Boys Will Be Boys!

Chapter two- Boys will be Boys.

"This sucks, big time." Jaiden grumbled as he slammed his locker shut. "I fucking loathe Monday's." he added after a beat.

Dayne scoffed and shook his head while he fished his books out of his locker for his first lesson of the day. "I'm with you bro." he told his brother closing his own locker and leaning on it with a yawn.

"I swear, the idiot that came up with the idea of school, should be shot." Jaiden muttered just as the warning bell rang.

"Dayne," a voice called from down the corridor. "Jaiden, what's happnin' dude's." Dante Lewis said dragging himself down the hallway towards them.

"Sup bro, where you been all weekend?" Dayne asked his best friend while they did the 'cool handshake' with each other. Jaiden quickly got engaged in a conversation with Claris McAllen, head cheerleader of Clarington High.

"Oh man, I was busy with family and shit. But I heard you hooked up Kristen again, you two back together or what?" Dante asked curiously.

Dayne shook his head. "No, were not back together. We're better off as friends, you know. I was pissed she was there. End of." He explained casually as they made their way to their first class.

"In other words she's just a booty call." Jaiden's voice came from behind them. "Dude, she must be a real good lay for you to keep sniffing you way back." his brother said slapping Dayne on the back.

Dayne snorted and rolled his eyes in amusement. "She's interesting man, gives me what I want and doesn’t question me afterwards. No headache." Dayne told them.

Jaiden and Dante let out wolf whistles as they took their seats in the first class of the day, which was AP Physics.

"Oh shit, bro have you guys heard about the new girl, she transferred here from NYC." Dante asked the boys who shook their heads slowly.

"Nah, she hot?" Dayne asked lazily pulling out his books. Jaiden laughed at his brother's frankness while he shrugged.

Dante whistled, "Well from what I heard, from Jason Dwain, she's one hot piece of ass, man." Dayne and Jaiden exchanged looks and nodded as the teacher walked into class.

"Good morning, if you would all so kindly settle down so we can get the class started...thank you." Mr Scott said peering around through his thick glasses and began babbling on and on about the principles of Physics. However, shortly after the teacher began talking Jaiden zoned out.

****

"MISTER CALLAWAY!"

Jaiden awoke with a start at the sound of his teachers booming voice. He looked up to see Mr Scott, Dayne and Dante standing before him with completely different expressions; Dayne and Dante's being one of amusement and his teachers being one of rage. Mr Scott was red in the face and glaring at him his nose twitching with anger, causing Jaiden to grin but realising he was in trouble quickly changed his expression to apologetic and swiftly stood up.

"Mr Callaway, I think you will find the bell rang moment's ago." Said Mr Scott his voice edged with anger.

'Damn that bell' Jaiden thought quickly raking his mind for a plausible excuse. "Uh, sorry sir," He stated. "I, um, was just checking the desk for scratches."

Mr Scott's brows furrowed. "With your eyes closed?"

Jaiden's eyes flickered to his brother who just watched in amusement then back to his teacher. "Yes sir, it's a method I have been working on for quite sometime now, sir." Jaiden told the man and watched as Dayne and Dante fought to keep from bursting out in laughter.

"Well, that’s great Mr Callaway. You can practice your method a little more after school in detention. Have a good day." Mr Scott said before he turned and left the room.

"Oh, you too sir," Jaiden said as the man disappeared into the hallway as they followed him. "Damn!" he grumbled banging his fist in to the nearest locker while his brother and friend explode into laughter.

"Wow, already in detention before third period, that’s gotta be a new record, even for you." Dante said after his laughter died down into a dim chuckle.

"Oh shut up, it's not like I asked him to ramble on and on about a stupid magnetic field for a whole hour. Fuck, mom's gonna kill me," he uttered shaking his head.

"Yeah, she's going to ground your sorry ass, alright." Dayne told his brother with a pat on the back as they made their way to the second class of the day.

"Oh gee thanks, you're suppose to help me out you goon, why the fuck didn't you wake me man?" Jaiden asked his brows furrowed.

"We tried bro, we threw balled paper at you, but your incessant snoring kind of gave you away." Dante said with a chuckle and Jaiden glared at him.

"I do not snore, you dickheads. I swear, I fucking hate Mondays." He mumbled before walking into class and taking a seat.

"I think we established that. Now brother dear, try to keep awake this time, yeah?" Dayne teased him younger brother who glared hard at him.

"Oh shut up!" Dayne and Dante sniggered but stopped when the teacher walked in and started the class.

