Night

The Perfect

2. Night

Talan sneezed. He had actually gotten a cold from being in the rain the night before. He was lying on his bed waiting for Lucas to call him. Talan had gotten off an hour before Lucas and was able to go home before they got together. Of course, Lucas had to close so it would probably take him longer to actually get out of there.

Talan flipped through the channels and eventually fell asleep.

***
It took an extra hour for Lucas to get out of work. They had to put everything back in their exact places. He pulled his work shirt off leaving him in his white t-shirt.

“I’d better call Talan,” he said to himself while walking to his car. He pulled his phone out and dialed Talan’s number.

***
Talan didn’t wake up to his phone vibrating on the pillow right next to the one he was laying his head on. He continued to sleep.

***
“Hmm,” he said hanging up his phone. “Maybe he’s just in the bathroom. I’ll just go over to his house.”

Lucas got in his car and started it up. He drove out of the parking lot and headed to Talan’s house which was pretty close.

He had made another attempt to call but Talan slept through that one as well. He parked his car in front of Talan’s house and went up to the door. He grabbed a rock and chucked it up to Talan’s bedroom window. It made a large banging sound.

“Huh?” Talan said as he twitched into consciousness. “Did I fall asleep?”

He picked up his phone and saw that he’d missed two calls from Lucas. Another rock hit his window. He looked out and saw Lucas there. He ran down the stairs and outside.

“Why didn’t you answer my calls?” Lucas asked.

“I fell asleep,” Talan said. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to.”

“That’s okay,” Lucas said kissing his forehead.

“Geese,” Talan said. “You got out of work really late tonight.”

“Yeah it took forever to get done,” Lucas replied. “I’m glad I’m done now.”

“Yeah so am I,” Talan laughed. “So where we going?”

“I thought we could just go to my house and watch a movie in my room,” Lucas said. “What do you think of that?”

“Sounds good,” Talan said.

They walked to his car.

“We just have to make sure that we don’t stay up too late,” Talan said. “We both have to work at 10 tomorrow.”

“That gives us plenty of time,” Lucas said.

***
Lucas lived a little out of town. He lived far enough out of town that he was in the next town over’s school district. Still, it wasn’t too far away from where Talan was. They arrived at his house which was bigger than Talan’s.

“This is where I live,” Lucas said smiling. “My parents are asleep so we have to be quiet going in.”

“Do they know I’m here?” Talan said.

“No way,” Lucas said. “We said we were going to keep this a secret remember?”

“Yeah,” Talan smiled.

“They won’t bother us or anything,” Lucas said as they entered his house. “We’re just gunna watch a movie anyways.”

Lucas’ room was a regular sized room. White walls, blue bedspread, all the regular stuff.

“What are we going to watch?” Talan asked.

“I was thinking we could watch something funny,” Lucas said. “Like Mean Girls.”

“That movie is so funny,” Talan said.

“Good,” Lucas smiled grabbing the DVD. “Go ahead and make yourself comfortable.”

Talan sat down on Lucas’ bed. Lucas put the movie in his DVD player and turned the TV. The movie started and Lucas laid down on his bed.

“You can lay down,” Lucas teased. “I won’t bite.”

Talan laughed and laid next to Lucas. Lucas put his arm around Talan as the movie started while Talan wrapped his arms around Lucas’ stomach. His head was laying on Lucas’ arm.

The movie went on and the two were getting restless.

“Hey,” Lucas said. “You still awake?”

“Yeah,” Talan lifted his head up and shifted his body to face Lucas. “Why?”

“Are you bored of this movie?” Lucas asked, “Because I am.”

“I’m not paying attention to the movie loser,” Talan said. “I’m just enjoying being in your arms.”

“That’s a really cute thing to say,” Lucas smiled. “Thanks for saying it.”

“Yeah,” Talan said. “It’s my new favorite thing to do.”

“It’s getting pretty late you know,” Lucas said. “Do you want me to take you home now?”

“Oh yeah,” Talan said. “But that would mean I couldn’t lay here in your arms.”

“Are you saying that you want to stay the night?” Lucas said.

“Sure,” Talan said. “I just wanna lay here in your arms all night long. I want nothing more than that.”

“Are you sure?” Lucas said, “I mean, you wanna sleep with me already?”

Lucas was a little confused.

“I mean not that I don’t want you to stay,” Lucas continued. “Because I do. I really do. But, I mean I’m not—”

“Hold it buddy,” Talan interrupted. “Are you talking about what I think you’re talking about? That’s the furthest thing from my mind right now. We’ve only been seeing each other for two days now.”

