Chapter 2
Thank you all for the kind reviews…..I was really happy to receive them, even though I felt a bit of pressure to make the second chapter as good as the first…..but strangely enough it went down well enough and I quite like it. I hope you do as well and will continue to read the story……
Review responses are at the bottom….
Chapter 2:
Rory’s eyebrows twitched and his eyes flew open under the impact of the sunlight that had been resting on his face for the past 30 minutes. It was late afternoon and Ry was amazed to find his body unoccupied, Ro apparently asleep somewhere in the back of his mind. Ry could feel his presence when he focused on it, but it was nothing but a warm tingle somewhere in his chest.
Slightly annoyed for the time he had lost- for Ro could have just woken him up instead of wasting their perfect body for a nap- he found himself in the library.
It seemed like the other teen had lost control over himself, falling asleep with his head buried in a massive book that Ry now had no idea where to place.
He picked it up with a scowl on his face and checked it for the title. It was a Latin dictionary of at least 2000 pages and not being a fan of languages Ry had no idea where the specific section was.
With a sigh he got up, wiping the sleep out of his eyes, when they fell on a girl sitting at a nearby desk. Her red hair was hanging into her face, but not low enough to conceal the fact that she was blatantly staring at him.
Rory stuck his tongue out at her and went to drop the book of somewhere when he noticed another group of people watching him. Their eyes were following every step he made and even though he was used to attention this came on a level that was just unusually high.
With a sigh he stepped into the next empty aisle of dusty books and leaned against the shelf.
“Hey, Ro”, he whispered in the inside, trying to prod his brother’s personality gently with his own. The other one stirred, giving a soft mental sigh, but didn’t react otherwise.
“Ro, get up”, Ry continued, a bit louder and firmer now.
It helped nothing.
“Roooooooo…..”
Rory started pinching his own hand, trying to wake Ro with the pain.
“Roooooo…darling…it’s time to get up.”
The pinching came close to drawing blood.
“Ro, there is a porn movie on.”
No reaction.
“You’re about to miss a class!”
With a sudden bang Ro became awake, going back to conscious now affecting the body which was close to a yawn and spotted a strange red blush on his face.
“Ry?!! Oh, sorry. I…I didn’t mean to fall asleep”, he apologized.
“Yeah, well, you did”, Ry snapped and wondered why he suddenly felt so hot.
“You were out for a bit too long last night.”
“Which was the time that you should have had your nap.”
“Yeah…sorry.”
“It’s alright”, Ry replied, willing to let the matter go for another one.
“What did you do?”
“Pardon me?”
“People were staring at us….”
“When?”, Ro asked, slightly confused.
“When you were asleep.”
“Then how could it be my fault?”
“You must have done something while we both were asleep”, Ry explained and his brother was about to snort, pulling himself together at the last moment.
“Or you did something”, he reasoned.
“I can control this body you know.”
“I did nothing”, Ro insisted and Ry chuckled.
”Yeah, sure.”
Their body fell back against the book shelf, almost pushing it over and both were silent for a moment, following their own thoughts.
“Did you have a wet dream?” Ry asked suddenly and caused a violent reaction when their body jumped up, cheeks now crimson red.
“No!!!” Ro whined and as expected the teasing continued.
“Really?! How can I be sure that you don’t do naughty things when I’m not around?”
“Naught…naughty things?!!! I wouldn’t. You know I wouldn’t.”
“You probably should…”
“You’re playing that part well enough, thank you.”
“Ehm….excuse me.”
It was a small voice that interrupted their argument and Ro was grateful to whoever had just spoken these words.
Ry on the other hand was practically fuming, when he turned around to come face to face with a boy, snapping a nasty: “What?”, before Ro could hold him back.
“Ehm. I’m sorry”, the boy muttered, but actually did not appear to be sorry at all.
He was a few inches below Rory, his chestnut coloured hair hanging around his forehead and cheeks, but leaving his clear blue eyes unobscured.
“What do you want?” Rory asked in a quite neutral voice, Ro clearly using his power here to restrain what ever anger Ry held.