Jaiden tried his hardest to stay awake in English, but there's so much a guy can sit there and listen to the teacher go on and on about how great Shakespeare was. He glanced over to Dayne who was slouched in his seat lazily doodling in his notebook with a bored expression on his face.

Dante was leaning forward with his elbow on the desk his head propped into his hand with his mouth hanging open looking completely zoned out.

Jaiden fought the urge to laugh at how stupid his actually friend looked when a soft knock on the door pulled them out of their daze. Mrs Kent walked over to the door and opened it revealing a young girl with a soft smile on her face.

"Um, hi, I'm a new student here at Clarington High. I'm sorry I'm late but I had to wait for my class schedule." She said and the teacher smiled and gestured for her to enter.

"What's your name?" She asked the girl.

"Eyvah Blake." She said timidly trying not to blush under the stares and whisper's she was getting from the class.

Dayne lifted his eyes when he heard all the whispers around him and frowned. "That’s her." Dante turned and whispered to him and his brother. That’s who? He thought as his eyes lifted and fell upon a girl about the same age as them. She had long golden brown hair which cascaded down her back in loose curls. Her eyes were big and almond shaped which seemed to be a soft chocolate brown. Dayne let his eyes lazily run a little lower, until they came to a stop on her lips which were full with a pinkish tint and look so soft.

"Damn." He muttered to himself as he took in the smoothness of her unblemished golden skin. She seemed to stand at 5ft8 with long legs and a figure most girls in this school would kill to have. She had a slim frame but was blessed with curves in all the right places. She's stunning! Dayne thought as he as well as the other's continued to gawk at her. Well the guys anyway, the girls seemed to sneer.

"Well class, this is Eyvah Blake. She has transferred here from New York City and will be attending Clarington High." Mrs Kent informed the class and turned to smile at Eyvah who smiled back showing a row of perfect white teeth and a dimple's on both cheeks. "You may sit dear; take a seat by...Mr Callaway. Dayne hold your hand up." Mrs Kent said and Dayne raised his hand.

"Fuck me, she's hot!" Dayne heard his brother mutter from beside him. Eyvah slowly made her way down to sit at the desk beside Dayne who nodded a hello while she smiled in return.

Dayne returned his attention back to the teacher who began talking about Romeo and Juliet. However he couldn’t help but glance at Eyvah through the corner of his eye and see that she was listening intently to the teacher and taking notes. Oh god, she's one of those do-gooder types!! Dayne thought and shook his head zoned out almost instantly.

*Lunch Time*

"Oh man, I am starving." Jaiden said rubbing his taut stomach as he eyed up the food in the cafeteria.

"Dude, hurry the fuck up." Dante grumbled from behind him shoving slightly. Jaiden shoved him back with a scowl.

"Fuck off, D. You of all people should know not to rush me when it comes to food." Jaiden told him while filling his plate with pizza, a hamburger and fries.

Dayne rolled his eyes and shook his head while he filled his plate with lasagne and fries and a bottle of water. "I swear to you, Jaiden. Your eyes are bigger than your stomach." Jaiden scowled at his older brother while they moved over and sat with their friends on the 'Cool Kids' table and began discussing football and other things guys talked about.

****

Eyvah sighed as she sat at a table with a few other girls she had befriended and gingerly began eating her chicken sandwich quietly while she lost herself in her thoughts.

"Like omigod, Dayne is so damn fine. He like totally winked at me in the hallway yesterday....and Jaiden, he's so dreamy I like totally love him. Oh...my...gosh have you girls seen his picture in the magazine's...he looked sooo hot!" a girl named Taylor Mitchell squealed annoyingly.

Eyvah cringed inwardly. If there was one thing she couldn’t stand it was valley-girl-wanna-bee. What was the point in using the word 'Like' and Oh my gosh' so many times in one sentence. Jeez annoying much?

"Don't mind her; she can be a tad bit annoying, I know. But you'll get used to her in time." Donna Willis a petite brunette with gleaming hazel eyes told her in a hushed tone. Eyvah smiled and nodded politely opening her mouth to reply when loud roar laughter came from a table in the corner of the cafeteria.

Eyvah's brown eye's snapped up and she watched the table which seemed to be filled with jocks and cheerleaders with interest. The guy she was sitting beside in English was on that table too laughing at the joke that had them all cackling.

Eyvah took a moment to study said guy. He looked to be well over 6 feet tall, short blond hair and a pair of piercing blue eyes. He was lean with an obvious muscular build, which meant he spent more than a few hours at the gym. Eyvah narrowed her eyes a little, in order to study him a little more closely.