“Oh good,” Lucas laughed.

“Just so you know,” Talan continued. “I’m just like you. I’m not ready for it either okay? At least not tonight.”

Lucas smiled at Talan. Talan lifted himself up with his elbows and pressed his lips to Lucas’.

“So are you excited for your senior year?” Talan asked, “It’s a blast for sure. Well at least it was for me.”

“I’m really excited,” Lucas said. “I’m excited to start Tennis again.”

“You play Tennis?” Talan said, “That is so hot. It’s pretty much my favorite sport.”

“Did you play?” Lucas said.

“No,” Talan said. “But I was good at it. I was in theater at my high school. Back in the day when I was still in high school.”

“What like three weeks ago?” Lucas laughed, “You are such a dork.”

“Well,” Talan smiled. “It seems like years ago already. It’s probably ‘cause I’m looking forward to college so much. Living in the dorms is gunna be so much better than living at home.”

“The dorms?” Lucas said, “So much freedom. I can come visit you can’t I?”

“We’ll just have to see,” Talan said.

“See?” Lucas frowned. “Aw I’m gunna cry.”

“No, you can come visit all you want,” Talan smiled. “We won’t have to sneak around your parents if you come to my dorm.”

“But we will have to sneak around your roommate,” Lucas laughed. “Won’t we?”

“Let’s not worry about that right now,” Talan said. “It’s still two and a half months away. When we get closer to that we’ll talk about how we are going to sneak.”

“So you plan on us being together in two and a half months then?” Lucas said, “That’s good.”

“Well to be fair,” Talan said. “We aren’t really together. Dating maybe… but I’m not your boyfriend or anything.”

“Oh,” Lucas’ face went from joy to almost sadness.

“Don’t be sad,” Talan put his hand on Lucas’ face. “You didn’t let me finish. I was gunna say that I’m not your boyfriend. But, I was thinking that since I’m not, maybe I could be? If you want me to be that is.”

“Boyfriend,” Lucas raised an eyebrow. “You wanna be my boyfriend do you?”

“Maybe,” Talan said. “You have good qualifications. You’re a good kisser, you’re pretty good looking, you’re tall, you have muscle, and pretty blue eyes.”

“If you’re trying to better your chances,” Lucas said. “It’s working. But, do you have the right qualifications? Let’s see. You are tan, good hair, pretty hot for a skinny guy, and to top it all off, you have great style. I’d say you’re up to standards.”

“Up to standards?” Talan laughed, “Don’t tell me that you’re shallow.”

“Do you not like shallow?” Lucas asked, “Because I mean, you can’t date someone you don’t think is hot, or at least good looking.”

“I love shallow,” Talan said. “Hell I’m probably shallower than you are.”

“So then it’s settled,” Lucas said. “You wanna be my boyfriend.”

“And you wanna be mine,” Talan said. “So we’re a couple.”

“Guess so,” Lucas said.

“Shut up,” Talan said grinning.

He pressed his lips to Lucas’ once again. His hand made its way to the short blonde hair, on the back of his head. He used a little force to keep their faces together. Lucas opened his mouth and tilted his head and moved his tongue into Talan’s mouth. Their tongues met and then Talan’s found its way into Lucas’ mouth. Talan moved himself to a sitting up position to make it easier for them to kiss. He shifted the angle of his head and pushed his tongue further into Lucas’ mouth.

Talan pulled away. His nose wrinkled up and he turned to the side to sneeze.

“Bless you,” Lucas laughed. “Told you that rain was gunna give you a cold.”

“A sneeze isn’t a cold,” Talan said. “Sometimes you just have to sneeze.”

“Whatever you say,” Lucas said.

Lucas smiled at Talan. Then noticed the time was 12:45.

“We’d better get to sleep,” Lucas said. “We have to wake up with enough time for both of us to shower and get ready for work.”

“I don’t have my work clothes,” Talan said.

“Then we will wake up a little earlier,” Lucas said. “But you live closer to work than I do so it won’t be a big deal to drop by and get your stuff from your house.”

“You can probably just drop me off in the morning,” Talan said. “I can drive myself to work. I get off a half an hour after you.”

“Or I could wait,” Lucas said. “Just so I can give you a ride home.”

“If you really want to,” Talan said. He yawned.

“I really do,” Lucas said. “But let’s go to sleep. I’m tired and so are you.”

Lucas moved his lips to Talan’s and kissed him softly.

Talan wrapped his arms around Lucas, and Lucas put his arm around Talan. Lucas kissed the top of Talan’s head. The two soon fell asleep.
