chapter 2
Chapter 2
Nate stood outside Angel’s classroom waiting for her to come out. Picking her up for
lunch was something he did on Friday’s it was the tradition the two of them had since
moving to San Francisco in December. Every Friday they would go out for pizza.
While waiting for Angel he saw a little girl that looked so much like Kita run past him.
No that couldn’t be his child or could it? He thought to himself.
Angel came out interrupting his thoughts. "Daddy are you ready to go?" she asked. Then
turned her attention to the girl running in the hallway.
"Lexi!" she yelled getting the girl’s attention. The girl came towards her. "Oh hi Angel
how r u?" she asked looking behind her. "I’m good who are you running from, is it your
dad?" Angel asked her.
"Yes I’m running from my dad because he picked me up from school. Now were at your school
to pick up my half-brother and then were to be going for lunch, but I didn’t want to so
I started running but I have no clue where I’m going so yeah," Lexi said smiling.
Nate just kept looking at the girl the he asked Angel "sweetie how do you know this
girl?"
"Lexi and her little sister Vicky go to the same daycare as I do." Angel told him.
"How old is you sister Lexi?" Nate asked.
Lexi thought for a minute then said, " Vicky just turned six."
Before Nate could reply to what Lexi said a man came and garbed her wrist.
"Alexia how many damn times do I have to tell you not to take off" he said shaking her.
When she didn’t answer he slapped her across her face and yelled answer me damn it!
That’s when Nate stepped in and picked up the crying little girl and said " you had no
right to hit her like that she did not deserve that".
"Ok first of all put my daughter down right now and next I will do whatever I feel like
doing to her because she is my daughter" he told Nate.
Nate looked at Angel and said "Angel lets go out for lunch".
"Ok daddy, but daddy please don’t let him take Lexi with him" Angel said through tears.
"Look you cannot take my daughter with you that would be kidnapping" the man told Nate.
As Nate thought about what to do the little girl he was holding whispered in his ear to
take her to her daycare because she had the afternoon off the same as Angel.
"Ok sir look I am not going to let you take her with you but I will take her to her
daycare that way you will know where she is". Nate explained to him.
"You know what do what you want with Alexia I don’t care anymore just have her at her
daycare by 4 so her mom can pick her up" he said and then walked away.
"Ok fine then Angel, Alexia lets go for lunch" Nate said putting Lexi down and grabbing
both her and Angel’s hands.
Both girls just nodded their heads and went with him.
During lunch Nate asked Angel what she was doing in school then he asked Alexia the same
questions.
After they were done eating lunch he dropped off both girls at daycare explaining how he
ended up with Lexi. The daycare workers just shook their heads and said that they had
thought that he had hurt her before but they had no proof until now. He said bye to both
of the girls and then left
.
Nate spent the rest of the afternoon thinking about what had happened that day he then
decided that he would pick up Angel early so he could talk to Alexia mother and see if
she was who he thought she was, see if she was Kita.
At 3:30 Nate left his house so that he could be at the daycare for 4:00 the time he was
told that Alexia and her younger sister got picked up.
Nate arrived at the daycare at 4:05 and was relieved to see that Alexia was still there.
Nate didn’t see Angel anywhere so he walked up to Alexia and started talking. "Hi Lexi
how are you doing did your dad come here at all today?" he asked her.
Lexi looked at him for a minute then said "no my daddy didn’t and I’m very happy about
that", she said with a smile. Then she went on to say "but I’m on a time out right now
for fighting with one of the boys so I can’t really talk, but if you’re here to get
Angel she’s in the arts and crafts room."
Nate Smiled at her gave her a hug and then said, "well thank you for the information" and
walked away to go and get Angel.
When Angel saw him she asked him to let her finish her craft, Nate told her that, that
was fine because he wanted to try and she Lexi’s mom.
Once Angel was done her craft she went upstairs to get her stuff and leave. Just as they
were about to leave Nate heard the voice of the angel from his past say "Hi Lexi I’m
sorry I’m late where’s your sister?" Nate turned around he so that he was face to face
with the one woman that he had loved and still loved so much Kita Johnson.