"Your eyes aren't deceiving you, babe. They really are unexplainably hot." Donna's voice cut through Eyvah's thoughts.

"Huh, w-what, I mean, what do you mean?" Eyvah asked hurriedly trying to hide the blush that formed on her cheeks.

Donna looked at her with bemusement. "Dayne and Jaiden," Donna said simply but when Eyvah gave her a look of confusion she sighed. "The Callaway brother's..." She tried again but Eyvah just shook her head.

"Um, I don't. Am I supposed to have heard of them?" She said and all the girls at her table stopped talking and gasped in shock as thought she just confessed to a murder or something.

Donna blinked. "You're kidding me right?" Eyvah shook her head.

"Ohmigosh! Have you like never read a magazine, or watched E?" Taylor asked in shock.

Eyvah frowned "Um, I-"

"How can you not know who THEY are?" Another girl shrieked.

"Honey, Jaiden and Dayne are the sons of Jordan Callaway." Donna said in a flat tone and Eyvah's mouth dropped open. Callaway...of course Jordan Callaway! That’s why the name was so familiar.

"Wow, I guess the apple really don’t fall far from the tree." Eyvah said in bewilderment.

Donna laughed. "No they don’t, they are definitely following their fathers footsteps. How could you not have heard of them? They're like the next big thing since their father."

Eyvah watched the two brothers closely, this time focusing on Jaiden who had a blonde settled in his lap while he spoke to his friends. "I guess I never paid much attention. They're half brother's right? And I heard they had an older sister?"

Donna cleared her throat. "Yeah, that’s right but don't ever mention the half brother thing, they get pissed. As far as their concerned they're brothers."

Eyvah nodded. "Wow, they must be tight." She mused and all the girls sighed dreamily.

"They are if one gets into trouble the others there for back up immediately they're both really protective of one another, especially Leila." Donna explained.

"Leila?"

"Their sister, she's like five years older than them. Isabelle and Jordan's first born before, Jaiden." Eyvah nodded and kept her eyes on Dayne. He looked like the protective older brother type, and somehow Eyvah found that appealing. Completely lost in her thoughts she didn’t even realize she was staring intently into pair of clear blue eyes.

Dayne held the new girls gaze until the bell rang and she jumped obviously snapping out of the stupor she was in. She blinked at him and shook her head which made Dayne smile charmingly at her before turning his attention to his friends.

****

The last bell of the day went and all the students of Clarington High hurriedly made their way to exit of the school. Some were standing around in the parking lot conversing with friends or flirting with girls.

Dayne was currently leaning on his silver Porsche Carrera GT which had soft music streaming from the Bose sound system in his car. He sighed and waved at a few girls that were passing by him on their way home.

Dayne had to wait for Jaiden to come out of detention, so he could give him a ride home since his brother rode with him to school that morning. Dayne yawned bored when he noticed the new girl in the distance talking with Jake Adams, the school's jack-ass.

Dayne watched Eyvah closely and noticed the uncomfortable look on her face while she was talking. She visibly flinched when Jake reached up and tried to touch her face.

***

"So what do you say, you and I go out this Saturday?" Jake asked with a smile.

Eyvah smiled politely and shook her head. "I'm sorry, Jake. You seem like a really nice guy but-"

"Oh come on baby, don't play hard to get. I'll make it worth your time I promise." He smirked reaching out to touch her cheek but Eyvah pulled back disgusted.

"Thank you Jake, but my answer is still no." Eyvah said trying to sound as polite as possible and tried to walk away but a strong grip on her wrist stopped her from doing so.

Eyvah opened her mouth to tell him to let go when a deep voice from behind her beat her to it. "I believe she said no, Adams. Let her go." Eyvah looked back to see Dayne Callaway standing there with a stony look in his eyes.

"What are you her keeper, Callaway? Back off this is none of your business." Jake spat in annoyance.

Dayne who looked unfazed by Jake's remark took a menacing step closer to him. "I'm not gonna tell you again. Now run along and work that nonexistent charm on a girl who's brainless enough to actually fall for it, and stop bothering those you have absolutely no chance with." Dayne told him coldly. Jake dropped Eyvah's hand like a hot potato at the tone of his voice and held his hands up in surrender.

Eyvah watched Jake mumble profanities under his breath and walk away leaving the two alone. "Are you alright?" Dayne asked his voice more soft and calm.

Eyvah looked back at her saviour and nodded. "Um...y-yeah, you didn't have to do that. I could hav-"

"I know you just looked kind of uncomfortable, so I thought I would help you out." He said with a friendly smile. "Just be sure to watch out for him in the future, Jake can be quite the dickhead."

