Blood and Sex
Ok here's the next chapter! Oh, I forgot to mention in chapter one that each chapter is from one persons point of view. Chapter one was from Eva's point of view, this one is Drake. I'll remember to specify from now on
Drake: Blood and Sex
Out of the corner of his eye he saw Eva’s hand reach out for something, he turned fully to face her and saw her start to fall and, luckily, caught her just before she hit the floor. Scooping her up into his arms he made his way over to the couch. “Of course; the night I find her I have to deal with this.” He muttered under his breath. He set her down on the couch carefully and placed a small pillow under her head. She looked so pale and fragile just lying there like that; so… helpless. But other than that she looked about the same as she had the first time he’d seen her. Her hair was a deep red, wavy, and fell past her shoulders. The first time he’d seen her it had been pulled back in a bun at the base of her neck but pieces of hair had come loose and framed her face. Her skin was pale and covered in freckles. She was a bit shorter than he was, probably about two or three inches above five feet tall as compared to his five feet, ten inches. Eva was thin, but not that obnoxious stick-thin; she had nice curves to her and her breasts were a nice size, big enough to notice without being too much; he looked back to her face quickly when he caught himself staring. Her eyes were a very pretty light green with sandy-colored eyelashes that you could see when they caught the light. Eva’s lips were full and though he’d never actually seen her smile, he knew it had to be amazing.
He went to the kitchen and filled a glass with tap water and then pulled a wash cloth out of the bottom drawer. He soaked the cloth in cold water and rang it out before heading back into the front room. Kneeling down next to the couch he folded the damp cloth and laid it across her forehead. She looked just like she did that first night he carried her back to his apartment after everything had happened. “I still don’t know why you’re so important kid.” He said to himself, “But you’re certainly making my job more difficult.”
That night had scared him more than anything else he’d done so far, and he still wasn’t sure why. He’d walked a different way home that night just because he felt like he needed to, then when he saw her across the street and watched her get pulled into the alley he knew at least some of the ‘why’. Fighting off the two guys holding her was the easy part, trying to save her once he realized that idiot had cut her throat in the struggle was harder than he expected. Being a vampire was the strangest experience a person could ever go through, in his opinion. And living your life and surviving as one was forever changing and challenging as well. Seeing her lying on the sidewalk, loosing so much blood was almost overwhelming even for him and how much blood he dealt with on a nightly basis.
He knew that the only way to save her would be to turn her, and he had to act quickly or it would do more damage to him than any good to her. As he knelt over her and called her name, or what his senses were telling him her name was, she opened her eyes and he saw she was trying to speak. He leaned down and sunk his fangs into her neck at the base where it curved and met with her shoulder. He drank carefully, then quickly bit his wrist and let his blood run into her mouth. Her eyes were closed and he couldn’t hear her breathing anymore and feared he was too late. But then the bleeding stopped and the gash on her neck began to seal; though the bite mark he left would never fully heal.
Eva stirred slightly on the couch and brought him out of his thoughts and back into the present. He reached out and pulled the collar of her shirt down enough to show the bite mark; when he ran his thumb lightly across it she twitched. That mark would always be sensitive, especially if it was him touching it. “Eva? Wake up.” He said softly in her ear. He moved his hand up into her hair and ran his fingers through it gently, “Come on, it’s time to wake up.”
Eva’s eyes fluttered opened and she immediately moved to sit up but he placed a hand on her shoulder to stop her from moving. “I wouldn’t do that just yet.” He told her as she looked around and looked like she was trying to remember where she was.
“I… Where am I?”
“It’s okay Eva. You’re at my apartment, remember? We walked here from the bar.” He stood up and offered her his hand. Eva reluctantly took it and he slowly pulled her up into a sitting position. He picked up the glass of water off the table and handed it to her, “Here, drink this.” She slowly sipped some of the water and put a hand to her forehead, rubbing slightly. He waited a minute and let her get her bearings before asking, “Eva, when was the last time you ate?”
“Ate?” She looked up at him confused, “Uh… I had some soup earlier.”
