Chapter 2

Next Chapter (MWUAHHHHAAHAH)

No matter how much he tried, Kyle couldn't get the girl out of his mind. He stared at the file on his desk. He said he'd take care of this one on his own, it was okay with him. So in his hands was the tiny bit of the investigation then ended swiftly. He continued to stare at it.
"Kyle? Don't expect the folder to jump at you with answers."
"Uh yeah...sorry...I just zoned out is all."
"Are you sure you want this case? You seem to be on to something yourself. Something bothering you about this one?"
"No...I'm fine. It's alright. I can handle it."
His friend gave him a nod and turned, walking away.
"It's not that I don't think you can handle it..."
His voice trailed off but Kyle still heard it, sure that he wasn't supposed to. He sighed and took the file into his hands and over his lap. He opened the folder and a piece of paper slid out onto his lap. He ignored it and read the first line of the report.
Full name: Rosette Benjamin
He hadn't heard that name before but it sounded pretty. He guessed it was just as pretty as her but he wasn't sure. When he saw, she wasn't exactly done up or anything. An image began to run through his head of what she might look like and he felt his cheeks get warm. Colour started to come to them.
'No. This is a case. I have to think professionally about this.'
Next were age, birthday, address, and report.
Age: 17
Birth date: July 14th, 1988
He stopped at the age.
'Seventeen, eh? She's only two years younger than I am.'
He huffed and put the folder on table ready to write out the report.

AT THE HOSPITAL
"Mrs. Benjamin? Mrs. Benjamin?"
She looked over at the doctor and bolted right up and wandered over to him.
"Hello, I am Doctor Benson. I've ran test on your daughter, Rosette, and she seems to be in perfect health. She has no damage to her, although through her experience, she can't remember anything. I'm sure she will remember eventually and when she does, can you contact me please?"
"Yes. Yes I can do that."
Her mother smiled. Rosette was going to be okay and that's all that mattered. The doctor smiled, nodded to her and walked away as Rosette walked out. Her mother walked to her and hugged her.
"Rosette you're okay."
"Yes mom, I'm fine."
Rosette looked at her hands, sure she was fine but something didn't sit right with her. Her mother let her go.
"Come on, let's go home now."
She smiled and Rosette nodded.
"Okay."
They got into the car drove home. Rosette stared out the window.
'Something’s got to be wrong. I've been missing for three days and nothing happened? I didn't get raped. I didn't get beat, and yet I was naked and have no memory of those days. How is this possible?'
Rosette started twisting her face at the things that could have happened to her. Her mother caught sight of it.
"Rosette?"
She jumped a little and turned to her mother, surprise look on her face, only from being startled.
"Y-Yes?"
"Are you feeling okay? You had a scary look on your face? Do you want to go to back to the hospital?"
"No, I'm okay. Let's just go home."
She smiled at her mother, reassuring her that she was okay. Her mother only smiled in returned and turned back to the road.
'The hospital is the last place I want to be right now. I couldn't stand to go back. I just want to go home.'
They pulled up to the driveway of the house and her mother turned the car off. Rosette went to get out when her mother put her hand over her daughters'.
"Is there anything you want?"
"Yeah, I think I'll go to bed when I get in. I'd like to be left alone if that's okay?"
"Of course. You've had a hard day. Go rest it off."
"Thanks mom."
Rosette got out of the car and into the house. She took off her shoes and went down to her room. Grant came down the stairs as Rosette walked down the stairs to her room.
"You're home? Where's Rosette?"
"She went to her room to rest. I thought it would be best since she's had a hard day."
'Makes sense.' He thought.
He wandered around the kitchen. Going through the cupboards and in the cabinet. Finally his mother got fed up and opened her mouth when Grant's voice interrupted her.
"Hey mom where's the chicken soup?"
He yelled, his head being buried in the cabinet. His mother stood behind him and reached over his head to grab the pouch that was sitting next to the peanut butter. She wagged it in his face and he rose to stand completely, towering over her. He put out his hand and she dropped it.
"Thanks."
"I'm going upstairs. Try not to make too much noise. Your father is sleeping and your sister is resting."
"Yeah yeah okay mom."
She stood next to him and he bend down a little bit.
"Good night."
She said before she pecked him on the cheek and she walked up the stairs.
"Good night mom."
He opened the cupboard under the sink and pulled out the kettle. Letting the water run until it got a little warm, Grant filled up the tea kettle and then plugged it in. He went to the other cupboard and got out her favourite mug. It had Winnie the Pooh on it and was twice as big as the other mugs they had in their inventory. He filled the mug with the powdery contents of the pouch. He waited around the kitchen while the water in the kettle boiled. He tapped his fingers against the counter. The kettle started to whistle at him and he whirled around. It whistled louder and he unplugged it. As he poured the water into the cup, it steamed up into his face. He cursed at the heat and stepped back. He pulled out a spoon from the drawer and mixed the contents in the mug. He got out a cover for the mug, thinking it would be too hot to hold, and walked down to the basement.