“I would like to ask you some questions.”
It was a statement. Amazingly enough this boy was not asking a favour, but seemed to be of the opinion that Rory would be happy to do so.
“Sure”, Ro muttered, arguing with Ry inside of their head that is was still “his” time of the day.
“It is for my psychology course.”
“First semester?”
The boy nodded.
“So. Can we maybe go and sit down somewhere?”
“Why don’t we go for a coffee?”
There it was.
Ro had no idea where this came from and Ry was confronted with a situation he would never have expected to deal with- Ro initiating a date.
The boy on the other hand just repeated his nod and started walking out of the library without another word.
It took Rory a second to follow, Ry mentally yelling his protest, Ro just ignoring him heading after the quickly retreating boy.
After a few minutes they had left the library, turned right and reached a little café that was so small, that it seemed to sink into the walls, like a LCD TV with two-dimensional people staring back at you.
“That’s the strangest place, I’ve ever been to”, Ry snorted silently and Ro just shrugged their shoulders.
“It’s the closest, I guess.”
“Can you tell me why you are doing this?”
“No, not really”, Ro admitted and Ry huffed in annoyance, but didn’t make another comment, instead let their eyes wander over to the strange person his brother was currently dating.
“It is not a date”, Ro remarked, since he had followed the other’s thoughts.
“So where do you want to sit?” the boy asked and Rory just shrugged his shoulders, throwing himself onto the next chair on Ry’s accord.
The boy followed suit and sat down, placing his bag onto the table.
It was big and bulky and –in Ry’s opinion-looked like he had nicked a couple of hardcover volumes from the library.
The owner himself was concentrated on finding a folder within it, extracting it after a couple of seconds without loosing his straight posture.
He let his ocean eyes slip over to Rory, lingering there for maybe a second too long, then
turned back to his papers and one moment later Ro and Ry found themselves bombarded with questions.
“So, you are?” the boy asked and Rory gave a little cough.
“Rory Devon.”
“Age?”
“19.”
“Occupation?”
“Student.”
“Siblings?”
“No.”
“Parents?”
“Two”, Ry smirked, itching to make the boy loose patience, but his intentions were ignored.
“Divorced?”
“Yes.”
“Sexuality?”
Ry hesitated, thrown out of concept by the unexpected question, feeling Ro give a short shiver on the inside.
Eventually he hissed a: “Why?”
“Pardon me?”
By then Ro had turned flaming red, still not comfortable with his sexuality and at any other time Ry would have enjoyed to let his brother suffer a bit, but there was a growling deep inside of their stomach and he wondered why Ro didn’t notice it.
“Why.Do.You.Care?”, he said, emphasizing every word with a glare.
“I don’t care”, the boy answered nonchalantly. “But my Questionnaire does.”
“Tell him”, Ro whispered, trying to take over control.
“Homosexual”, Ro spat out and the boy just ticked his paper.
“There, wasn’t so bad, was it?” he smiled, something that made Ro’s stomach flutter and Ry’s anger well.
With narrowed eyes the latter leaned in.
“What is YOUR name?” he asked.
“Lennard.”
“So, Len….” Ry went on, stressing the syllables as long as possible, while the other ignored the use of a nickname.
“Are you trying to date my….” *my brother* “…me?”
Len gave a short, humourless laugh.
“No. I’m trying to pass my exams.”
“By asking me about my sexuality?”
“By analyzing these papers. Which I can only after they’re answered.”
“Then why not answer them yourself?”, Ry argued, his face slowly turning red with the effort of pushing Ro’s ego back, so he could set some things straight with this kid.
“Wouldn’t be unbiased”, Len countered, his gaze drifting over to Rory’s hand that was suspiciously twitching.
The older teen hid it as soon as he noticed the stare, but the table was turned by then, Len clearly spotting a humourless smile on his face, leaning in even further, until his nose was mere inches away from Rory’s.
Their eyes locked for a second, awkwardness all over the room, when Ry voiced a small, icy:” you fucking bother me.”
“Do I?”