"Um, I'll keep that in mind." Eyvah said nervously tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. Dayne smiled and nodded.

"I'm Dayne by the way." He stuck out his hand. Eyvah smiled and took his offered hand and shook it.

"Eyvah Blake." She said and pulled her hands from his large ones. Dayne cleared his throat and his blue eyes narrowed for a moment.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Eyvah, how are you finding Clarington High so far?" He asked politely.

Eyvah shrugged and hoisted her backpack over her shoulders. "Oh um, its fine I guess. It's kinda hard to say on the first day." Dayne nodded.
"Well, I'm glad to hear you're settling in alright. If anybody gives you any trouble, be sure to let me know. People around here can be a little too much to deal with." Dayne offered and Eyvah laughed softly.

"So I see. But thanks anyway, for you know the whole Jake thing." Dayne shuffled his feet and smiled charmingly.

"Don't mention it." Eyvah looked up and met his gaze head on for the first time. His blue eyes were startling it literally knocked the air out of her lungs. "So, um do you need a ride home?" Dayne offered.

Eyvah blinked and bit her bottom. "Um no, I only live like five minutes away from school. I'll just walk."

"Nonsense, a gentleman never lets a lady walk. My mom would chew my ear off if she ever found out." Dayne told her with a chuckle, Eyvah laughed.

"Well she sounds like quite a woman." She said and watched as Dayne nodded a tinge of pink creeping to his cheeks.

"Oh believe me she is. She's really big on the whole chivalry thing, and did her damn hardest to drum some sense into us. I guess all her work paid off." He told her with a soft laugh as they walked over to his car.

"She should be proud, there aren’t many guys out there that open doors and offer rides to complete strangers." Eyvah said stopping beside his car and looking at him uncertainly. "Um..."

Dayne chuckled. "I drive safe, I promise." Eyvah nodded and slid into the passenger seat and looked around the car in awe.

A few minutes later the driver's side door opened and Dayne slid in and started the car. "Sorry about that, my brothers in detention and I had to make sure he got a ride home after." He told her while pulling out of the parking lot.

"Oh, well we could have waited for him-"

Dayne shook his head. "Nah its fine, I got a friend of ours to give him a ride home after." Eyvah nodded and sunk further into the leather seat after giving him her address.

"You know, you're not quite what I expected you to be." Eyvah suddenly blurted out. Dayne looked over at her with a small frown.

"What do you mean?" he asked averting his eyes to the road. Eyvah bit her lip and tried to find the right word to say to him without offending him.

"Um well..." She started off lamely fiddling nervously with her fingers in her lap. "I guess, I kind of got the impression that you were a player." She mumbled pathetically and looked up when she heard Dayne chuckle.

"Yeah, I get that a lot. Sorry to disappoint you babe, but you got the wrong brother." Dayne said casually.

"I'm sorry I didn’t mean-." She hurried to say but he cut her off.

"No it's fine; I'm used to people passing judgement. You kind of learn to ignore it after a while. I'm not gonna lie and say I'm an angel because god knows I'm not. But I just don't like the idea of using some girl to get my kicks. I think that’s cruel and if someone did that to my sister I would tear them apart without a second thought to It." he said watching the cars in front of them as they rolled into traffic.

Eyvah stayed silent for a moment and regarded him closely. "I'm sorry if I upset you. I really didn’t mean to make a snap judgement or anything. It's just..." she trailed off and bit her bottom lip timidly.

"Eyvah, really it's fine. You didn't upset me. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion, and I'm sure you're wise enough to make your own judgement instead of listening to others. I know I give off the persona of a bad boy, but looks can be deceiving." He told her with a shrug as he pulled up at her door.

"Um, thank you for the ride and everything. And I'm sorry if I upset or offended you in anyway." She said opening the door.

"Don't worry about it." he winked when he saw the perplexed look on her face. She smiled and closed the door and watched Dayne drive off and disappear around the corner.

****

"Thanks for the ride man." Jaiden told Dante before stepping out of said boy's car after a quick handshake.

"No problem dude, see you guys at school tomorrow." Dante said and waved goodbye before driving off with his tyre's screeching loudly.

Jaiden was about turn and enter the house when he saw his brothers Porsche at the gate. Dante honked at him on his way out of the gate and Dayne honked back as he pulled up in front of the house.

Dayne stepped out of the car and locked it. "Sup lil bro?" Jaiden arched his brow at his brother as he walked by.

"What happened to giving me a ride after school?" Jaiden questioned as they entered the house.

