Chapter Twenty- Five

Chapter Twenty-Five

Rowan jumped up. “What are you doing?!”

He looked genuinely surprised to see her, but she knew better than that. “Forgot my clothes.”

“You did that on purpose!”

“Why would I do that?”

“Because you think that if I see you half naked, knowing that there’s nothing but skin under that towel... that you’re almost completely naked... that I’ll lose control and jump your bones or something.” Damn it! She was becoming more and more aroused with every word.

He grinned. “Never even crossed my mind, darlin’.” He scratched his chin thoughtfully and the towel slipped a little revealing the path of hair leading to his- “Ahem.” Her eyes snapped back up to his. “My eyes are up here.”

“Take your clothes and leave.” Smirking, he strolled over to her. She took one step back. “Garret-”

“Is that really what you want?”

She met his eyes evenly. “Yes.”

“Liar.”

“Jerk.” She had to fight to keep her gaze trained on his face. Everything in her wanted to check him out. Her body and her mind were currently holding a vote over whether or not to wrestle that towel away. Then again, it probably wouldn’t be much of a struggle.

“That hurts, babe. I’m wounded.” His wide grin made that clearly a lie. His head was lowered slightly and she knew he was going to kiss her. A couple pieces of hair fell into his eyes and she once again had to fight the urge to brush them behind his ear. “You know, this is my room.”

“What’s your point?”

“You can’t order me to leave my own room.”

“Watch me.”

“Your hair looks nice.” He leaned in close and took in a breath. “Mmm... and it smells really, really good.”

“Stop complimenting me.”

“You just look incredible.”

“Didn’t I just yell at you for that?”

“What?”

“Complimenting me. Being nice. Stop it.”

He cocked an eyebrow at that, clearly amused. “So, you would rather if I were rude?”

“Yes!”

“As you wish.” His mouth swooped down on hers. She melted against him, hating her lack of resolve when she was in his arms. His tongue parted her lips. She heard a whimper and mentally cursed, realizing it was her own.

His hand slid up her shirt caressing her lower back and holding her tight against him. She ran her hands over his arms loving the feel of his muscles flexing under her hands. Despite the feeling of power he exuded she felt safer with him than she ever had, with anyone. She slid her hands around to his back running one hand lightly down his spine. His kiss was suddenly hotter, more possessive.

She could feel his growing arousal pressed against her stomach. She shivered slightly at the sensation, at the feeling of power that came from knowing that he wanted her that much. He touched her mind and her knees almost buckled. Life would be a lot easier without Garret’s incredibly active imagination. Operating on lust, instinct, and impulse she rained kisses down his neck.

His hands immediately stilled as she playfully nipped at his neck. “Rowan...” he murmured. She smiled, pleased with his reaction. She licked at a bead of water rolling down his chest. “Baby, you’re killing me here.”

Rowan looked into his eyes. “Is that a good or bad thing?” She went back to her task licking one of his nipples.

“Both,” he breathed. The towel fell to the floor, forgotten. Immediately, she stepped back flushing and looking at the floor avoiding any look at what the towel had previously been hiding. “Um... oops.”

She looked back at him with a raised eyebrow. “Oops?”

“I honestly did not mean to do that.” He picked up the towel and started to tie it back around his waist before shrugging and throwing it over his shoulder. “You distracted me.”

“... Sorry.”

“Nothing to apologize for, Rowan. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I now have to go take care of something.” He grabbed some clothes and she let her eyes travel down. she almost gasped.

“Um... Garret? I have a question.”

“Yeah?”

“How exactly would that even fit?”

He looked over startled then smiled when he saw where her gaze rested. “Trust me, babe, that will not be a problem.” He walked into the bathroom and shut the door. she fixed her hair as she waited for him. By the time that he came out she was becoming impatient.

“What took you so long?”

“Well, when you tease a guy like that he has two choices, either take care of himself or be in intense pain for awhile.” He flopped down on the bed. “The term is blue balls.”
“Oh,” she said with a deep blush. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. This is still progress.” He sent her a mischievous grin. “Besides, I was enjoying myself.” Her cheeks got even redder. “Angel, the last thing I want is for you to do something you’ll regret later. We’re working towards a relationship, not a one-night-stand.”

“Is that what we’re doing?”

“Yes,” he said immediately. “We’ve both put too much time into this for anything else.” As much as she really hated to admit it, he was right. All she knew for sure was that she wanted to be with him, that she felt he needed her. “So what are we doing tonight?”

“Up to you,” she shrugged.

He smirked. “Really?”

“Be nice.”

“I plan to be,” he said innocently.

“Right.”

“So, ready?”

“Tired,” she corrected. She flopped down on his bed, next to him. “Very tired.”

“Excuse me?” he said peering down at her. “But what exactly do you think you’re doing?”

“Sleeping, it’s only nine o’clock.”

“Hey, I got up.”

“Good for you.” She yawned stretching lithely. “Now, I’m taking a nap. Care to join me?”

“Well, I can’t say no to an offer like that.” He stretched out next to her pulling her into his embrace. “`Sides, I need a little sleep.”

She smiled cuddling into his side. /Laying here,/ she thought, /I can imagine, even if it’s only for a couple seconds, that everything’s normal, that Lupe is just on vacation, and that Garret’s old clan are just a friendly group of clowns or something. Wait, scratch that last one, clowns are creepy./

“You’re afraid of clowns?” Garret’s deep voice was on the verge of laughter.

Rowan hid her head against his chest to cover her blush. “You shouldn’t eavesdrop.”

“Are you?”

“Yes! I watched IT when I was younger, plus they just look scary. That paint is not natural.” Now he was laughing. “Shut up.”

“Don’t worry, sweetheart, no clowns will get you when I’m around.”

“I hope you realize that whenever you say things like that your chances of ever getting any are drastically reduced.”

“Can’t help it. You make it so easy.”

“No more talking, I’m going to sleep.”

“Okay, hon.” She closed her eyes and just as she was about to doze off Garret started humming the circus song.

“Garret!”