“Very much so.”
“Well, then”, Len breathed, the air hitting Rory’s face, mixing up with the heat that already occupied his whole body.
“… I think, I better go”, Len said, his back straightening suddenly, distance coming once more in between their tense bodies and leaving the cold feeling of an anticlimax.
The hazel boy got up, and pushing his chair back into place made his way out of the café in a slow stroll, as if aware of Rory’s eyes still burning into his backside.
It took a minute before Ry could actually move again, his spine seemingly misplaced when he leaned back into the chair, hoping that the other was really gone. Not standing somewhere nearby, watching him, an idea Ry just couldn’t shake off.
With a sigh he waved the waitress over and ordered an Ice Latte with caramel crème.
“You know, that won’t help”, Ro suddenly spat, referring to the drink which was his favourite.
“It was worth a try”, Ry gave back, aching for a reaction from his brother who had been quiet the entire conversation through.
“Why did you do that?”
“The guy was hitting on you.”
It seemed like a good enough explanation for Ry, but Ro felt a slight shot of pain in his stomach.
“He said he wasn’t”, he mumbled, trying to get the point across Len had made earlier.
“He was lying. And if he wasn’t he is totally out of his mind anyway. Therefore no good catch either way.”
“Oh, you’re a bastard”, Ro hissed, making his brother smile.
“You can have sex when ever you want.”
“I don’t want sex”, Ro yelled, almost getting verbal at this point, their body shifting uncomfortably in it’s seat.
“Then I don’t know what you want-you got me.”
“I don’t want you. I want holiday from you.”
Ro’s last words came out even before he had the time to think about them and the fact that they echoed audible through the little café intensified the sting that tore at Ry’s heart.
“Be quiet”, he roared, his fist coming down onto the table, scaring the waitress that was just about to put their coffee down.
She exclaimed a highpitched shriek, stumbling back and staring at Rory’s still curled hand. The boy stared back, muttering a quick apology, but it was not Ro doing so. It was Ry’s bad conscious that made him act this way.
The waitress gave them another look, as if expecting them to pull out a gun and shoot her, but when nothing happened and no further words came, she put the coffee down and hurried off into the kitchen.
Ry sighed, well aware of the other costumers watching him closely, clearly doubting his sanity. He often doubted it himself.
He lifted the coffee and let the sweet liquid hit his tongue and upon putting it down he muttered a small: “I’m sorry.”
Ro kept quiet.
“I just want to protect you,” he continued.
“I don’t want you to”, Ro huffed and then blacked out, leaving Ry alone with the overly sweet, uselessly cold coffee that he didn’t like.

Anon: you enjoyed it much more than you thought you would???!!! sounds strange to me, but I'm happy that you started reading even though you clearly didn't expect anything good.....as for your questions (interesting ones by the way).....Ro and Ry are Rory....I don't think you could say that he is just a container, because it would mean that both of them actually had something like a body and just got locked up in this one.....so, no....not a container.....Rory was born this way and even though there are two personalities there clearly is just one body and it belongs to both of them......you can actually notice how they are influenced by the body.....they get hungry at the same time.....they have the same physical needs.....but since they have different personalities they deal with it differently.....Ro certainly feels the same sexual urges as Ry, but being more shy he doesn't act on them.....they both like men, but have a different type, because I think that's a bit of a brain thing....like I often fall for men who are a bit like my dad.....in character at least......also that Ro certainly likes slow sex and then he sees somebody kind looking and his subconscious draws the conclusion that the guy would give him slow sex......ehm.....I think I'm just rambling now....just think of them as twins in the same body....same DNA, different character.....
Ele: thank you….I’m doing my best
FIBY:…..yeah…same with me…..there are tow “me”s…….here is another chapter….but please do eat…..don’t want to loose you….

I'll Be Your Fairytale:…thank you……I hope you stay with us, even when it gets a bit angsty….it’s strange how I planned it to be completely humor and everyone wants the opposite…..I’ll go with it, but I hope you’ll still read….they won’t stop bickering, I promise….