“That’s not quite what I meant.” How was he going to explain this, because she didn’t seem to remember anything. “Do you remember meeting me?”
“Vaguely.” She finished the water and set the glass back on the table.
“You don’t know what you are, do you?” He took her confused look as a no. She had to have figured some of it out on her own. Of course he had tried to explain everything before she ran away from him. He ran a hand over his face, this was going to be interesting, “Well, Eva, you’re…well actually we’re… vampires.” The last word came out a lot quieter than he expected. He glanced up at her trying to gauge her reaction from the blank look on her face.
“What?” Eva started to stand up but her head must have objected to that idea because her hand shot up to her forehead and she slowly lowered herself back onto the couch.
“Eva, that night you were attacked… I was there. I saw you get pulled into the alley and I fought them off. But the guy holding you had a knife at your throat and in the struggle he managed to cut your throat pretty badly.” He paused a minute to let that sink in. Eva just stared at the empty glass on the table. “You were losing so much blood, and the only way to save you was to turn you.”
“Turn me?” She finally turned her head and looked him straight in the eye.
“Yeah, turn you into a vampire.” Maybe this would go better than he thought.
“My dream…” Eva muttered under her breath. “But… no. It was just a dream.” She managed to stand up this time and took a few steps away from the couch. He got up and walked towards her carefully. She stopped and put a hand to her collar bone, feeling the two small scars that marred her skin just above the bone. “I remember your eyes.” She turned to face him now, fingers still covering the scar. “I… I have to go.” She almost made it to the door but he grabbed her arm at the elbow and spun her around to face him.
“No Eva. You aren’t strong enough.”
“Let go!” Eva yelled at him and struggled to get her arm out of his grasp. He took her other arm and tightened his hold.
“You are staying here.” She managed to wrench one arm away from him and reached for the door. As she leaned away from him he simply stepped forward and knocked her off balance and her back hit the door with a loud thump. She flinched and stopped all movement which gave him the opportunity to get a better hold on her. He pinned her to the door with one hand on each of her arms and using his weight to hold her still. “We need to talk about this.” He said as calmly and quietly as he could but his frustration with her was starting to show. She tried once more to get away from him, but even if she wasn’t already weak he’d still be much stronger than her. “Eva, calm down.” She pushed him away slightly so he pressed against her, he could now feel her heavy breathing against his chest. She had worked herself up so much he was surprised she hadn’t passed out again. She finally looked him straight in the eye and still they held a very defiant look in them. But then they started to go from that bright green to a dull gray and he couldn’t help but smile.
“What!” Eva yelled right in his face, her fangs were now showing more prominently. His grip loosened slightly as he watched her; he hadn’t been around an attractive woman in a very long time. Being this close to her, her heavy breathing pressing her chest against him with each breath was too much for him. He leaned his head down and kissed her softly, pressing his lips against hers, waiting for a response. It only took a second for her to react to the kiss, her mouth opened slightly beneath his and his tongue snaked in to taste her mouth fully. He pressed her harder against the door, letting go of her arms and his right hand went up into her hair holding her close. His left arm slipped between the small of her back and the door while her hand went around his waist. The kiss was full of desire, or lust, call it what you will but either way it was amazing.
He stopped himself for a moment and pulled back looking for her eyes as they fluttered open and a small moan of disappointment escaped her lips. They were both breathing heavily at this point, their desire for each other growing. Her eyes focused fully on his and there was surprise written across them, “What?” He asked breathlessly.
“You’re eyes… they’re black.” Eva replied in a hushed tone.
“Yours are gray. It’s ok, it’s just something that happens.” He told her as his hand played absently with her hair, “You’ll get used to controlling it… most of the time.” He was expecting her to push away any second but she moved her arms up to around his neck and pulled him down for another kiss. He didn’t know how long they stood by the front door but he eventually realized that he had in fact moved them through the living room, down the short hallway, and he was now opening the door to his bedroom. He pulled her into the room and kicked the door closed behind them. He pulled away from her grasp long enough to walk the short length of the room and close the dark curtains on the only window in the room. Then he walked quickly back to her and pulled her down onto the bed.