"Yeah sorry about that, something came up." Dayne said kicking off his shoes and making his way to the kitchen.

"Dante said he saw you get in the car with the new chick, what's her name...?"

"Eyvah," Dayne said looking through the refrigerator.

"Yeah her, I thought you couldn’t be bothered with the whole 'dating' thing?" Jaiden asked hopping up on the counter.

"I can't, I didn’t ask her out. I just gave her a ride home, that’s all." Dayne told him after taking a long sip of his coca cola.

"Bullshit, that’s how it always starts." Jaiden remarked. Dayne opened his mouth to retort but got cut off by a yelling.

"Jaiden Andrew Callaway, you get your ass over here right now!" Isabelle's voice echoed through the house. Jaiden and Dayne exchanged looks.

"Ahhh shit." Jaiden groaned and made his way over to the living room.

"Uh-oh, you know she means business when she says your full name." Dayne said with a smirk.
"Shut the fuck up and help me get out of this." Jaiden said quietly as they neared the living room where Isabelle was standing with her hands on her hips.

"No way dude, you're on your own. Unlike you I value my life." Dayne snickered and entered the room. "Hi mom," he said plopping on the sofa.

"Hey sweetie, how was school?" Isabelle asked her eldest. Dayne shrugged.

"Fine, although I can't say the same for others." He chuckled when Jaiden glowered at him.

"Mamma's boy" Jaiden spat. Dayne just grinned.

"Hey, that’s enough." Isabelle said firmly to both of them. She turned her attention to Jaiden who was sprawled on the sofa. What's this I hear you got a detention in your first class?" She asked with a frown.

Jaiden cleared his throat, "Um yeah, who told you?" he questioned.

Isabelle gave him a stern look. "Your teacher called and told me, you fell asleep in class."

Jaiden looked up at his mother giving her his best puppy dog eyes in a type of primitive strike. "Don't even try it, Jaiden. I became impervious to those eyes three years ago.

"Sorry I forgot." Jaiden said sheepishly. "But mom, can I just say that in my defence that you just don’t understand just how boring physics actually is!" he exclaimed.

Isabelle couldn’t help but laugh, a problem she always had while trying to be annoyed with her son. "Sweetie, I know it's boring but you have to try and concentrate on your studying. I told you this once and I'm telling you again. Just because you come from a wealthy family and have a job as model does not mean you get to slack off at school." Isabelle told him, her voice softening.

"You're a smart kid, and I did not raise you to be imprudent. I want you to get an education and graduate with honours. Trust me honey, you never know what life will throw at you, I just want you both to be ready. Don't rely too much on your money because it comes and it goes; always have a back up plan." She told them both.

Jaiden and Dayne both nodded. "I'm sorry, mom. It's just that class bores me beyond belief. I just can't seem to keep my eyes open long enough to actually learn something." Jaiden said with a sigh.

"Surely you must have learned something in physics?" Isabelle reasoned.
Jaiden gave her a look, "Mom, I have learnt exactly three things in that room over the past few years," Jaiden said "One, the earth orbits the sun, two light travels in straight lines and three, I can actually sleep with my eyes open." he told her flatly and Dayne chuckled from beside him.

Isabelle smiled, "Well, you should have done that today then, you certainly wouldn't have gotten detention."

Jaiden groaned. "I know, but Mr Scott's voice is just so...tedious. And when he goes on and on about the principles in physics, I just wanna get a gun and blow my brains out just so I won't have to listen to him."

Isabelle rubbed her temples. "Alright Jaiden, I won't ground you this time, but no more partying or drinking on Sunday's. And I want you both to be home no later than midnight. Got it?" she said firmly and both boys nodded.

"Good, now go on. I have work to do. Dinner should be ready in an hour. Dayne will you be staying?" she asked her eldest who nodded.

"Um yeah, I'll probably crash here tonight." He told her and stood up from the sofa. Isabelle nodded.

"Alright honey, be sure to call your mother and tell her that okay?" Dayne nodded and gave her a kiss on the cheek before running upstairs.

Jaiden smiled at his mother and gave her a kiss on the other cheek and ran off after his brother. "Yo D, Load up the Xbox. I wanna rip your ass at GT3!" Jaiden's voice rang out in the house.

"You're on bitch!" Dayne called back.

"Boy's language!" Isabelle scolded them from the office.

"Sorry mom." Both boys said in unison. Isabelle shook her head and smiled contently when the boys yelling echoed through the house and Leila shrieking at them to shut the hell up so she could read in peace.

"Kids...you gotta love em'." She said with a chuckle and made her way to the kitchen to get a start on dinner.
