The Burning Village

Chapter Two: The Burning Village

Flames emitted high above the village, and from a distance it was all you could see, even for miles the bright yellow, orange glow could be spotted. Especially on the dark cold night. It was deep in the heart of the village where the fire had started, and it had worked it's way out from the inside. Vampires had breeched the surface, in search of their sacrifices, for the time was now.

Along with the Vampires came their servants, Creatures. A Creature was a Vampire without feeling or reasoning, and it's main purpose only to destroy and obey it's Master. With long sharp jagged teeth, twisted with rough bumps on the outside to make the pain of a puncture wound feel even worse. Huge, thin wiry fingers with claws attached to them, for shredding the victim. They were very tall, and hunched over, with a horrifying pale white face, and large eyes with no white in them, only black. Wearing a long leather jacket strapped around them, embedded in their skin, as well as the leather pants that cling to their cold flesh. They were taken along with the Vampires to destroy Madison Hills, safe for the sacrifices.

Her door was locked tightly as she listened to the sounds of screaming and agony from the outside. People getting murdered and slaughtered without mercy, her, being afraid she was next.

Then all of the sudden, with one rapid noise as her only warning, the front door to her cottage came falling to the ground and in walked two Creatures on either side of a very normal attractive looking man.

However he was not a normal man, he was none other then Robert Cassotto, and he'd come to take her as his first virgin sacrifice. Standing 6 feet tall, with dark mysterious eyes, and deep brown hair, wearing a blue suit and matching tie, with black shoes. He walked through the rubble his Creatures had created and came to her, huddled away in a corner of the room.

He reached down and with one swift jerk, she was on her feet facing him. The village burning around them, all was silent with only the sounds of a roaring fire headed her way.

He gazed fiercely into her light brown eyes as he firmly clutched her flowing brown hair. His eyes wondered down her body to notice what she was wearing, a short brown dress tied together at the waste with a rope.
Robert, staring right at her said, "Take her, head straight to the castle and then make her more presentable to me."
In one commanding voice, he tossed her aside to the Creatures, who dragged her out the open door way screaming, but it was no use.

Far on the left side of the village, the Creatures were being sent. To look for the slayer, and the last virgin sacrifice. On that side, in a cottage stayed two people.

Bobby who had taken watch over his younger sister now found himself in a terrorfying situation. He needed to come up with some escape plan, and fast. But there was someone he needed to get first.
In fear of his Sister being killed, he urged her to run into the woods that were behind their cottage, "You'll be safer Nina, trust me. Just do as I say and run, don't look back, just run."
She looked up at him, with her weepy chestnut eyes, "Please, don't leave me."
Bobby knelt down in the corner with her, running his fingers through her soft brown hair, "I'll find you, I promise."
"What, if you don't make it?" Nina asked, her eyes welling with tears.
Bobby looked down at his duddy brown shoes, "Find a way out, get help."
She softly wept, "What if I don't make it."
He quickly replied, "I promise, I wont let anything happen to you. You know that, don't you?"
She nodded, and he kissed her forehead as she and he rose to their feet.

Bobby headed for the door, taking one final glance at Nina before he slipped out. It was then she turned around and climbed out their back window. Running for the forest.

Bobby dashed across the dirt roads, and shot passed the burning houses, creeping passed the Creatures until he finally reached the house he was in pursuit of.

Chantal was a wealthy young girl, whom Bobby had been friends with all his life. He deeply and truly loved her, of course she herself loved him as well, just never in the way that he did her, and she never even knew how he felt. All he knew now was to rescue her from this place, and keep her safe.

He saw her house, the roof was aflame and their were several Creatures standing outside of it. Moments later, she was dragged through the front door, by those Creatures. He heard a man say to take her to the castle. Bobby would have lunged at the monsters right then, but he decided against it. He would follow them to the castle instead, and take Chantal back. As for right now, he would head back to his cottage. He knew the forest pretty well, and was almost sure he could locate the castle. But only if he went back the way Nina did.

They dragged Chantal along the dirt roads, kicking and screaming. Her blond hair tangle and worn, dirt all along her white dress and fear in her large wide-set brown eyes. Unsure of what their plans for her were. She fought with all her might, but her screams were effortless now.

As Nina hurried through the woods, she grew more and more worried about her Brother. She couldn't just leave him back there, she kept thinking to herself. So she turned around, and began heading back the way she came.

Screams could be heard all over, in every direction. Alison, just a civilian herself, was one of the brave and few who chose to fight. She’d slain many Creatures with her sword, now standing in the middle of the streets. Burning to the ground, people crying out for help, she was so distracted she didn't even notice the Creatures coming up behind her.

She caught the monster just in time, spinning quickly with her left leg in the air she knocked it back a ways. Taking her sword in both hands she got in a crouching position, ready to fight to the death.

Her light red hair, tumbling over her shoulder, as she gazed at this thing with her angry brown eyes. It shot forward with it's claws stuck out, ready to take her life. But she was quick, and it's blades missed her just by a hair. She spun around while the Creature's back was turned, and embedded her sword into it's back. The weapon was now stuck, and she had to let it go.

