This is a bit short but covers important things.