The Creature turned to face her pulling the sword from his back and flinging it in front of himself, dark thick red blood sprinkled across her red leather top, dripping down to her leather black pants. She became so focused on this one Creature, she was unaware that there were three behind her!

All around her, were people being dragged from their homes and sucked dry, there was nothing she could do. It was then she heard the noise behind her.

Now it was too late, she shot back as quickly as she could but all three of them grabbed her. Sinking their claws into her flesh, nipping and hissing at her, ready to feast on her blood.
It was then the voice of a woman stopped them, "No!" she shouted, walking closer to this girl, now trapped by these monsters.
Placing her hand under this girls chin, she looked into her eyes, with a smile on her face, revealing her fangs.
"She has fire, passion and hope. Throw her in the wagon with the other prisoners, faith is so much fun to crush." The Vampire woman said.

Robert came up behind her, "Don't you think we'll have enough prisoners to torture Catharine"?
She turned to face him, her black hair falling down around her shoulders, as she stared at him, still smiling, "What could one more worthless soul hurt?"

Catharine and Robert turned to face the Village, burning to the ground. Bodies laying outside their homes, in the street and still people fleeing, dying, begging for their lives. As they looked ahead, they saw Chris, another Vampire they'd taken along, draining the life from a beautiful young black haired woman.

When he was finished, he dropped her lifeless corpse to the ground, and walked towards Robert saying, "Why have you not fed Master?"
Robert answered, "I must save my feasting for the ceremony, besides, these people would only wet my appetite."
Catharine added, "He's right Chris, now go and fetch Bruce." She turned to Robert, "We have the two virgins, have we news on the slayer?"

Robert was about to reply when a Creature came up behind him with distressing news, " Master, we cannot, find the slayer. She has fled into the woods with some of the others."
Robert shouted, "Find her you fool! Chase her, go after her!"
Catharine smiled to herself, "We'll find her Robert." He now faced her.
"Yes, we shall. I think we're finished here, leave this town to the Creatures. We must head back to the castle." He said.

With that he called upon four of the Creatures to ride back with them to the castle and unload the prisoners. Robert, Catharine, Chris and Bruce. They entered the carriage and headed off, with the prisoners locked in a cage, that was being wheeled behind the carriage.

There were eleven prisoners that were being taken back to the castle for torture or to be fed from. Among, Chantal and Alison there were five more women, and only four men.

One of them was called Katie. She was to be a virgin sacrifice, Robert had captured her earlier. Though she was afraid, she was still hopeful. They hadn't killed her, yet she knew nothing of their plans for her.

Another was a woman named, Latila. A beautiful blond they'd taken much earlier on in the night, before the Village was burned to the ground. Her family had been killed right before her eyes, and she'd have been happy to join them. But the Vampires had other plans for her, she along with some of the others would be used as an example.

The other seven's names were, Edward, Adam, Annelisa, Kiera, Nicholas, Brad and Hillary. They to were to be part of a bigger picture. The price they would pay, would be their lives.

Bobby soon reached his house, only to turn and see the carriage heading into the woods. It was going much to fast for him to follow on foot. But he noticed the prisoners caged up, and he saw Chantal. So he had to try, he thought.

All the sudden he heard loud shrieks coming from behind the house. He quickly flung open the front door of his cottage and grabbed the sword laying in the doorway. Though half of it was broken off, it was better then nothing. He took it and rushed to the back of the house.

For the moment all he could see was the Creature in front of him, with blood dripping from his long twisted fangs. The blood of a fresh kill. As he stared up at the Creature it began to move, very slowly towards him. Panicked and unsure of what to do, he knew he wasn't fast enough to run. And his skills of battle were only average.

It was then his eyes glanced down to the cold ground. Lying there among the dirt and some weeds was Nina! Her neck oozing blood, he could not tell if she was still breathing. But he wouldn't have time to. The Creature lunged at him with full force, leaving him no chance to dodge it, he was knocked off his feet onto the ground.

He quickly rose with his half sword, swinging it to his right, slicing the Creatures arm. As it screamed this horrible high pitched shout, he swung the weapon again, hitting the same place, severing it's right arm.

It hurriedly ran from him, Bobby didn't think twice about it, as he ran to his Sister's side. He knelt upon the ground, holding her in his arms, he'd come too late. Staring deep into her cold emotionless eyes, tears began to swell in his own. He leaned in and kissed her forehead gently, then whispered, "They'll pay for this, all of them."

Before he had time to take in another breath he heard something coming his way. It sounded like more of those Creatures. He let got of Nina, looking at her face one last time, right into her eyes. Though he didn't want to leave her, he knew that if he died, Chantal may die, and he'd never be able to avenge Nina's death.

As he ran into the forest, thoughts began to shoot through his mind, as visions of his Sister haunted him. She must have come back for him, he kept thinking. The Creatures were right on him, so much so he could feel their clammy hands on his shoulders. He pushed himself harder and harder, running as fast as he could. And he soon began to lose them. For some reason they'd stopped following him, and after a while of running he finally stopped to take a breath.

He walked slowly from the bushes he was behind, out into and open area. It was then he realized where the Creatures had gone, and it was much worse then he ever expected.
